Introduction:
Lean project management is known as the application of manufacturing lean project principles
while practicing the management of the project. The main objective of lean project management
is to increase the value and respect by minimizing the waste in the production or manufacturing
of the product. It is very important for each and every type of company to decrease the amount of
wastage within the process of manufacturing by applying some of the safety measures in the
production activity. Due to the help of lean project management the time of production reduces
which is very important to produce more in less time. Storage cost is also reduced due to the
utilization of lean project to manage the manufacturing and production of the company.
In this study, there is a manager in a very big consultancy firm which provides consultancy for
the process of project management. The consultancy company wants to undertake the work or
contract of government, but it was informed by the government to that company to show or
present their principles of lean project management within the process of project management
before applying to the work of government work. The directors of the company have come up
with the decision that they have to show or introduce their lean project in front of the
government and their collection of future project management which will gradually make them
eligible for the government work.

1. The initial reason for implementing the LPM
The manufacturing businesses of any type of company have to go through a very difficult time in
the competition in the entire market place globally. Lean project management has an emerging
effect in a very successful manner in the production of the manufacturing line and companies
have been focusing on the customers and a higher level of competition in the market and on
satisfying the customers is very important in the business (Sohi, et. al., 2016).
The lean manufacturing strikes away and decreases the activity of non-value work and for the
process of manufacturing, here is some main reason to why it is important to use the lean project
management in the company whose business in to manufacture products:
 Streamlines the processes of the company or organisation: The application of lean
permits the company who manufactures a product to streamline the process by the entire
organisation surrounded by the competitors. The front office of the company all the way
is to distribute or allocate the lean project in the whole process of manufacturing the
goods which are demanded by the customers. The manufacture of the products have to be
done very carefully otherwise it has a very high level of changes in wasting the raw
material which can be used in the manufacturing process in a very effective and efficient
manner but but most of the companies do not focus on the wastage which is generating in
the company they only focus on the higher amount of producing which is not very
important. The efficiencies are monitored by the company which is very important for
them to understand and should work with full potential which is highly beneficial for the
company in both monitory and motivational manner.
 Remove waste: lean project management always addresses the nine fields or areas of
waste like inventory, motion, waiting time, quality, transportation, information,
creativity, processing, overproduction and underproduction. By excreting the waste, the
company has various types of opportunity to finish or stop the time wasting on
performing unnecessary task or activities within the organisation (Sunder, 2016). If a
company is wasting its time doing or performing the task which is not useful or necessary
for the company or which will not going to benefit the company, the members of the
company should stop these types of activities or task and should focus on those type of

activities which is beneficial for the company or organisation and help them to achieve
the goals and objective so of the organisation in a very effective and efficient manner.
 Commitments building: If a company wants to create a lean operation then they must
know that change is very important and necessary for the company. The employment of
the lean operations is needed in the company so that they can be attentive for the
activities performed by all the team members of the company.
 Never ending job: the important elements of the lean is to improve the methods of
production of the company regularly or continuously. There are frequent opportunities or
chances for becoming leaner in the process of production or manufacturing of goods
which will eventually satisfy the customer in a very effective and efficient manner.

2. Describe the benefits that can be gained by the various stakeholders in a project
from implementing LPM
The benefits which are gained by the stakeholder while applying the lean project management in
the company that they will be able to produce more product by decreasing the number of wastage
of raw material in the process of production. It is also a type of profit for the company if they are
manufacturing product by saving the raw material and using that in the manufacturing process
because this is very economical and efficient for the company (Arun, 2016). It also reduces the
cost of raw material because if the wastage of raw material will be less then there will
automatically decrease in demand for raw material in the company and this habit is a very cost
soothing activity which will gradually help the finance department of the organisation. The usage
of a lean project for the companies is very helpful in order to save the raw material for
maintaining the better level f production in the company for a longer period of time. Lean project
is the life saviour for all the stakeholder because it helps them by stopping them from investing
their money in the unnecessary task and activities of the company and monetary benefit is the
main benefit for each and every company.
Here are some of the benefits which are gained by the company’s stakeholder after the
implementation of lean project management method:
 The main benefit which is gained by the stakeholders of the company is that they can
increase the profit of the company by decreasing their cost of raw material by saving the
wastage of raw material in the production process of the company. The process of
production should be performed very carefully and with extra care so that there can be a
higher amount of production in the less amount of raw material which was used by the
company usually in the manufacturing process (Brioso, 2015).
 It also helps in increasing the level of the company in the market because if the company
satisfies their customers in a very effective and efficient manner then the goodwill of the
company will automatically going to increase and there will be loyalty amongst the
customers which is very important for all the company. It is not easy for the companies to
win the heart of customers because providing that they want is very difficult and if any
company wants to learn this method they should be experienced in understanding the
requirement of the products and produce the same.

 The other main benefit which is earned by the stakeholders that it also reduces the burden
on the manufactures for finance and investment for the expansion of the business because
due to decrease in wastage company profits automatically increases and they can buy or
expand their business as they want without asking for the funds and investment from
other firms or finance companies (Anholon and Sano, 2016).

3. Describe the Critical Success Factors (CSF) needed to be in place within the
consultancy organisation to achieve successful implementation of LPM
Critical success factor is known as the factors or activities which are critical and needed for
ensuring the success of the organisation or business. The term critical success factors are used in
the area or field of business analysis and data analysis. The CSF has been utilised importantly to
show or present some necessary factors that a consultancy firm should concentrate on making the
other companies grow and help them in earning a high amount of profits. Consulting other
companies on the usage o lean project management is very important because it really helps
them in most of the activities in the company and makes them understand whether the activity
which is performed by them is valuable or not.
It is very important for the consultancy firm to understand the importance of the lean project and
should also know the procedure of how to apply this method, so that they can help other
companies with lean management project. Success is not only achieved by managing the workers
of the company or improving the promotion methods of the company but it can also be achieved
by decreasing some bad habits within the company and it is more effective and logical in all
ways (Sousa, et. al., 2018). To solve the inner problem of the company is also very important to
reach the heights of profit because if the inner working condition of the company is suitable the
company can automatically reach to that level where they can be successful. The successful
implementation of lean project management within the consultancy firm is also very important
because the number of consultations which is given by the firm to other companies then it should
be perfect and helpful for the companies so that they can achieve their desired targets in a very
effective and efficient manner. The consultants of the firm should not give inextricable solutions
to the problems of the company related to production because it will automatically lead to the
loss of company and if any company goes into the loss by taking the advice of this consultancy
firm then they will definitely give bad results to other people about the company. It should be
placed within the organisation so that it can help in analysing the working environment of the
other companies so that firm or consultants of the firm can provide best and suitable advice to
the customers and make them satisfied with the services provided (Brioso, 2015).

4. Describe the steps by which you propose to ensure CSF are in place and how to
achieve the LPM mindset within the consultancy staff
To ensure that Critical Success Factor (CSF) is in place it is very important to understand how to
place the CSF in its place and what is the place of CSF. The success factors should be placed at
that place where the organisation is unable to work or if working then not working up to the
mark. The places which are not working properly should be sent under the area of critical
success factor. The critical success factors should be applied in those areas of the company or
organisation where there is a lot of problems going on and where workers are not working for the
best of the company. It is the duty of the members of higher administration to understand where
they want to support and where they are strong because it is easy to grow what is growing
continuously but it is difficult for every type of firm to bring the department of the company
which is not doing well. So, companies should take the help of critical success factor so that they
can make themselves able to grow on their own can maintain that growth for the longer period of
time without any mistake and without any hesitation (Sreedharan and Sunder, 2018). The
methods which can be used by the consultancy firm to understand the best place for critical
success factor are as follows:
 To apply the critical success factor in the organisation company should understand the
need for it and where to apply it because applying this factor unnecessarily may lead to
some negative changes in the company.
 After analysing the need for the application of factor in the Company should understand
where to apply it because the right place will lead to the right growth of the company. An
organisation should understand whether it is necessary to use the critical success factor or
the consultants of the company can work on their own with full understanding (Irujo and
Perez-Ezcurdia, 2017).
To achieve the lean project management between the consultancy staff is not easy because lots of
things need to keep in mind while applying the lean project management on the staff members of
the company.

 The company should consult in a very practical manner and with full facts and figures
because no fake news should be supported by any member of the company otherwise
they can get into trouble that is why a lean project is important for the company to apply.
 The projects should be prioritised so that the company can choose the best alternative
from all the options available to them. The consultant staffs should provide various
alternatives to their customers so that they can select the best option among them and
which can help them to understand the business in a better manner.

5. List and describe training requirements for individual staff
Training is the process in which company gives and teaches the tricks and techniques of the
working of the company and also helps them in understand the culture of the organisation so that
they can work in the company in a very effective and efficient manner. Training is very
important for the company also because it helps in increasing the productivity of the workers or
employees so that they can contribute to the growth of the organisation without any flaws and
faults. To skip the problems while working on the actual work the company tries to make
workers familiar with the working environment of the company and how they have to serve the
company in their time duration. Training provides the worker's outline of the work and also gives
them a demonstration of how to work without putting extra effort and how they can give their
best in the job. Training also helps workers to understand their strength area and weakness and
how to improve in the areas where they lack which will eventually increase the productivity of
the company and development of queries will be less (Adedeji Afolabi, et. al., 2019). Without
the training in the company no one can do or perform their activity because it is very difficult of
any person to just start any work without knowing the culture, nature, working environment and
type of work. It is also known as the type of process in which people meet with their work and
get to know about it in detail so that they can create any mistake while working on the main job.
The requirement of training within the company is highly important for making that employee or
workers in the main position of working and they can also contribute to the production activity of
the company without any problem or issued (Rodríguez-Segura, et. al., 2016). It can be possible
that an employee can commit mistakes after completing their training because of the changes in
the working operations of the company or they haven’t concentrated in their training session but
it is necessary to understand that completion of training doesn’t make employees full-fledged
experienced worker. To become a skilled worker employee should keep important things in mind
which is very necessary for the workers to work without an issue if they concentrate on their
training session. Training is like an exercise before going on to the actual work. Training is
always required by both workers and employees so that they can learn how to work in a very
effective and efficient manner in order to make them contribute something good to the company.

6. Describe your method to assess when the consultancy has sufficiently adopted the
LPM approach to be able to tender for government work
In order to take the government tender company should be perfect and meet the guidelines of the
government to take the work of the government. To undertake the government work is not easy
because to fulfil the requirement of the government is also not simple. If the company wants to
join the government work company must sufficiently adapt or apply the lean project
management approach so that they can successfully undertake the work of the government.
Consultancy firm should adopt this method if they want to work for the government. The
government always want their work to be perfect because they don’t want to get failed and
scolded by the people of the country.
To work for the government is always the end goals of every company because it helps them to
increase their name in the market and also their prestige in the country which they would not be
able to get if they work for the private companies. The competition in the consultancy firm is
also not less because so many companies have different ideas to increase the productivity and
profit of the company (Netland, 2016). The only difference is that if any consultancy firm or
company is able to give the best and suitable answer or advice to the solution of the problem then
they can be in demand because they solved the problem of the company which was not able to
solve by other firms or people (Kiani Mavi and Standing, 2018). Lean management project is
very important to be the best in business because it provides unique ideas to all the problems of
the company and has helped for the betterment of the company so that they can achieve their
goals and objectives in a very effective and efficient manner. The government have some
guidelines and rules which every company has to follow and fulfil all the requirements
demanded by the company and if they are unable to bring their level on their requirement then
they will automatically reach to the heights of success in less time. But this work asks for
handwork and dedication which needs to be followed by consultancy firm (Cherubini, et. al.,
2015).
