1.0 Introduction
This assignment is based on the study of the organisation called SINTEF Ltd. which based
on the study of the functional activities and have the proper responsibility of each department
such as engineering, information technology, finance and much more. The concerned project
provides the learning of the variation of the lean principles which implement in the
organisation through the aid of the leading practices in an effective manner. The organisation
have a team called “The A-Team” which need the proper significant leadership style which
gives aid to implement the lean principle in the organisation. On the other hand, the
assessment gives aid to provide the knowledge that characteristics of the leading team need to
be classified to attain the objectives in the proper manner. The manager of the SINTEF
Company takes help from the lean principle to manage the workforce of the company and
increase the efficiency of each individual employee. Alternatively, this report is helpful to
enhance the key activities of the team to make the team more efficient and manage the
workforce of the team.

2.0 Comparison of leadership styles
The leadership is the kind of element of the management which handle by the managers of
the organisation and this is the truth that without any leadership quality, the managers fail to
achieve the target of the company. SINTEF Ltd. Company has the responsibility to each
department of the company to which manages the workflow through the employees. The
managers of the company need to implement the lean project in the organisation so that
manages the department of the company in an effective way (Grossman, et. al., 2016). The
managers of the company have the ability to properly manage the lean project which
automatically leads the work of the department easily. The managers of the organisation
should have some leadership quality which success the business in the competitive world
such as democratic, coaching, coercive, and authoritative which is mention underneath:

Negative aspect: The negative point of this leadership is that it takes lots of time and cost in
the process of operations and it is also hard to take the decision in regards to important
aspect.
Coaching: This leadership process is long term objective which generally helps to
enhance the performance of each employee and build the ability to faces the difficulty in the
terms of the company’s growth. The coaching leadership provides the aid to improvise the
skills and performance of the employees to get higher production which makes the business
more successful in the competitive world.
Positive aspect: The leadership of the manager is flexible for the employees and subordinate
to freely give their point of view in each aspect (Grossman, et. al., 2016). This makes the
employees more efficient to get the outcome in the future and maintain sustainability in the
organization.
Negative aspect: This leadership is not properly effective and have the short term ability for
the success of the business and this leadership quality generally forces the employees to get
the result which feels pressure by the employees.
Coercive: This leadership style encourages the dominate nature in the managers in
the regards of the subordinates and creates their own rules and regulation which forcefully
followed by the subordinates. The managers create their own ideas which impose by the
employees of the organization. This type of leadership style does not allow others to put their
opinion in the organization which reflects the influence of the managers.
Positive aspect: The leadership build the ability in the administrator to take the instant
decisions which based on the priority of the business such as maximize the profit of the
company and much more.
Negative aspect: This leadership style is not good because of it harms the capability and
efficiency of the employees and stop the creativity and innovation of the employees due to
the lack of listening to the views of the employees.

Authoritative: In the study of this leadership style to get the knowledge that the
manager always encourages the opinion and vision of the employees so that achieves the
objective in their way. This leadership style creates the proper supervision and guiding ability
to lead the team and make clear about the objectives of the organization in an effective

Positive aspect: The positive impact of authoritative leadership is helping to make innovative
changes in the organization and attain the objectives of the organization in the proper way.
Negative aspect: The negative aspect of this leadership is an increment of the partialities in
the organization and also fails to take quick decision in hard situations.

and provides proper guidance to enhance the ability of each individual so that tasks
accomplish in an eventual way. In the above section, the report discussed the various
leadership styles but the Democratic leadership is the most effective leadership chosen by
SINTEF Ltd. so that attain the objectives of the team. The description of the Democratic
leadership is mention underneath:
Democratic leadership:
This leadership style is helpful for the managers to consent the functions for the subordinates
and get the innovative ideas from the employees to take the proper decision in the proper
way. This leadership style gives aid to increase the flexibility in the organisation so that get
the effective performance by the subordinates (Ayres, 2019). The democratic leadership is
helpful to get an effective outcome through the efficient performance of the employees which
possible after the implementation of this leadership style. The lean project becomes more
effective after the implementation of this leadership style in the organisation and manages the
resources of the company. The Democratic leadership have their own benefits which are
mention in the below section:
Assignment of responsibility: democratic leadership is helpful to emissary the
responsibilities of SINTEF Ltd. that is easy to reduce the workload from the employees. On
the other hand, this leadership encourages the managers and leaders to focuses on the other
activities of the company and understands the issues of the employees in the proper way. The
employees increase their efficiency with the aid of this leadership and develop the skills to
achieve the objective of the organization.

the proper way and this is necessary that characteristics enhance “The A-Team more valuable

Consistent characteristic: The effective team is helpful and reliable for the activities
of the organization and scalabilities the organization in an effective way which is helpful to
attain the objectives of SINTEF Ltd. On the other hand, this characteristic gives aid to meet
the targets and accomplish the tasks before the deadline.

efforts without accepting any individual profit.
