INTRODUCTION
Reflection refers to a thought or writing about some situation (Chung, 2019). The present
report is the reflection report about experience of doing activities in the ABC Library which is
small community library that have rich collection of books with distinct genres. The reflection is
produces by using Gibbs reflection model.
MAIN BODY
Reflection
ABC Library is situated in northern suburbs of Adelaide. In this, I work as librarian who
have responsibilities to manage as well as distribute library resources to its users. To record
detailed information about books and improve services, senior manager has considered
computerised library management system. By experience about performing tasks is explained by
using Gibbs Reflection Model which is a framework that helps in examining experiences and
allows to plan from activities which went well and those that didn't well well. Stages of the
model are as follows:
Description: One of my role in ABC Library is to identify key business data objects as
well as their attributes so to further define them into columns in spreadsheet through MS Excel
or software system. I created various versions of spreadsheet that includes details of books that
are available at library. In Version 1 (V1.0), I recorded the list of entire data objectives along
with their attributes as columns. Further, I added around 10 rows of data that comprises
information about data objectives, authors name and book title. Next, Version 2 (V1.1) covers
updates of records that I highlighted with blue color. Also, some records were additional added
that I highlighted with yellow color. Moreover, in Version 3 (V1.2), my working was to identify
each data object and add them into sheet. In the sheet, more attributes including publishing year
and ISBN were recorded by me so that whenever any user will ask for the book, I will provide
them in no time. The last sheet is named as Version 4 (V1.3) in which I had to remove current
attributes from each data object as well as add 5 more rows of data. I performed my roles in
proper manner so that all the transactions such as book issue, return and many more are done
properly. The system helped me to view all the transactions that occurred at the organisation.
Feeling: Working in ABC Library made be feel motivated as the management is
supportive. Also, using computerised library management system was one of my best experience

as it helped me a lot to record the transactions that took place. Before installation of system, I
have to work on paper and managing paperwork was critical task to do. However, after setting
the system, I was able to record and view all the transactions in less than a minute. According to
me, others people such as management and users were also felt happy as they were getting
responses about the books that are available at the library and the one that are not available
(Cohen, 2017). In the whole situation, I was thinking that what if the system was not
implemented then this could have increased my working and decreased efficiency to manage
information on paper.
Evaluation: From my working in the assignment, I evaluated that some of the things or
actions of mine went well while there were some activities that didn't well. The good things in
the whole assignment was my learning about computerised library management system as it
allowed me to search a book and make certain modifications in book details. However, the things
that didn't went well was identifying data about books as earlier all was recorded in papers that
created huge difficulty for me to identify and record. Other then this, all the things went well in
doing the tasks.
Analysis: From the tasks, it is analysed that things didn't well because of differences in
paper work and software workings (Béres and et. al., 2019). Earlier, I used to record all data
objects on paper or keep soft copy of details of books. However, installing of system have
changed all my workings. The situation, I analysed that it is important to work as per changing
requirements in external business environment so that all the requirements of company and users
are met promptly. My knowledge about managing books helped me a lot to understand about the
tasks and perform them effectively.
Conclusion: In the assignment, I learnt about new way to manage transactions in the
library that is use of computerised library management system. Moreover, I also learned to make
spreadsheets and recording details by adding and deleting data objects concerned with books in
the system. Further, to develop myself, I need to develop my change management skill and
digital literacy skill. These will help me to keep with pace of change in library and develop my
career.
Action plan: I planned to do things differently in library in future (Hayes, 2018). For
this, I have devise an action plan to improve my change management and digital literacy skill.
The action plan is as follows:

CONCLUSION
From the report, it is concluded that an individual either gains favourable or unfavourable
experience from doing some activities or tasks. There are many things which goes well or some
do not go well when tasks are completed in assignment, Gibbs reflection model is a framework
that assist people to reflect on their experience that is gained while performing activities in
assignment.
