1.0 Introduction
Fast Track Couriers is a courier delivery company that is operational for more than a
decade in New South Wales. Currently, the management of the company wants to expand its
services and gain significantly more market share that will increase the overall revenue for the
company.
In this report, the case study of the company is analyzed and the change management
requirements have been discussed in detail.
2.0 Review and Analysis of Case Study
2.1 Change Requirements for Fast Track Couriers
As per the current situation at Fast Track Couriers and the management team’s decision
to expand the services beyond the current market share, it is evident that there must be some
changes introduced (Carnall 2018). The introduction of these changes will allow the
management to proceed with their idea as well as provide more efficient and controlled services
to the customers. Some of the main change requirements are identified as follows.
The primary change required for the company is to build more warehouses at
various locations of the metropolitan cities in order to increase the area of service
as well as provide more convenience to the drivers to deliver the couriers to
various parts of the cities.

Another major change required is to upgrade the existing IT system at the
company in order to enhance the communication system as well as monitor the
delivery of the couriers to respective customers.
The technical set ups at the existing warehouses need to be upgraded in order to
reduce the chances of injuries of the drivers while lifting heavy loads.
The organization’s strategic plan includes expansion of services as well as the market
share and also enhancement of the existing operations that are currently in use. Furthermore, the
organization also wants to reduce the grievances of the work force and at the same time increase
the work output from them (Doppelt 2017). Hence, the mentioned change requirements are all
necessary for the company if they want to go ahead with their goals and objectives.
2.2 Organization’s Performance against Objectives
The organization’s performance against the objectives and strategic goals are explained
below.
People – The organization currently allocates a team of two to deliver a certain number
of couriers within a certain period of time. However, keeping in mind the organization’s
proposed changes, only one driver will be allocated for the delivery process so that the number
of deliveries can be increased as there will be more active drivers at the same time.
Policies and Processes – The organization has certain policies and processes that are
currently being followed (Goetsch and Davis 2014). However, in order to implement the
proposed changes, the policies must also be changed that may include more benefits for the
employees and workers, better communication process with the drivers, specific and flexible
shift hours for workers and others.

Technology – Currently, the technology is not sufficiently utilized by the organization for
daily activities and operations. The proposed changes include upgradation of the technologies
(both IT and on-field) that will enhance the existing operations.
Structure – The current organization structure has only been set up for the small scale of
business of the company. In order to expand further and gain more market share, the
organization structure must also be changed with the addition of more region based officials so
that it will be easier for the management to control the operations over a larger area of service.
2.3 Impact of External Events and Trends on Strategic Plan Goals
Two external events that can have significant impact on strategic plan goals are listed as
follows.
Popularity of online marketing has provided a significant opportunity for the
courier delivery services to enhance their services by delivering the products sold
by the ecommerce companies to the customers’ doorsteps.
Customers demand faster delivery options for couriers and also many customers
are not able to receive couriers as they stay beyond delivery areas. These
problems may be addressed by enhancing the services and increasing the daily
output of services.
The organizational objectives will be significantly impacted by the mentioned events as
the company will need to provide more area coverage and faster delivery options to the
customers (Hayes 2018). Furthermore, signing contracts will major ecommerce companies like
Amazon, Alibaba and others will allow the company to grow as much expected in the proposed
goals and objectives.

2.4 Operational Change Requirements
The major operational change requirements are listed below.
Changes due to Performance Gaps – The changes due to performance gaps include
installation of automatic lift gate so that the drivers do not have to lift heavy packages and injure
themselves in the process. Furthermore, less man power will be required once the lifting and
unloading processes are automated.
Changes due to Business Opportunities – The organization can sign delivery contracts
with ecommerce giants like Alibaba, Amazon and others in order to increase their business and
annual revenue significantly.
Changes due to Threats – While the organization has significant opportunities, there are
also major threats i.e. the other courier companies who are technically advanced and already
have a good customer base in the major cities.
Changes due to Management Decisions – Major changes in management decisions may
include reallocation of work to the drivers with different team set up, flexibility in hours and
delivery targets, less but more efficient workload on the workers and others.
2.5 Specialists to be Consulted
In order to identify change requirements for the organization, the specialists that are to be
consulted include business analysts and business consultants. This is mainly because the
organizational goals are primarily focused on enhancing the business of the company.

In order to engage the specialists in this project, the most suitable consulting model will
be Balanced Scorecard Model (Booth 2015). This model will enable the specialists to identify
the vision and strategy of the organization and proposed suitable changes accordingly.
2.6 Change Management Requirements and Opportunities
The change management requirements are already discussed above and it has been found
that there are several opportunities for the organization to implement these changes (Pugh 2016).
The opportunities include increase in popularity of online marketing and delivery services,
increase in the customer count for delivery services, better service areas in metropolitan cities
and others.
