INTRODUCTION
Inequality is known as a situation in a society where unequal share of treatment, status,
opportunity are given to people. Discrimination refers to the action of making difference between
one thing and other. There are variety of basis on which these two things are done and the results
of the same are actually adverse. In this report, discussion has been made about social processes
of discrimination, prejudice and stigma on non-binary and transgendered people. Evaluation of
structure, processes and procedures of health service delivery organizations along with
examination of different social processes have been included. Followed by this, these two factors
have affected the lives of such people, nexus has been created among personal biases, prejudices
and stereotypes discrimination in organizations.
MAIN BODY
Discuss and examine the social processes of discrimination, prejudice and stigma
Non-binary gender is that identity of the people which is neither specifically male or
female and sometimes its beyond both genders. They are made part of transgender community
which has broader scope. On the contrary, transgender which is also called transexual are the
individuals which have both male or female anatomies and usually experience about being born
in the wrong body. These are included in the LGBTQ community which is represented by
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. It was developed after considering many cases of
inequality and discrimination towards such people who are not socially accepted(Selmi, 2016).
The individuals belonging to this community have to go through different kinds of
situations as they are not treated a part of the society. They are neglected for rights that are
available to citizens of a country. Discrimination has been faced by them in the form of being
excluded from the activities that are a part of the society. They are not given equal treatment in
health care centres and organizations. The common prejudice of the people is that they are not
normal people hence, should be provided with limited access to justice. This has increased
vulnerability for them as it not only impact their physical health but mental also. Also, they have
to go through the pain of not getting education and employment just like other people do. Not
only this but trans people sees rejection by their own family members and made prohibited to
explore opportunities that are available to them(Schor and Attwood‐Charles, 2017).

Evaluate the ways in which structure, processes and procedures of health services delivery
organisations have affected this group
The basic structure of health services delivery is that every individual should be provided
health care services without any discrimination. Transgender and non-binary people are denied
medical access which often cause big issues such as suicides, mental illness and similar events.
Apart from this, doctors have seen denying medical advices to the patients and due to delaying in
medical treatment(Monk 2015). Also, the prices for such services have increased with the time
and the level of poverty is huge among them. The perception of people towards them often make
the authority of health care organization to deny any discounts or exemption from the final
amount to be paid. This category of people are not recognised in the society due to which
delivery of health organizations shows reluctance in providing quick services. Furthermore, there
has been major delay in developing trans-sensitive health systems which has caused hardships to
them. On evaluating the above matter, it can be said that life of a trans person is difficult when it
comes to health services to be delivered to them, they suffer from many benefits which are given
to people other than the one included in LGBT community. With this, many deaths and other
serious issues have been encountered by them leading to fatal diseases.
Define, discuss and examine the different social processes involved in the inequality and
discrimination
Social processes exist in the society which are followed by people living in there. Each
one of these have their own importance which has been elaborated below: Co-operation- This process is about the co-operation with concerned to sharing of
information among the people living in the society. It is important for the working of the
whole system without any interruption. Every person holds the right to get the
information and use them for their benefit. Individuals of LGBT community are deprived
of any co-operation from different authorities. They lack getting aware about any updates
or vital information which can give them variety of advantages(Luchenister, 2015). Accommodation- According to this process, there are different types of changes that
occur in an environment which every person has to follow in order to adjust in the
society. This is way to minimise the gap between social and culture exist in the society.
People are part of it and should not be neglected or rejected. However, LGBT community
is not treated as a part of social groups. The indifference created for their category can

often be seen. Furthermore, they are not given any recognition in the country just like
other people(Liu, 2017). Sentiment- This process includes the views or opinion which a person feels about
something. There are different factors by which it can be influenced positively as well as
negatively. Every group living in the society has kinds of sentiments which vary person
to person. These are entirely different in the case of LGBT community as there is no
similarities among their thoughts, values, beliefs etc. There should be mutual respect for
each others sentiment but the people from LGBT community are thrown out of their
homes by their family members which hurt their sentiments. Along with this, society
discriminate them by not providing equal opportunities to them in employment or in any
other fields.
Norm- There are norms and customs which prevail in the society and followed by every
person living in there. These are imperative to be a part of the social groups and
participate in various activities. Also, these get modified rapidly according to changes
taking place in a country or society. LGBT community people have to face problem in
complying with the norms but it is not easy for them. Most of such people are not aware
about the same or have limited knowledge. Furthermore, they are made to feel inferior
within the society.
The impact of inequality and discrimination on the lives of LGBT people
Inequality and discrimination can take many forms which affect the lives of LGBT
people to a considerable extent. In the words of International Labour Organization,
discrimination can be defined as “any distinction, exclusion or preference made on the basis of
race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion, national extraction or social origin which has the
effect of nullifying or impairing equality of opportunity or treatment or occupation”. It is illegal
in legal system and no one should be made go through such situations. There are various rules
and legislations which should be followed by every individual so that actions can be considered
lawful. On the other hand inequality, inequality is related with disparities in the distribution of
income, health or any material or non-material asset among the individual or groups. There can
be more than one factor contributing to this(Krieger, 2014).
LGBT suffer from number of events which are the outcomes of discrimination and
inequality. For example, they are not given equal employment opportunities which create issues
3

for them to earn and survive. Also, due to this they lack in professional development which limit
their growth. Another instance could be the medical facilities. There has been seen that trans and
non-binary people are denied these services leading to instant deaths or serious health issues. The
general facilities such as buying something at departmental stores, supermarkets etc. is another
example in which they have to face inequality and discrimination.
These are some of the instances that people from LGBT community has to go through on
daily basis. Many of these are not brought in the notice of the general public or the government.
They direct impact is on the income which make them remain in poverty for a long time. Only
few of them get to make sufficient income by which they can fulfil their basic needs.
Furthermore, certain rights are not provided to them by different organizations including
government as well as non-government. This is a major issue in making their lives worse. Along
with this, they are given limited opportunities in education. In a summarised form, these people
have to face difficult time from their childhood till they get old(Blau, 2016).
Linkages between personal biases, prejudices and stereotypes and organizational and
institutional discrimination and impact on interactions
LGBT people have to live most of their lives in the poverty as they do no get enough
opportunities in employment. There is a common perception that they are not normal people
hence none of them should be given the services that are provided to others. Furthermore, the
people in a country judge such individuals on the basis of their sexual orientations and
categorised them accordingly. The opinions of general people change towards them by which the
treatment to them is also changed. This is the main cause for delaying or denying of the health
services. For example, if a trans has been infected with HIV from any person, then this can
double the pain in them because of the denial of medical treatment. It can be seen as the personal
bias made by health care organizations by making discrimination and treating them unequal.
These all are connected with each other and has huge scope to cover all the individuals.
Trans people are discriminated on different factors such as age by dividing them into old and
young. On this basis, the treatments given to them are also different. Furthermore, the LGBT
community is judged on the basis of their lifestyle and they are not even able to meet their basic
requirements. The interaction of the people from health care organizations is influenced from
different incidents based on the past thoughts which have been prevailing in the society.
