Infographic Project: LGBT Community Health Challenges

This assignment involves creating two infographics addressing health issues relevant to the LGBT community. The project requires identifying a specific health problem, the at-risk groups, and the social, behavioral, and health system determinants contributing to the issue. It also necessitates proposing at least two interventions that the community, community health agencies, or community health nurses could implement to prevent or support the health issue. Furthermore, the assignment requires an analysis of the potential resistance that might be encountered when implementing the proposed interventions. The student will submit two infographics and a reference list with at least three scholarly sources. The assignment focuses on the mental health complications, discrimination and homophobia among the LGBT community.

• In the research of Steele et al. (2017), it was identified that majority
of the people in the LGBT community are suffering from mental health
complication as they suffer from major healthcare complications and
do not receive any governmental or social support that could help
them to uplift their identity.
• Presence of inequalities, discrimination, racism affects their trust and
believe on the society due to which they cannot trust the society for
their weaknesses or inabilities.
• The USA government has still not developed proper policies and
legislations that protect them from the above mentioned
complications and hence, affects their mental and social disabilities.
• Hence, the mental heath complication among the LGBT community
circulates around the discriminations, racial complications and
homophobia that increases their mental complications. (Heywood &

Interventions for mental health concerns of the LGBT community
• The LGBT community should be provided with a platform to share
their concerns and experiences for the growth and development of
the lost confidence and self esteem so that they can develop the
confidence to struggle with the society for their own identify and
practice (Shearer et al., 2016).
• They should be able to communicate within a group so that they can
share their experience and then develop strategies to overcome their
mental health complications.
• The community should be provided with counselling processes so
that they can share their own complications and their concerns
without any fear or hesitation so that they can develop confidence
and self esteemed.
• They should be educated with the strategies and interventions so
that upon facing discrimination, and homophobia, their mental health
could not get affected (Heywood & Lyons, 2016).
Complication and prevention
• The prevention and resistance that could be faced by the community
or the healthcare professionals could affect achievement of this
communities health and wellbeing abilities.
• Besides discrimination, racism and mental illness for isolation and
homophobia in the community the LGBT community suffers from
critical healthcare complications due to the other factors in which
the health system, society and population plays an important role.
• Due to unacceptability of the LGBT community in the society, they
suffer from hate crime and majority of the people that attack them
are homophobic or are unable to educate themselves about the
community (Shearer et al., 2016).
• The community also suffer from critical healthcare complications and
suffer from mental health complication due to their improper
lifestyle and lack of quality of life metrics.
