Introduction
Sports industry have become one of the growing industry over the world, it is estimated to be
$500 billion worth worldwide. Nowadays, varieties of events are being conducted in the
sports industry at the global level with an aim to achieve multitude goals and objectives. Not
only for athletes, but sports also provides a lucrative and continually growing marketplace
worthy of immense investment to business people. Associations which are involved in
managing or handling the operations of such sports events are needed to the emphasis on
proper time scheduling, planning activities as well as maintaining strong budgets in line; it
supports ineffective completion of sports events at the global level (de Carvalho, et. al.,
2015). The present assignment is based on a sporting event named FIFA 2022 World Cup
Football Tournament that is going to be held in Qatar. For this purpose, there will define
several stakeholders which are involved in this FIFA 2022; the concept of stakeholders
management will also discuss as per the book of PMBOK. A long discussion will also make
on Lean project management in the given project. At last, processes of lean project
management, such as – Operation project management, Lean Six Sigma and Agile practices
will also elaborate.

According to Prince2 guide, stakeholder management is a critical aspect of project
management which entails with a process of establishing and sustaining support from all
parties which are from a new project. A stakeholder can be anyone who is having some
amount of interest in project or event, irrespective whether the interest can be positive or
negative. Furthermore, stakeholders can be individuals, groups and organisations, as well as
their interest, put a vast magnitude impact on execution as well as decision-making activities
of the project (Rolstadås, et. al., 2014). Therefore, it is essential for project managers or
organisers to manage such stakeholders in an effective manner, by ensuring that their needs
are met and satisfied with project progress. When stakeholders are highly involved and kept
in the loop regarding attributes of a project which directly affects them, it would be facilitated
for managers to work even in difficulties and keep the project on track. In the upcoming
FIFA 2022 World Cup Football Tournament, organisers and sponsors can conduct an
evaluation which enables to identify key participants of the event then recognise their
characteristics and level of interest. Stakeholders management requires to properly
understand the expectations of stakeholders and ask them for clarification if it is needed so as
to sure that they are completely understood.

prepare a list of people involved in it (Brioso, 2015). The main motive here is to prioritize
people on the basis of their impact of decisions and other activities of the event. A wide range
of techniques can be used to identify stakeholders, such as – brainstorming, contract with
vendors and suppliers, social network analysis and so on.
The second stage of the stakeholder management process is categorized the stakeholders on
the ground of their influence and interest. It is important so as to ahead the process of the set
and manage their expectations. In this relation, the power interest grid matrix can be used by
the project or event sponsors; it aids them to classify key participants of an event as per their
role or power. As a result of the analysis is to tailor communications approaches with each
group. The third stage of this process is to develop a stakeholders' management strategy
which assists to increase the supports as well as reduce the adverse impact of stakeholders in
the project life cycle.
After this, there is needed to develop an action plan which enables managers to communicate

Critical stakeholders involved in FIFA 2022
Following are the main stakeholders of the FIFA 2022 World Cup Football Championship –
Sponsors – The World's Football tournament gives an opportunity for companies to become
official partner and sponsors. Companies who sponsor FIFA earn lots of market presence as
well as get financially benefited as well. There are currently seven partners are decided for
FIFA 2022 World Cup, such as – Coca-Cola, Hyundai/Kia, McDonald's, Vivo, Adidas, Visa
V and etc.
Regulatory Bodies – These are the associations who regulate all activities of the event
including federal and local authorities that have the power to regulate aspects of the material
issues of the sustainability strategy.
The government of the nation- As the event is going to be held in Qatar so that government's
decisions play a crucial role in the implementation of the event. Members of Football
association needs to follow up all laws and legislation of government of Qatar.

Overview of the project
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled as the 22nd edition of World’s Federation
Internationale de Football Association. It is quadrennial of international men's football
championship that is contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA.
This time the event is going to take place in Qatar in 2022; it will the first-word cup
tournament which will be organised in the Arab nation as well as in a Muslim-majority
country. The reigning champions of this world cup are France; this is the last tournament
which involved 32 teams afterwards there will be an increase of 48 teams for 2026
tournament. Moreover, the sports event will be started in November and continue till
December, estimations saying that the final would be held on 18th December 2022. Teams
have 28 days of timeframe to win the championship and defending themselves from France.
Role of Lean project management in FIFA 2022
The tactical approach project management is applied to multiple projects or events spread on
a wide range of activities thus they can be operated or handled in a proper manner. Lean
project management is one of the effective approaches of project management which tends to
reduce unnecessary functional activities that involved in a project (Too and Weaver, 2014).
The main focus of lean project management approach is to reduce wastage in projects and

regulatory bodies and so on; in this sense lean project management ensure to satisfy all needs

for successfully arranging of an event. This assignment has stated that a wide range of
stakeholders gets involved in the FIFA 2022 world cup Football tournament, such as –

report has also discussed that repetitive processes and eliminate wastage in events, in this
relation managers can follow the concept of lean project management. It helps in constructing
properly the event activities and delivering to achieve desired outcomes at a wide scale.
