INTRODUCTION
Travel and tourism is the sector whose contribution in the total economy has raised to a great
level. Therefore there is need to understand how this sector works, what all laws are formulated
for development of this industries. Following report is prepared in order to understand the
various ethics and laws that are related to the tourism sector. In this report different laws are
discussed in detail which need to be consider while doing the operations of this business
(Dickinson and Lumsdon,2010). In the following report the importance of the different laws are
also discussed in detail which help the learner to understand how these law operates and how
they provide benefit to the client and also to the management. Apart from this different
challenges are also discussed in detail which are faced by the tourism sector in the present time.

2.1 Impacts of the principles of health, safety and security legislation
For TUI it is very important to maintain the health, security and safety of the people
using their services. The security and safety of the clients as well as of the employees which are
working with the cited company need to be maintained so that it can continue in this business.
Through these legislations the security is maintained that weather the staff is working in the safe
environment or not. The operations are checked which take place in this industry as it deals with
the operations which involve risk also. Legislations in the tourism sector states that the
employees should be provided with required training so that they can carry out their routine
task in more effective manner and without creating any harm to themselves. As in TUI people
come across equipments which may harm them they need to be made aware about its usage so
that accidents can be minimised. The employees are trained as how to react at the time of
emergencies so that they can reduce the rick of the uncertainties (Turner,2011). All the workers
and clients need to be given equal right against safety and no discrimination on the basis of
status, caste or creed should be done. In order to avoid the emergency situation like fire it is
important that the employees are trained to use the equipments like fire extinguisher so that they
can take the precautionary actions on the spot. In the premises of TUI they need to use sighs

boards to assist the clients as well as the employees so that they can get to know about the areas
which need prior attention also warnings to the place which are prone to accidents should be
given in advance (Buhalis and Darcy,2011). All those factors which are needed to be maintained
are as follows:
1. The employees are made familiar to the working environment, property and the recourse
which they will be using.
2. Training for complicated tools and equipments should be given effectively.
2.2 Legislation to equality
Treating everyone equally is the main of the legislations to equality. TUI has to treat all its
employees equal so that an healthy and friendly environment is set in the organisation. As it is a
very vast company where variety of people work under the same roof which makes it more
important to maintain equality. Different factors which are covered under this act are as follows:
Discrimination in sex- This act protects the employees from suffering of any
discrimination on the basis of their gender. Both male and females should be provided
with equal rights so that it does not create any feeling of inferiority. Everyone should be
given equal rights to be educated so that everyone gets equal opportunities of
development (Storrow,2011).
Race discrimination- It includes the elements of nationality, colour and race. In an
organisation everyone should be treated as an employee and not differently on some other
grounds (Gürtin,2011).
Equal pay act- It is very important that everyone who is working at the same level should
be paid equally so that employees do not feel discriminated. Difference in pay promotes
the feeling of dissatisfaction among the employees and therefore their performance also
gets affected because of unfair pay made to them.
Favouritism- In TUI it is important that every new employee is treated equal and
appraisals are give to those who are actually deserving it. Employees should not be given
advantage on the basis of some personal relations or on some other grounds. If the
employees are favoured than it discourages the skilled workers to give their best as they
know their work will not be appreciated (Crozier and Baylis,2010).

other in the same field. They are not given the same facilities as given to those who are in
different groups. And this also increases feeling of inferiority among the employees. After this
another discrimination is done when the employee or the client is a victim of unwanted

3.1 Legislations in travel and tourism
Contract plays an important role in travel and tourism industries. While formulation the
contract both the parties (client and tour operator) agree to the same point and than the contract
comes in force. It bound both the parties towards their responsibility and obligations. In tourism
contracts are made at the time of packages made for the holidays. It is important that the holiday
packages take the responsibility of accommodation and transport. If the customer is not satisfied
with the facilities that are provided to the customer than he can ask for compensation if the actual
services are not same as that of written by the company (Storrow,2010). As before the package
is selected the customers give their requirements that what all will be expected by him during his
trip and than accordingly TUI has to give the services. The contract is prepared in the written
form so that it can be utilised in future. There are different standard elements which are related to
the contract in the tourism sector like:
Offer- It is a detail of the points which are accepted by the offeree. Offerer present this
document to the client for acceptance. Offer take place between two people and both
consent of both the parties is very important (Battour, Ismail and Battor,2010).
Acceptance- It is the situation where the person offering the offer is accepted by the
other person. In the given case it is the acceptance of the provided package by TUI to the
client. It take place after both the parties discuss all the required information regarding
the package.
Consideration- In order to accept the contract it is important to take some considerations
as if it is not taken the contract will remain agreement. In the given case the package
which was given to the client was made as per the consideration (Holden,2016).

4.1 Ethical dilemmas faced by the travel and tourism sector
In travel and tourism sector there are many problems which can arise and also faced by
the TUI group. If the plan related to tourism is not effective then it can not be succeed and also
company can not achieve the target market. There are some ethical factors which can affect the
travel and tourism sector which is described as below:
Fair trade tourism principles: Every company or organisation has their own principles,
rules and regulations and it is necessary for customers to follow it properly. Trends and values of
the society changed day by day. No organisation can survive in the market by using traditional
methods. They need to use modern technologies for their business so that they can survive and
also compete their competitors (Chuang Liu and Lee,2014). Every customer wants their tourism
package more effective and attractive. If TUI group use old methods then they can not attract
customers and so that they will loose more customers and also they can go to other company.
Traditional methods can also create or develop difficulties in the business. It is also necessary for
the tourist or customers that they know about the policies of the TUI group so that they can not
get cheated by them. So that customers can not get hurt. So it is necessary for the manager of
TUI group that they must follow the modern methods of travelling so that it will helps to provide
more enjoyment and pleasure to their customers. Manager also provide best services to them that
will help the TUI group to achieve more profits and enhance the reputation in the marketplace
(Turner,2011).
Animals in tourism: It is extremely trying for audacious guests and animal significant others on
the grounds that in a few ventures , animal are not permit towards this it is unsafe for other
people who are in the group. Yet, this can be mischief the estimations of travellers and don't like

then he or she can get punished. But there are many sectors like hospitality where children do
work. Those organisation or company who appoint the children they do it against the law and
also give negative impact in the mind of customers. This behave also assume as a unethical.
4.2 CSR policy of a travel and tourism
It is the main duty or responsibility of the TUI group to focus on the corporate social
responsibility. CSR is generally concerned with the social practices and benefits. It may also
includes some government practices and there are also some laws that can affect the performance
of TUI group. It is also very necessary for the company or organisation to utilize the available
resources properly and also need to aware about the environment (Whittaker,2010). For the
development of ecological benefits they can produce green products. They can also generate or
develop awareness regarding green and healthy products among the customers. The sector which
is related to travel and tourism also require social welfare so that they can compete their
competitors at the marketplace. They can also conduct some activities regarding this purpose that
will also help TUI group to enhance their profits. If organisation fulfil their CSR activities
effectively then it will also help them to achieve the goals and objectives of them (Cohen, 2014).
TUI group can also prefer the efficiency related to carbon because that will be helpful for
them to raise the funds for their business activities and also helpful for the fulfilment of the CSR
