Journal Entry: Learning Dispositions and Leadership Qualities
What
Learning Disposition is refers as the way in which learners engage themselves in learning
process. The direct impact of this ascertained over approach of learners learning along with the
future outcomes. Sometimes, learning disposition is also called as habit of mind. The role of this
is important in effective development or improvement of learning along with the leadership
attributes within an individual. According to this, I needed to have good habit of learning and
grabbing things in positive way.
In this regard, the determinant of quality has direct contribution towards creation of traits
which are competent in nature and having the ability to provide uniqueness to person. The
integration of both quality and disposition help in formulation of characteristics that contributes
in lifelong journey to perform in successive manner along with attainment of goals in accordance
to the predetermined targets (Shek and Leung,2015).
So What
In respect to me, all kind of attributes that have ability to build Proprium are not present
in my personality. The impact of the same is over my leadership ability is negative in nature.
Currently, this disallows me in completion of work on time. The support of the personnels in
completion of my work is also not significant in nature. Overall, this will hinders my ability to
perform in accordance to determined standards.
In accordance to me, all five different kind of traits are not present in me which further
does not have any aid in proper learning and leading. Disappearance of openness trait does not
allows me to try new things that are different and unique in nature and have capacity to
contribute in growth. Also, the presence of introversion trait does not allows to be friendly with
others. The overall impact is ascertained over my ability to build good connections with other
and achievement of goals on time.
Now What
There are many issues which are present in may personality and have impact over my
overall performance. These hinder me to become good leader. Also, due to the presence of such

situation not able to apply qualitative methodologies. The attributes of the two different theories
help in building effective leadership qualities are defined below:
One of the theory related to disposition is provided by GORDON ALLPORT named as A
Dispositional Theory Of Personality. In accordance to the description provided under this theory
determined that Personality of some individual does not contains the bundle of unrelated traits.
The different number of traits which are present within an individual includes consistency, unity
and integrity. This depicts that personality is clear in nature as kind of some of structure which is
further governed by certain important principles. The creation of such structure within the person
is called as Proprium. This is considered as the highest the personality structure that includes all
different aspects related to personality. This resultants into inward unity and consistency in
between the personality of the individual. This will also includes almost all dynamic and
manifests in itself related to the aspect of human behaviour. The different seven stages which
help in development of Proprium within an individual includes Sense of body, Self identity, Self
esteem, Self extension, Self image, Rational coping and Propriate striving. Presence or adherence
of all by an individual has huge influence over the learning capacity and capability. This will
allows in development of the traits which aid always in current or future to learn things properly
that further contribute in performance of professional tasks (GORDON ALLPORT: A
Dispositional Theory Of Personality. 2019).
Another theory named as Five-factor theory of personality focused over the development
of qualitative attributes in the individual. This trait theory represents the five different core traits
which have huge contribution behind the formulation of qualitative human personality. These
five different traits are named as Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism
and Openness. All these have their own role in development of the personality of an individual
that further aid in effective learning and leading in future. The description of all of these as
follows; Extraversion represents the aspect of personality that shows social confident behaviour
of person, Agreeableness represents co-operativeness, Neuroticism as emotional stability,
conscientiousness represents sense of responsibility towards others and openness as willingness
to try new activities (Five-factor theory of personality. 2019).
