INTRODUCTION
There are different educational conditions with the help of which students are able to
learn new things. Students have their own preferred way to learn new subjects. Report will
include different learning strategies that allow one to learn in bestest way. Further report will
include a study plan that students can use to achieve their short and long term goals by studying
in an effective manner.
Learning strategies that allow one to learn best
There are different learning strategies that allows one to learn best and retain the
knowledge for long period. These strategies help the individual to improve their self confidence
and they get motivated to learn in a better way. The respective strategies that student can use in
order to have better learning are as follows:-
Mnemonic strategies:-
With these strategies students are able to memorize different content. Sometime students
are required to memorize some meaningless facts or information, for that type of learning,
Mnemonic strategies are very helpful(Putnam, 2015). There are three Mnemonic devices that
students can use in order to learn effectively and are as following:- Dual coding:- By using non-verbal codes such as images and connecting the same with
different word, students can memorize new set of information for long period. Organisation:- Another device that students can use is to creat consistent box in which all
the respective information is been collected as it helps the student to keep the important
information all together.
Association:- Students can connect different elements altogether to have a meaningful
learning.
With the help of respective strategies, students are able to make improvement in their
memory and both short term and long term memory of the students get enhanced(Hertzog and
et.al., 2017). Not only this, it also enhances the imagination of the students as they can strongly
visualize and can recall the important information whenever they have requirement.
Structural strategies -
Another strategy that students can use in order to learn effectively is to pick the important
information and put that together as one structure. Students can learn by constructing the
important information into conceptual maps, flow charts or with some sort of outlines that is easy

to remembers and stays in mind for long period(Loh and Teo, 2017). When the students organise
the respective course material into small individual ideas, it becomes easy for the students to
access the same.
Generative strategies -
It is very important for the students to incorporate new content into the existing
knowledge that they have(Pilegard and Fiorella, 2016). It becomes easy to learn new things by
making notes or underlining the important parts so that if doubts arise one can ask the same. This
helps the students to have deeper understanding of different information.
Study plan for academic and professional success
It is very important for the students to have an effective study plan in order to get
academic as well as professional success. The study plan includes the following steps:-
Step 1:- Establish short term and long term goals for studying
It is very important for the student to establish short term and long term goals so that they
get focused and can work accordingly in order to achieve these goals. The short term goals of the
students may be to pass the weekly exams or memorize important topics that will be helpful to
clear the exams. However, the long term goals of the students may be to win scholarship or get to
have ideal job in hand. It is also important for the students to analyse how much time they may
take to achieve these goals so that they can work accordingly(Kirmizi, 2015).
Step 2:- List all the important topics that students need to study
The next step is to list the courses and subjects that students need to study in order to
achieve these goals. Making a specific list of topics and courses helps the students to have clear
idea what they have to learn.
Step 3:- Figure out what they need to do
It is very important for the student to figure out what they need to study with respect to
these topics and schedule the courses and subjects accordingly. Students need to reserve their
time for reading and reviewing the respective notes.
Step 4:- Prioritize your list
Next step of the study plan is to prioritize the list and rank the subjects and topics
according to their priority. This helps the students to devote their important time for the topics
that are most important. The topics that are having more weightage can be given more time in
order to get better results(Al-Barrak and Al-Razgan, 2016).

Step 5:- Divide available time into study blocks
It is important to divide the respective time that students have into study blocks and these
blocks can be assigned different subjects or courses. This helps the students to memorize
important topics on constant bases and have a routine to learn the things in positive manner.
Step 6:- Reserve time for non-academic activities
As students schedule their time for studies and achieving their goals, it is also important
for them to reserve time for family and friends in order to relax their mind(Burton, 2017). It
helps the students to create a healthy balance between their academic and personal life. Students
are required to give their time for extra-curricular activities, so that they have a relax mind which
they can utilise in better way.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it is been concluded that it is very important for the students to use
different learning styles in order to achieve their higher goals. Report also concluded that there
are different learning strategies like Mnemonic, Structural, Generative that students can utilize to
learn and memorize the information in an effective manner. Report also concluded that to
achieve the long and short term goals, students are required to prepare an effective study plan.
