AI Summary
This report presents a case study analysis of the Library Management System (LMS) at King's Own Institute (KOI), focusing on the implementation of a reservation system for IT equipment and library facilities. From a Systems Analyst perspective, the report explores the challenges of integrating a reservation system into the existing LMS to allow students and staff to reserve resources, manage costs, and handle booking transactions. The chosen solution is the MIDAS reservation system, which offers features such as online accessibility, real-time updates, integrated invoicing, and resource availability checks. The report highlights how MIDAS can efficiently manage bookings, calculate due dates, and provide library administrators with complete control over the system. The analysis emphasizes the benefits of MIDAS in improving resource management and streamlining the reservation process within the KOI library.

Introduction
The report is based on a case study analysis of the given case study ‘Systems Analysis and
Design’. In this paper, case study will be explored and the key facts will be documented from
a System Analyst (SA) perspective. In this case, KOI is looking to add IT equipment and
facility reservation system to the Library Management System (LMS) (El-Bialy et al., 2016).
Thus, such system will enable students as well as staff to be able to reserve IT equipment and
library facilities. The case of KOI suggests that all of the IT equipment as well as facilities
are having a certain cost associated with them (Webber & Peters, 2010). In this way, this
report is being written from the perspective of a system analyst. Thus, the report is going to
analyse as well as present a solution to the library reservation system problem so that tasks
such as checking for availability of equipment and resources, calculating the due dates and
other booking related transactions can be performed effectively and smoothly (MIDAS,
2020).

Library Management System: MIDAS Reservation System
The reservation system for the LMS of KOI has been chosen as MIDAS (Webber & Peters,
2010). The library can profit from adding such a reservation system to their LMS for better
management. The MIDAS reservation system allows people including staff and visitors to
book as well as reserve the different library facilities and IT equipment. With the help of the
MIDAS software and management system, library admin will be able to add as well as

remove novel IT equipment and other facilities to the LMS and reservation system. In
addition to that, by using MIDAS, admin will be able to change the rates. They should also be
able to modify any special conditions associated with each of them (Edureka, 2020). In
addition to that, the MIDAS reservation system is an innovation in the 21st century. From the
system analyst perspective, MIDAS is a great tool to understand the key role of technology in
the LMS (Educative, 2020).
About MIDAS
It is worth knowing that MIDAS is a reservation system which is very easy to use in the case
of the Library Management System. In addition, MIDAS gives complete control over asset
booking and library facilities reservations along with resource scheduling in a library. The
software tool is completely trusted by businesses and organizations of all sizes and shapes
worldwide (MIDAS, 2020).

The online reservation system is accessible from any web browser, on a computer system,
desktop, tablet, laptop, or mobile device (MacIntosh & O'Gorman, 2015). The MIDAS
reservation system allows the library admin to see at a glance when the appointments and IT
equipment reservations are scheduled in the calendar (MIDAS, 2020). In addition to that, this
software also allows an individual to schedule send booking confirmations, staffing, and
equipment, reminders, and invoices to clients, take bookings or booking requests and put an
end to double bookings and other confusion in the LMS. This MIDAS booking system is

always available as it is online available. It is accessible from the office, home, as well as on
the move. In the case of the library, this MIDAS system will provide the information
efficiently and effectively (LIPSSEE, 2020).
The reservation software can be downloaded, installed, and thereby run through the private
server as well as from the library’s server. These attributes of MIDAS offer great choice and
flexibility to the library staff and admin too (Lewis, 2018).
The system analyst has suggested this software for the library reservations which can also
access and show the cost associated with the equipment and library facilities for the booking
and reservations. The designed reservation system MIDAS can be added to the library system
in order to perform tasks like checking for the availability of equipment and resources in the
library (MIDAS, 2020). At the same time, MIDAS is able to calculate the due dates as well as
booking associated transactions within the Library Management System (Webber & Peters,
2010).
Key features of the Reservation System Software
MIDAS is very easy to download, install and run on an offline as well as an online
system (Davis, 2020)
MIDAS is having live timeline means with the help of scheduling grid, it updates
real-time data so that library admin can see which bookings are currently taking place
in real-time.
MIDAS allows a library admin to click, drag for adding bookings in the scheduling
grid
MIDAS has versatile print-outs
MIDAS can run in the web browser as well
MIDAS enables online voice payments
MIDAS checks resource availability at the time of reservation which ultimately stops
double bookings (Educative, 2020)
MIDAS has integrated invoicing (MIDAS, 2020)
MIDAS always accepts public booking requests
There is an automatic database backup
MIDAS can be integrated with the leading global payment processor Stripe
MIDAS enables colour-code bookings
MIDAS provides a clear and crisp Web interface

MIDAS offers multi-browser support (Edureka, 2020)
MIDAS provides complete history for every booking and reservation (Webber &
Peters, 2010).
Conclusion
In whole, the given case study related to Library Management System at the given institute
KOI. From the perspective of Systems Analysis and Design, the case study has been
analysed. The designed and analysed software for resolving the library reservation problem is
MIDAS software. The KOI can add facility and IT equipment reservation system to the LMS
easily. It has been found that designed software MIDAS will successfully allow learners and
staff to be able to book and reserve diverse library-related facilities and IT equipment as well.
On the other hand, library admin can also add and remove newly added IT equipment and
facilities now with the help of MIDAS to the existing system. It has been found that MIDAS
enables library admin to change the cost or rates of the products. The whole control of the
system will be in the hand of library admin whereas he or she will be able to operate the
whole LMS from anywhere online or offline. With the help of MIDAS software, library
admin or staff will be able to modify special conditions associated with each of the IT
equipment and library facilities. Based on this case study analysis, it can be said that the
system analyst of Systems Analysis and Design, has chosen the solution which best fits the
operational needs of the KOI.
