1.0 Introspection journal on personal learning and development as
well as transferable skills
1.1 Recognizing and reflecting on my adopted strategy for
personal learning and development
Self-directed learning can be defined as diverse variety in regards with
educational programs, institutional approaches and distinct learning needs (Elfeky,
2018). It is considered as a path in regards with education that take place for
discovering the strengths and interests for creating unique experience based on
specified traits of individuals. It enable individuals in better understanding their
learning capabilities. During my university curriculum, I have joined a module which
is based on the development of skills in business and management which will be
used by me for making my career effective. My learning approach during this module
was to prepare the notes and revising them on a routine basis. This practice had
helped me in learning the lessons of the module. For preparing notes and revising
them, I had made a schedule which contained all my routine activities that I had to
undertake.
I has analyzed that I am not capable of remembering the notes for a longer
time period in respect to a specified subject. For this, I have adopted this approach
of preparing notes and revise them on a continual basis.
Personal development is concerned with looking forward and moving ahead
by focusing on the ways which help in attaining per-determined objectives in an
effective manner (Rose, 2018). For enhancing my personal development, I had
decided to improve my existing skills such as decision-making and time
management. For enhancing my skills, I had joined this module of business and
management for learning new skills which will help me in my employability in future
years.
During the module tenure, I have learned numerous things and improvised my
skills in an effective manner. I have joined lectures in regards with online and offline
aspects. For enhancing my communication skills, I have participated in an interactive
session which is performed on the basis of learning from the module of business and
management. I also read some business journals and magazines which help me to
build relevant notes for my personalized learning in a strategic manner. Through this

Portable skills are concerned with competencies that are needful for a

and programming skills are considered as important for software development
companies. These skills are considered as important for me as it significantly
contributes to the success of a team, individuals and organization in a strategic
manner. This also encompasses of some soft skills such as relationship building as
well as communication.
These transferable skills can be assessed in individuals through performing
self-assessment in a strategic manner (Andersen, 2018). I have developed time
management skills and teamwork skills by attending this module. These skills are
developed by me through adopting a leaning approach of preparing the notes. At the
module activity, we have given a task which is a group one and comprises of
preparing presentation on lessons which have been taught to us till date. I am not
comfortable with making presentation as I believe it to be a time consuming process.
I had consulted with my team members about our strengths and weaknesses in a
strategic manner. We get to know that working in a team is an easy task as all of us
have some sort of skill which can be used as strength.
We work as a team by bifurcating our jobs such as doing research, preparing
presentation and writing notes on the basis of the task. I have also developed
leadership skills by managing a team task. Through gaining effective leadership
skills, I have gain the attributes which help me to understand the task and delegate
responsibilities to team members in an effective manner. I got to know that it is the
responsibility of leader to smoothly run their team and prepare them for unfortunate
events as well as attaining organizational objectives. On the basis of this experience,
I have analyses that development of these transferable skills allows me to take
control of my career path and determine my desired job position in an effective
manner.

skill is considered as vital for individuals as it aid them in solving varied issues in
regards with academic and personal life (Carpenter and Moser, 2020). I want to
solve my issues in context to studies, attending classes on time and preparing for
exams with this problem solving skills. These skills will be developed by me through
brainstorming creative solutions for a specified issue in a strategic manner. For this I
will focus on root cause of the issue for understanding it in a better way.
In accordance with workplace, I want to develop critical thinking skills and
active listening skills. I will learn these skills by attending the module of business and
management in an effective manner. Critical thinking skills is one of the most
important skills which is used by an individual to develop understanding about facts
and evidences which is related to projects to task assigned within an organization.
