The assignment examines different aspects of leadership. The focus is made upon the hiring of
manager in the fast food restaurant. To control the rate of retention in employees the managers is
required to depict the trait of team orientation and bind the workers together as a team.
1. Identify the leadership traits and behaviours that are desirable for this position.
Owning to the scenario given the case study the manager is required to possess the leadership
traits of patience, maturity, team orientation and patience. The leader must be patience enough to
deal with the fast pace of the organisation and undertake strategic decisions regarding the
operational environment of the business. The traits of team orientation and empathy are required
to organise the employees into a team work as a force (Mendoza, et. al., 2016). For the required
position it is essential to depict the trait of high energy and enthusiasms so as to inculcate with
the fast pace of the organisation.
2. Design an approach to selecting this person.
In order to select the most appropriate and worthy candidate the selection committee is required
to analyze the personal traits and behaviour of the candidate. The committee must examine the
reactions of the candidates in various conditions such as negative work environment and work
pressure etc. It is essential to testify the outlook and behaviour of the individual for eradicating
the high employee turnover (Von Rueden & Van Vugt, 2015). It is also required to depict a calm
and composed behaviour in the individual for reflecting upon the negative welcome to the
organization. This approach can be adopted to identify the presence of required traits in the
candidate.
3. Which methods of employee selection would you use? Why?
The most appropriate employee selection method could be face to face meeting and interview. It
is essential in the given case study to determine the outlook and behaviour of the individual. Face
to face interview and meeting will enable to study the reactions and body language of the
candidate (Antonakis & Day, 2017). It is required to access a positive attitude and body language
by the candidate in order to constraint the negative atmosphere and work environment. The
selection will also be aided by this method as it will depict the understanding of the candidate of
the work environment and the behaviours of the colleagues. Face to face interview will also aid
in assessing the behaviour in the terms of facial expressions and body language as it is essential
to analyze these for hiring the candidate at the position of manager.
