Leadership Philosophy 2
What is leadership philosophy?
An important thing to consider for any individual to get the best of their life, and their work is to
create a philosophy. To some the concept might seem a bit confusing. What does leadership
have to do with philosophy? The truth of the matter is, leadership philosophy is extremely
important.
Leadership philosophy comprises the set of beliefs, values and moral norms that will help an
individual hone their leadership skills. For a leader, the ability to influence the people and group
members is an important and critical task. Well, some may believe that being a leader only
consists of giving out orders, while laying back and relaxing on a big chair. This is far from
reality. The truth of the matter is, that an individual in leadership position might get carried away
with the prestige they have acquired. However, the results they might receive through their
behavior might not be favorable either. Employees might get tired and feel daunted of the way
their so-called leader might be behaving, and instead of focusing on excelling at their work, they
might just focus on getting the burden off their shoulders, regardless of the end results.
A leader therefore, should have some kind of philosophy that will help them understand how
they want to be perceived. As a comrade? As a person who will guide their team towards
success? Or as a person who is so daunting, that none of the employees or team members have
the strength to tell them if something is not right, or comes up with an innovative idea. We can
take the example of teachers. We have all had teachers in schools who were so kind that they
made even the most difficult subject seemed like a piece of cake. On the other hand, we have
also had teachers who made us fear the very thought of attending school. A good teacher molded
us to be a better person and work hard no matter what. On the other hand, the strict teacher’s

subject was something we just wanted to get “over with”.Thus, it comes down to every
individual and how they want to be perceived. Every human being is different. Similarly, every
team, and every member of the team is different and therefore has varying views about how they
perceive their leader. The crux of the matter is one should keep themselves at their best behavior.
A leader should be eloquent, diligent and have the capacity to help their team members get
through the toughest times without being strict, or rude. Only if you want to excel in your life,
get the best of their life and work altogether.
