LEISURE AND HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
Introduction:
The assignment would be mainly based on a reflective account about my time
management attributes in details. This reflection would focus on the important inputs made in the
time diary to analyze the activities that I perform throughout the day. It would focus on my
abilities in time-deepening, time famines in details. It would also show how the activities done
by me mainly affect my emotions and create stress in me. At last, it would discuss my health
conditions and how I can ensure better well-being.
Overall time use:
The time analysis has given me interesting information which had surprised me to a large
extent. Initially, I used to feel that most of the part of my day is spent on work and that I get no
quality time for myself. However, the data that I have accumulated showed me a different aspect.
The category that took most of time is “personal hours”. I have spent about 33 hours in personal
hour’s category where 17 hours is spent for work and 22 hours for leisure activities in the three
years. Secondly, I have felt myself to be highly tired in the weekdays as the scope of getting
good number of hours for leisure activities is quite less. However, I get a good amount of leisure
hours for myself on weekends for which I feel much happier and less fatigued on the weekends.
My leisure activities had only few hours of YouTube use and online video games and most parts
of the leisure hours were spent for other activities. Most of my leisure activities included reading
news and books, watching starts, going for sky-diving classes, chatting with friends and similar
others which rarely included any technologies.

LEISURE AND HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
Time famine and time deepening:
Time famine can be explained as the term that refers to the universal feeling where an
individual feels that he has too much to do but does not have enough time to deal with those
demands successfully (Malkoc et al., 2018). Time deepening can be explained as the shift from
thinking of doing things in either-or-times to doing the activities simultaneously. There are lots
of instances where I find myself engaged in time deepening activities but mostly time deepening
is found by me in the personal categories more with little time0deepining in leisure hours and no
time-deepening in working hours. Reading news and eating breakfasts, checking emails and
talking with girlfriends, travelling to school and playing music and similar others, taking dinner
and chatting with roommates. Therefore, it can be seen that I often participate in time-deepening.
Feeling of time-famine is rarer as I have the ability to plan my schedules in ways where I never
find that I am running out of time.
Emotions and stress variables:
Stress is the body’s way of responding to any form of demands and can be caused by
both good as well as bad experiences (Seaward, 2017). When individuals feel stressed because of
something happening in their lives or going around them, the bodies respond to them by the
release of chemicals in the blood. Emotion can be described as the strong feeling that is derived
from one’s circumstances, relationships or moods with others (Kristjánsson, 2016). Time
analysis had shown that taking classes and doing homework created the highest level of stress
and even emotions were also found to be mostly negative during taking classes and doing
homework. Hence, stress and negative emotions were found to be quite higher in the weekdays
when I had to attend school and take classes, do homework and participate in reviews. The stress

level was lowest on weekends with occurrence of no stresses in activities in attending parties,
watching stars, light fireworks, playing video games and even in washing and rinsing. However,
in most of the cases there had been a proper balance between negative and positive emotions that
I faced and hence, it did not affect my well-being at all.
Health and wellness:
During my leisure hours, I mainly try to walk to hubs, libraries, go to gym, play
badminton and similar others. I also spend few hours of my leisure time in watching YouTube,
playing videogames and face timing with girlfriend. However, I have realized that the amount of
walks and the physical activities I undertake is not enough for keeping me fit. Stress can result
in obesity and weight gain which may in turn result in various complications like diabetes, heart
disorders, arthritis and others in the later years (Peters et al., 2015). Stress might also result in
restlessness and lack of motivation that can impact on my academic career and later on
professional days. Although, I am emotionally and psychologically well because of getting the
scope of socializing a lot with fiends, girlfriends and other people, my physical health might be
impacted. I need to ensure that I develop holistic health where I would have well maintained
physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual health. I am quite satisfied psychologically and
spiritually. In order to develop my physical health, I would participate in rigorous physical
activities, relaxation therapies from stress like deep breathing, meditation, yoga, tai chi or getting
a massage and others
Conclusion:
From the above discussion, I have realized that I do not suffer from problems of time
famines as I can schedule my timings appropriately. However, I do participate in time deepening

my working two activities simultaneously. I also have found out that most of stress and negative
emotions take place during taking classes and doing homework. However, the stress-level on the
weekends are quite low as I participate mostly on my leisure activities that give me happiness.
However, most of the leisure activities include walking and being indoors. Most of the indoor
activities are relaxing but give less time for physical labor. Hence, I need to engage in intensive
exercising activities and thereby need to allocate times for regular workouts to keep myself fit.
