Loneliness has become an emerging issue in current society; this has caught glance on
media and public. Essentially it has led to a lot of questions which needs immediate answers,
what is the cause of loneliness, what the effects of loneliness are, and what remedies on how to
overcome loneliness are. Through my education has a nursing student the issue of lethality of
loneliness has had a direct or indirect impact towards my life (Dumouchel, 2017). Mostly in
today’s generation, the most affected members of society with the issue of lowliness are the
youth between the ages of 18 to 35. Nonetheless, the elderly also are mostly affected by the issue
of loneliness. This paper proposes to discuss the issue of lethality and loneliness in the societal
settings.
Nowadays, people find it is a bit hard to make friends compared to when you go back to
about ten years ago. The most affected with this trend is the youth; the improved level of
technology has catalyzed this. According to research most of the teenagers have virtual friends
(friends on such media). Most of this people don’t have real friends who they can see, feel, and
talk to in person they cannot meet and maybe have a hangout together. Notably, this has led to
loneliness epidemic mostly on the youth (Morioka, Itani, Osaki, Higuchi, Jike, Kaneita, & Ohida,
2016). According to research carried out by mental of health foundation is that the youth are
likely to be affected. The feeling of loneliness always Led one feeling depressed and the sense of
suicidal.
Ideally, loneliness will lead to depression because when a person is affected
negatively, they will need someone to talk, to share their pain (Pilz, MSchmidt-Altmann, &
Eswein, 2015). Additionally, this will make the depressed person have eased on the life if he or
she gets someone to share the feeling and maybe they could be of help in offering advice and

counseling. Having people around you is always good it helps in physical and mental health.
People who have an excellent quality to talk to others and promote social connection are
believed to be much healthier and have high life expectancy. We will always encounter less
stress when we have people who are close to us. According to research loneliness is an adaptive
mechanism, which encouraging has to seek others when our social class is lacking.
When loneliness persists for an extended period example, it leads to poor and physical
mental health. Loneliness always has a wider impaction on everyone physical health. This effect
can lead to sicknesses such as heart disease, poor recovery after surgery, and a decrease in the
immune system which may lead to even death (Simonson, 2018). Some of the factors that have
led to a rise of loneliness are working area. If your working area is further away from your
family and friends, there will always be a gap between social lives has the person will spend
much of the time in work and having less time to interact.
Loneliness experience between the youth and elderly are usually different. You will
always find that the youth are still in a social area but due to much use of social media and
internet also low self-esteem they will prefer to keep on there on. On elderly people, the lack of
mobility and social exclusion is the primary cause of them on being lonely (GuioraS, 2017). On
concern of loneliness among older adults, It mostly results from losing their loved due to death
making it difficult for them to stay in touch with the outside world and is always challenging to
meet new people to interact with due to lack mobility. Additionally, they will lack people to
wash them, help in preparing a meal for them, and glooming.
For the young people on how to deal with the issue of loneliness, the will have to reduce
the time they spend on social media and try to start socializing with real people instead of virtual
friends. In essence, they can join groups in school where they can meet people whom they share

a common interest about how to reduce loneliness on the elderly, the young generation must
work on a community by providing for the elderly and visiting them (Van, 2017). Even though
some formula is being suggested which assists in reducing loneliness. A structure that aims to
increase awareness and understanding of loneliness and echoing has to change the way how our
community runs will have the best reflection on how to rid of loneliness in our society.
