Self awareness to be successful leader
The act of being a successful leader would not be possible without the act of self-
leadership. The high self-awareness of the leader is considered as the strongest predictor of
success of a leader (Showry and Manasa 2014). The executives who are better aware of their
strengths and weakness are able to better perform leadership tasks. The self-aware leaders are
more motivated and become more effective. They are also able to perform accurate decision
making activities. The self-aware leaders are humble enough and they are free to listen to new
ideas as well as opposing opinions. The leaders who are aware of their own potentials are able to
embrace the various vulnerabilities and they display adequate humility (Showry and Manasa
2014). Another aspect of the self-awareness knows the strengths and the weaknesses of the other
team members. The effective teams are made up of leaders who are able to identify the diversity
of the team.
The phenomenon of self-awareness is concerned with the ability of being socially
intelligent (Sturm et al. 2014). If the leader is aware about himself and his surroundings, then he
would be able to display charismatic personality. The self-aware leaders are perceived better and
they are considered as effective leaders. The self-aware leaders are said to be more effective than
their counterparts (Day et al. 2014). Self –awareness is considered as an invisible emotion in
which there is a subsequent increase in the productivity of the employees. A leader who is aware
of his limitations would be more effective in taking effective decisions for his decision. Such
kinds of leaders are also said to be emotionally intelligent as they are able to listen to their gut
feeling (Showry and Manasa 2014). They are also able to do active listening, which helps them
to handle the conflicts well. It can be concluded that the self-aware leaders are more successful
in their career and professional journey.

Good judgment for becoming successful leader
The leaders need to have good judgmental capabilities so that they can be successful in
their professional endeavors. The good judgment capabilities go in hand with the consistent
communication and clear vision (Szyld and Rudolph 2013). If the leader is unable to understand
the minute intricacies of the situation, then he would not be able to judge well. The act of
judgment begins with the level of humility and it is important to consider all the facets of the
situation before making any conclusions (Szyld and Rudolph 2013). It is also important to
identify the pivotal roles in the organization and listen to the varied views of the people. This
would help the leaders to make effective judgments.
One of the most important ways to have good judgmental capabilities is to have excellent
communication skills. The leader should be able to transfer his ideas to his team and also take
the ideas from them. It is important for the leaders to gather all the facts, data and information
before they give their judgment. These tasks can’t be done alone and hence communication is
vital.
It is also important to maintain good relationships with the team members and this would
help in the process of judgment (Szyld and Rudolph 2013). One of the most critical aspects of
the judgment process is to accept the mistakes done and to correct them as soon as possible.
Quality of Vision
The quality of vision is perceived as the subjective entity which assesses the unique
perception of personal vision (Daft 2014). The quality of vision is said to be multifactorial in
nature and determine the qualities of an effective leader. Vision is considered as an essential
quality to determine effective leadership, which communicates trust and communication in a

team (Daft 2014). The effective leaders are able to communicate the organizational vision to the
team members. The leaders are able to inspire, challenge and encourage others and this would be
possible only if they are being to view the broader picture. The leadership is considered as a
relationship between who inspire the followers and the followers themselves. The leaders should
be able to understand the broad consequences of the organizational actions and their impact on
the team well being (Daft 2014). A leader is expected to have a shared vision, which would be
effective in fulfilling the organizational objectives (Roueche, Baker and Rose 2014). The shared
vision would allow the team members to work in a coherent manner and build a relationship with
the followers.
The leaders are said to share a dream as well as direction in which they want their team
members to follow and share (Daft 2014). This vision of a leader goes beyond the documented
organizational mission statement as well as vision statement. The leaders should be able to
articulate their ideas clearly and work towards them for their successful completion (Bottomley,
Burgess and Fox 2014). The value of a leader is considered within the beliefs, actions, goals and
the values of the organizational leaders.
When the leaders have strong vision, they are able to organization their employees well
in a workplace so that the company goals are achieved. The ability of a leader to demonstrate a
strong vision would compel the employees to flock to him for necessary advices (Daft 2014). In
most of the successful firms, the founders are the ones who had a great vision for their
organizations and hire the best manpower for the organization (Trastek, Hamilton and Niles
2014). It is possible that the vision is changed after a certain period of time. This may be due to
the fact that there are certain changes in external environment within a period of time. The vision

members.
Leadership by example
Steve Jobs, who is the founder of Apple Inc, is considered as one of the most influential
leaders of all times (Yoffie and Cusumano 2015). He is an innovative leader, due to which he is
able to lead several organizations. He is known to be a hardworking and demanding person and
yet he is a simple person. It is said that good leaders have confidence and Steve Jobs have shown
that confidence matters in the event of gaining business success. Steve Job’s confidence can be
reflected from the fact that the leader wanted a special type of glass to be installed in the front
section of iPhone and he wanted this thing to happen as quickly as possible (Yoffie and
Cusumano 2015). At this moment, one of the employees said to him that it is not possible to
make such a glass and then he said that “Yes, you can do and do not be afraid”.
Steve Jobs have displayed adaptable nature and he used this attribute in multiple
situations (Steinwart and Ziegler 2014). He used his skills and expertise for 12 years to match the
needs of the company. He was once cut back from the company due to his excessive focused
approach but then he adapted himself and came back to the company again (Yoffie and
Cusumano 2015). The effective leaders are said to have a controlled sense of urgency and create
innovative solutions or cutting edge technologies. Jobs acted in a sense of urgency and he was
able to look to the future as well as motivate his team members towards success.
Steve Jobs has creative vision which usually challenged his employees and drove them to
act towards the goal. He had a clear idea regarding what he wanted to achieve and this vision
helped them to achieve a common goal.
