INTRODUCTION
Working with leading people is very important part of any management study. In this it
tells about how to work with other people in effective and efficient manner .In other words it can
be say that it builds the leadership style in a person and teaches how to work and coordinate
with a team (Mendenhall, 2012). This project is based on The United Parcel Service which is the
largest parcel service provider in UK. The below project explains the impact of legal ,regulatory
and ethical consideration to the recruitment and selection process , selection process , skills and
attributes that is required in a leader and styles of leadership , how to motivate the employees for
help in in achieving the objective and benefits of team working in an organisation and factors
involved in planning and monitoring or assessing the work performance of employees.
TASK 1
1.1 Documentation to select and recruit a new staff
In United Parcel Service ,mostly employees are leaving the organisation because of some
leadership or management problems . As a HR manager of UPS company, he has to identify the
requirement of employees and decides what skills and experience is required in employees for
the specific job (Bush and Middlewood, 2013). The HR department of UPS company is required to
prepare the following documents for the selection and recruitment process-
Approval of document related to job- Before starting the recruitment process ,a HR has
to take approval from the related authority of the organisation for recruitment and
selection. After this whose department is needed the new employees, they will sent the
report to HR manager. This report will contain the needed amount of employees ,job
designation and skills and experience that is required for that designation (Lev, 2013). The
process of recruitment will not be started until and unless authority will give the
permission to HR department.
Job analysis and job description- Before announcing about the job vacancy ,HR
department has to describe about the job description that is permitted by the authority.
Position descriptions includes role and responsibilities of that job ,skills and experience
required for that position ,working in that job etc (Goetsch and Davis, 2014).

COMPANY announces about the job vacancy publicly. The announcement of job
vacancy must be approve by executive director of HR department. It can announce

The recruitment and selection process is affected by laws and regulation of the
government. While doing the recruitment and selection of an employees, HR manager of UPS
Company should be aware about the rules and regulation and laws of government as well as of
the company (Welch, 2014). These laws helps the UPS company in regard to risk , job
posting ,interview question etc. There are some questions if HR manager asked those question to
the applicant of the job then it will be unethical and violation of laws. So these laws protected the
applicant from the unethical behaviour and discrimination which can be done by the employer
while doing recruitment and selection. There are many types of laws which impact the
recruitment process which are as follows-
At the time of announcing HR manager should ensure that there should be no
discrimination on the basis of sex ,cast etc. and be ensured that there should be no
breaching of laws in advertising (Day, 2014).
These laws also affects the interview stage. According to laws, no employer has right to
ask question in the interviews that is related to the religion ,colour etc.
According to law ,while giving the employment ,HR manager should check that
candidate should have right to work in UK or not. He should not have any criminal
record.

rejection to the rejected candidate (Stubbs and et.al., 2014).
In addition to all above thing ,I contributes in maintaining the good environment in the
company and for achieving the objectives of organisation, I co-ordinated with other department
like production department ,finance department, marketing department etc.

4.1 Factors involved in planning and monitoring and assessment of work performance-
Performance assessment means to evaluate the performance of the employees and ensure
that they are performing according to the standard or not. If not then take corrective action. It is
done for improving the efficiency and productivity of the employees. It is important task for
achieving the objectives. There are many factors that are involved while planning for the
assessment of work. Some of them are as follows-
Firstly UPS company should set the standards of the performance that every employees
have to follow.
Then should ensure that there are proper resources that will help the employees in
improving their performance (Fraley and et.al., 2011).
Decides the strategies that can improve the performance of the employees.
At last before implementing the strategy ,it should be ensured that strategies are properly
framed.
While monitoring the performance following points should be considered-
supervisor should check performance on a regular basis (Welch, 2014).
For motivating the employees there should be designed the incentives plan so that
employees will perform according to the standards.
If any employee is performing better then appreciate him.
There should be proper evaluation of performance and then take corrective action.
