This research project, conducted at James Cook University (JCU) under the course BX2174, examines the concept of leisure shopping within the context of Australian tourism and shopping villages. The study investigates consumer behavior, motivations, and expenditure patterns through surveys of both tourists and residents. Key findings reveal that leisure shopping is a significant contributor to the Australian economy, particularly in villages offering unique shopping experiences. The research highlights the preferences of different demographic groups, with females and those on day trips or shorter holidays showing a greater inclination towards leisure shopping. The report also analyzes the factors influencing consumer choices, such as product preferences and spending habits. Recommendations are made to enhance leisure shopping experiences, including customized tour packages, the introduction of local product shops, and opportunities for cultural immersion. The report concludes with a bibliography of relevant sources.
