Introduction
The Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP project management approach is known to be one of the most
successful project management techniques that are used in order to plan as well as implement a project.
The initial goal of the projects that were created by the help of the ERP project management approach
was to provide those project to large scale organizations as well as enterprises and this is the reason
why it was named so. In simpler words the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project management is
defined as an integrated and consistent process that helps an organization in developing various
projects. It is known to be providing integrated as well as continuous modified view of the core business
procedures that can be used for the proper management as well as accurate development of the
projects in an enterprise or in an organization.

1. Identify the likely causes of the problems experienced by the ERP project.
Following are some of the issues that might occur while doing the implementation of ERP project
management.
1. ERP Vendors: There are hundreds and thousands of ERP projects that are currently available in
the market regarding the same technology and some of them are even made to serve the same
purpose. IT is very much important for any organization to choose the correct and accurate
project to be made and then work in the direction so that it can outstand to every product that
has already been made in the past and is known to be serving the same purpose. In order to
know what product is correct for research and use, the history of the vendor must be known
and it must also be known that how good the previous projects of the vendors have been. The
improper choice of system might lead to Maverick Behavior of the system.
2. Commitment from the Authorities: The role that has been played by the top level authorities
who are senior in the organization is very vital, the commitment that they give to the client must
be made as per the working capacity of the employees and it is very important for them not to
make any commitments that impacts the efficiency of the employees who are working under
them. Any ignorance from there end can cost the organization the whole project and it can also
affect the career of the employees who are working on the project (Mukti and Rawani, 2019).
3. Time Constraints: The proper implementation of the ERP project management is known to be a
time consuming process and therefore it is very much important for the organization to make
the developers follow this approach in a step by step manner and not to expect immediate
results just after the implementation of ERP. The protocols that are defined in the ERP project
management, are of very high standard and therefore any kind of hurry in the whole process
can result in the decrement in the quality of the project and therefore every step in this process
needs to be taken carefully and hence it is known to be a time consuming approach for project
managements (Vayyavur, 2016).
4. Inadequate Training: Whenever there is an implementation of ERP in the organization the
employees ten to resist or face difficulties in adjusting with the standard protocols that are
defined in the ERP project management. This happens because the employees are not provided
with a proper training to follow the standard protocols that are to be implemented along with
the ERP project management and therefore a sudden decrement in the quality of the project
can be clearly seen. IT would be very helpful for the employees as well as the organization to
provided proper training and motivation to the employees regarding the information and basic
knowledge about the ERP project management (Mukti and Rawani, 2019).
5. Improper Recruitment: The implementation of ERP project management in any project that is
being created by an organization is never easy, therefore it is very much important for an
organization to make sure that their best employees have been assigned with the development
of the project that is being made by the help of ERP project management. The amount of skills
that are needed to be familiar and comfortable with the protocols that are defined with the ERP
project management is very high and hence not every employee can be assigned with the
project that is being created by the help of it. But this is sure that if the best employees of the
organization are assigned with the project then in that case the most accurate application would
be obtained with minimum errors.

be obtained with minimum errors.

6. The Cost of Implementation: The overall cost of the implementation of the ERP project
management is known to be much more than initial cost of the whole project and its
requirement gatherings. The total cost of the project is highly dependent upon the cost of the
modifications and the customizations that are made on the project post to the implementation
of the ERP project management on the project. If there are many changes made in the project
and high number of customization are done over the project after the implementation of ERP
project management protocols, then in that case the overall cost of the project would
automatically be very high, but similarly if there is minimum modification on the project post to
the implementation of ERP then in that case there would barely be any cost fluctuation in the
overall cost (Vayyavur, 2016).
7. Employee Retention: One of the major challenges that are faced by an organization post to the
implementation of ERP project management is that whenever there is an execution of ERP in
any organization or in any project, the employees that are working in the organization or the
project in which ERP has been implemented tend to leave the project or even the organization
in some cases. This has a very heavy impact over the growth of the organization.
Something similar happened in the case of Leadtek, the employees who were using the ERP
systems were feeling burdened by the additional use of the ERP systems and hence were
starting to lack the motivation to work in Leadtek.

2. Show how these problems could have been avoided or mitigated (with particular
reference to the concepts and frameworks covered in this course).
It is already known that without the implementation of ERP, it is very difficult for any organization to
make a centralized memory allocation for the data, and hence if there is no ERP used, then the
organization would have to search for various different places in order to access the resources they need
which consumes a valuable and productive time of the organization which can have a negative impact
on the growth of the company. Therefore it is necessary to be implement ERP but there are various
issues that are associated with it. Following are the ways in which the issues that are faced while doing
the implementation of ERP project Management can be solved or avoided.
1. One of the main issue that arises in ERP project management is that the definition or the
planning of the project requirement are not properly understood because of it and it is
considered to be a difficult task for any organization to create a proper project plan while
implementing ERP. Therefore it must always be keep in mind that the business idea that is being
created in order to promote or create a business or even expand it, is unique and would be
having a different perspective in the mind of everybody, therefore even before the creation of
the project in started, the proper and accurate starting as well as the ending point of the whole
project must be decided. On the basis of these two, the other milestones of the project must
also be decided which will help in order to provide a direction to the project (Onestien, 2019).
2. Another one of the major issues that occurs during the implementation of ERP is that the
organization in which it is being implemented sometimes keep their expectations from the
outcomes of the ERP a but high and due to this they fail to understand that ERP is a slow and
steady process and it takes its time to adjust in an organization and a particular skillset to be
implemented in a proper manner. Therefore the expectation and the planning of the project
after implementing the ERP must be planned carefully and the outcomes that are expected from
that implementation must be feasible enough otherwise it may also impact the motivation of
the employees to work (Quirk, 2018).
3. One of the major issues that are observed in the implementation of ERP project management is
that it is not known to use all the features that are provided in a software or an application. The
system that are specifically aerated for the implementation of ERP are not able to provide all of
the benefits that it potentially is having to the user of ERP as the user are not aware of all its
features. In order to resolve this problem, at the time when the systems are being taken from
the vendor of the ERP system, maximum number of quarries must be asked in order to known
about the system as much as possible and also to known the benefits that it provides (Onestien,
2019).
4. As mentioned in the earlier part of the report, the choice of a proper system for the
implementation of ERP project management is also a difficult task and the vendor who is having
the responsibility to provide the particular system must be the who can be trusted else if the
system that is being used for the implementation of ERP is poor or not up to the mark, then in
that case the proper implementation of the ERP would not be possible and therefore choosing
an ill-fitting system can have negative effect on the whole project and ultimately the whole
organization (Quirk, 2018).
5. The inability to see the bigger picture or the long term benefits is also one of the major issues
that are faced during the implementation of the ERP project management systems. The
reference to the concepts and frameworks covered in this course).

authorities want immediate results and they don’t understand that the systems of ERP takes
time after being implemented to show proper results but if they are implemented properly, they
are known to be highly beneficial. Therefore the vendor of the ERP system must make sure to
tell the organization of the buyer of the system about the bigger picture and that the system can
help them achieve their long term goals (Quirk, 2018).
6. Some of the organization implement the ERP project management systems without even
making the employees aware about the system and then expected them to work properly over
the system. The authorities fail to understand that the ERP system is a complex system and only
the best of the employees must be chosen for it to be used and that too after a proper
mentoring and training about the whole system (Quirk, 2018). Therefore, even before the
implementation of the system, the employees of the organization must be given proper training
so that they can comfortable work on the system of ERP project managements whenever it is
implemented in the organization. This will also save the time of the organization as if no training
is provide to the employees, it takes a lot of time and effort for the employees in order to adjust
with the whole system (Onestien, 2019).
The same steps must be taken in order to have a proper implementation of ERP project
management system in Leadtek. The employees of Leadtek must be provided a proper drill and
training of the ERP systems and then they must be asked to use the system so they don’t see the
ERP systems as a burden but they see it as a helping hand (Quirk, 2018).

3. Provide clear recommendations as to what steps Leadtek Corporation should take to
ensure the success of the next phases of their ERP implementation and maintenance.
Consider the options that would be available today.
Following are some of the recommendations that can be given to Leadtek in order to make sure that it
does not fail in the implementation of ERP project Management System in the organization, and execute
it perfectly in the next phase of it.
One of the first recommendation that would be given to the Leadtek for the proper implementation of
the ERP project management system is the one that is being discussed in the whole report. The
employees of the organization should be properly introduced to the new system and proper training
must be provided to them in order to make sure that when the real system is implemented, there are
minimum issues that are faced by the employees and they can adjust with the new change in the
organization after the implementation of ERP project management system as soon as possible.
Some kind of Maverick Behavior was also seen in the ERP project management system when it was
implemented in maverick. This issue might have been occurred as improper system was chosen for the
organization from the vendor. Hence it would also be recommended to the Leadtek that the vendors
from whom the system have been demanded must be an experienced vendor who is having an idea of
what kind of ERP system would have to be implemented in what kind of organization. The behavior that
was seen in the earlier ERP system that was implemented in Leadtek was observed as the system was
perfect and working properly but it was not compatible with the workflow of Leadtek and hence the
procedures and hierarchy that was followed in Leadtek were not followed by the ERP system properly.
Another one of the issues that occurred in the organization of Leadtek was that the various departments
were feeling that they have lost the power over the processes after the implementation of the ERP
which they had before the implementation of the same. This lead to the lack of motivation of employees
to work and ultimately they started to leave the organization. Therefore it would be recommended to
Leadtek to make sure that the employees of the organization have properly understood the change in
the workflow that would be occurring in the organization after the implementation of ERP. Proper
planning must be done by the employees as well as the authorities prior to the implementation of ERP
so that it won’t be a surprise for them when the changes start to occur and no perception of loss of
power would be observed too (Schiff, 2016).
It also has to be understood by the authorities of Leadtek that ERP systems take a long to get adapted
with the norms of the organization in which they are introduced. In the earlier try, the system was
suddenly removed in after 24 months and no proper alternative was planned out which also lead to a
heavy loss to the organization. The whole planning of the ERP system implementation must be done in
such a way that minimum expectations must be kept for the time in which it is least efficient and then
slowly more and more operations must be assigned to it so that the outcomes provided by the system
are efficient as per the various stages of implementation of ERP project management sytems
(Batchmaster, 2017).
Another one of the most important recommendation that must be given to Leadtek is to do a proper
documentation of every step or every activity that is being done in the ERP system. ERP system are very
complicated and hence it is hard to retrace the steps that are taken in order to perform certain tasks
and hence with a proper documentation of all the steps it would be very easy for even a new user to
ensure the success of the next phases of their ERP implementation and maintenance.
Consider the options that would be available today.
Following are some of the recommendations that can be given to Leadtek in order to make sure that it

Conclusion
The following report talked about the various challenges as well as their solutions that we face by the
organization Ledtek while doing the implementation of ERP project management system. The whole
report was based upon the dos and don’ts ERP project management system and discussed how it can be
successfully be implemented in any organization and how major number of organization fail to
understand its value as it is a time consuming process. In the course of this whole report, whoever goes
through it would be having a basic idea about the pros and cos of the usability of the ERP system and
the importance of choosing a proper vendor in order to implement the system in a proper manner. The
report also discussed about the falures that were faced by Leadtek in implementing ERP systems and
recommendations were provided to them for making sure the same does not happen again in the next
phase of implementation.
