1INFORMAL LETTER
Dear friend Sam,
It’s been April now which counts three months that I have left my home country. Although it
does not seem like a significant amount of time that I have been away from you, I have began to
miss your presence around me. It was such a effortless pleasant time when we used to be
together and now it seems like a hard time without you. Since you are now visiting me from
Saudi Arabia, I would like to tell you the way I have come to make adjustment with the new
setting here along with the information that you have asked.
The UK is the country of Jane Goodall, Willianm Blake and the Rolling Stone that we have
always admired. As a foreign student in this country, there are several exciting ventures to
experience, avenues to explore along with challenges to overcome. It was entirely a new
experience including saving money to finding my accommodation. For the two countries the UK
and Saudi Arabia are mile away from each other, there are certainly several differences between
the two countries. While Saudi Arabia has a desert climate that has extreme weather condition,
Britain is different than it. The summers in Saudi Arabia is extremely hot and extremely cold in
the night time. However, considering weather as the first notable change between two countries,
I must say weather is one of the most famous aspects of the UK. People coming from other
countries seem to be constantly obsessed with the climate and it includes both positive as well as
negative point of view. You will find freezing winter, rains and at the same time people going to
beach calling it the experience of summer. There are four seasons in UK and every season has its
unique features. Although UK does not have extreme weather conditions, it has a wide variety of
conditions on a regular basis.

The cuisine of Saudi Arabia has gone through modification from time to time depending on the
people lived on the land. Saudi Arabia has some staple food that involves bread, hummus, rice
and tabbouleh. The food in Saudi Arabia is mostly influenced by the majority Islamic population.
Spices are very common in the cooked food of Saudi Arabia which is not found in the food of
Britain. Considering the traditional meals there are countless meals cooked every in Britain
homes as well as restaurants. There are mostly eggs, bacon, fried bread, baked beans, sausages
and mushrooms coming down with coffee. Also, it is a wonderful place to find multicultural
food that includes Japanese, Mexican and even Indian food. However for students it is mostly
combined of both fried food and the food made from fine fresh British ingredients that are
prepared with skill and care. As we have the same taste buds, I can ensure that you will love to
try out the different dishes found especially here. Everyone in Britain love to drink tea however
there are lots of drinking options available here. The legal alcohol drinking age is 18.
Both the countries are different from each other however they both have their unique features
and rich culture. We have enjoyed in Saudi Arabia and I am certain that, UK will also be one of
your best experiences similar to mine. I am very excited to show you around the city since I
know you are going to love it soon. I have begun to count the days and I cannot wait to see you. I
am looking forwards to our meeting.
Yours lovingly,
