1LEGAL ETHICS AND INTEGRITY
Lawyers are vested with the paramount duty to help the ones in need of justice, which
involves compliance of high ethical standards in terms of professional ethics and integrity as
legal personnel. They are agents of law and order of a state, helping the community to incur
justice in case there is a violation of justice along with helping to disbar the offenders and
criminals of the society by producing the right arguments before the judiciary1. Therefore,
their first and foremost duties is towards law and the justice system. While, the second duty
in line for the lawyers is their clients and their legal issues. The client-lawyer relationship is
an excellent example of a fiduciary relationship where the clients put their absolute faith and
confidence upon their lawyers, thereby suggesting that they trust upon the wisdom, sense of
honesty and fairness of their lawyers. Therefore, it could be stated that integrity is the sense
of honesty and transparency that lawyers should possess in terms of their profession2.
