1VOLUNTEERING AND LEADERSHIP
As mentions Estee lauder “I never dreamed about success. I worked for it”. It is
imperative to note that a true leader is born at the field; it is the continuous process of active
participation in the little things in life which determines the future prospects for a true leader. A
leader is not born instead they are made through the process of learning and experiences. Hence,
self-volunteering provides this chance to learn about the self in a better way and I have
participated in many such volunteering activities in my life which has shaped my understanding
about the nuances of being a true leader. One such incident that I can recall is the time when I
volunteered in distributing the quiz questionnaire to my classmates on behalf of the instructor in
class. Why I consider this experience to be significant is that such things in life will give me
insights about the social, technical and real-world knowledge that is not acquired in the
classroom. This also helped to learn excellent communication skills since I realized it is
indispensable to have good communication knowledge to convey my instructor's message to my
classmates.
Moreover, I realised that using my leisure time in doing something constructive will help
me positively build my character and personality. With this desire to learning new things in life, I
also took part in cleaning the window for the shop named Catwalk. This helped me gathering
knowledge of responsibility and accountability for a certain kind of job, and it is also made me
realize that leadership requires more than just leading people; it requires skill-based knowledge
to perform duties. Such experiences are to be gathered as self-volunteering helps us achieve our
real potential and passion for things and builds up the character through the lessons and new
learning.
