INTRODUCTION
Communicative approach of teaching is defined as an approach to language teaching in
which the main analysis is based on interaction in context with both means and the overall goal
of study. It basically means to determine certain lessons of grammar which involve
communicative tasks. The main objective behind communicative approach to teaching is on the
idea that learning about language in a successful manner so that the real meaning can be
determined. In terms of communicative approach to teaching they have the role and
responsibility of determining certain solutions in context with enhancing communication
(Widjaja, Groves and Ersozlu, 2021. The below report is based on two approaches that are grammar
translation method and communicative approach. In terms of grammar translation method it
means the way of teaching foreign languages as determined from classical methods of all
teaching aspects in both Greek and Latin. In context with communicative approach it refers to
the concept of idea behind learning language successfully to determine real meaning.
MAIN BODY
Grammar translation method
In term of grammar translation method all type of foreign languages are been taught.
Students learn about different grammatical rules and then apply it with respect to translating
sentences with respect to both target language as well as native language. This method mainly
focuses on rules and words of grammar rather than on its pronunciation. There are two
assumptions behind grammar translation method that is language learners must have good
knowledge of all grammar as well as other languages and they also should have the ability to
translate all texts in association with their target language. In context with principles, features it
is further been explained as below:-
Principles of grammar translation method:-
In context with aspect of teaching they must have the authority as their main role in to
transfer knowledge to all learners and in order to provide instruction the medium to use is
their native language. It is been analyzed that this method is a teacher centered method in
an extreme way.
All learners must be able to read the fiction in context with their target language and in
accordance with it learn everything about words and grammar. They do not play an active
role while doing any kind of interaction and doing their learning.

In terms of superior language the literary language is more important. While learning any
kind of language it means to read everything and translating into the target language.
The main focus in teaching language is to enhance the learner’s ability to ready and
translate everything in effective manner(Guberman and Tsybulsky, 2021).
The focus is never on fluency or pronunciation of words. It is mainly on accuracy. The
translation of grammar is done in a systematic way by enhancing the teaching of all
grammatical rules.
Features:- The most important feature is that it focuses on reading as well as writing rather than
paying attention with respect to speaking( Grether and et.al, 2021).
All vocabulary words are chosen from the reading aspects. Teachers teach about all such
words with the help of dictionary and memorization also.
The main aspect of teaching is its sentence. All the lessons are in the form of sentence
translation from and into the target language.
The approach which is used in grammar translation method is use of deductive approach.
It is been used in grammar. In context with this approach all rules gets presented and then
been studied. Through this approach students get to learn about certain translation
exercises( Murniat, and et.al, 2021).
Communicative approach:-
In terms of communicative approach to teaching it refers to the concept of learning
language successfully while communicating it with its real meaning. When all learners are
involved in real communication they had to apply certain strategies to enhance their learning. In
terms of its principles and learning it is been explained as below:-
Principles of communicative approach:-
In terms of language learning it is in relation with learning in order to communicate while
using target language.
Whatever the situation is the language should be appropriate to it, the roles and
responsibilities of speaker as well as setting been done. There are two types of style that
is being in a formal way and been in an informal way so language should be used in
accordance with it.
It is very important to have communication activities and all of them should be presented
in context with the specific situation.
Learners should have continuous interaction with their target language.
There are four types of skills which are speaking, listening, reading and writing. With
respect to all these skills the communicative approach gets implemented from the
beginning. ( Goei and et.al, 2021)

In terms of communicative approach the focus is on its meaning rather than how it got
formed.
To manage whole classroom as well as while giving instructions target language is used.
Classrooms must provide various kind of opportunities in context with real life situations
and to deal with all kind of opportunities effective communication is provided.
Mainly the focus is on oral as well as listening skills in classroom.
In this the teaching vocabulary must be used as it will help students to produce more and
develop their reading skills( Suryani and Rismiyanto, 2021).
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is been concluded that while using both the approaches in terms
of communicative approach as well as grammar translation method both is in context with
learning and reading aspects. As in terms of grammar translation method the foreign language is
been learnt while in terms of communicative approach the learning is been done successfully
while communicating it with a real meaning.
