Narrative Essay: Life Changing Incident
This essay is based on, where an event of my life has changed me as a person. Based on, I
will reflect upon an incident of my life when I was studying in the third year of my
graduation and was preparing for the GRE examination as well. Since my childhood to the
third year of my graduation course, I was a clueless person who has no knowledge about
life’s vision and goals. Hence, I used to follow other people blindly without questioning.
Subsequently, one event of my life changed me as a person.
The incident happened during a cold December evening while I was having a walk in front of
my own house post having a heavy meal. All of the sudden, I heard a loud sound from the
nearby road. Immediately I ran towards the place from where this sound came and then I got
shocked after seeing that scene. There was a fast-moving or out of control bus that had
crashed with a taxi. The driver got squeezed in his seat as well as a passenger was thrown
away from the taxi due to the collision impact. After the accident, many people gathered
around the accidental spot but no one took any step and did anything for the driver or
passenger. I moved towards the taxi and asked a person to call ambulance immediately.
Meanwhile, I hurried to the taxi as well as had a faster look at the cab driver. The driver of
the cab was still breathing and was soaked throughout in blood. Hence, I called other people
for help so that driver could be taken to the hospital. Later on, we three people took him out
from the cab and took him to the nearby hospital in a vehicle. I was telling him there is
nothing to worry and everything would be fine soon. As soon as we reached to the hospital
we rushed towards the reception and asked the nurse to admit him but they denied to admit
him before completing each and every formalities related to fee submission, informed
consent and others. I requested them to admit him and treat him before asking and doing
anything else. They denied as they had protocols which were needed to be followed. In next
few seconds, he fell unconscious and he was not breathing as he was dead.
This was my first time when I had seen death from this closely as I felt the emotional pain of
his family and friends. At that time, I believed that life is so unpredicted and we all human
beings are strongly connected as we all are a part of holy human thread. Thus, that moment of
my life taught me the real value of life. I completely changed as a person, stopped my GRE
preparation as well as began preparation of entrance of Teaching Scholars Programme in
Singapore for serving our society. The event has changed my life to a large extent as I also

donate blood frequently, carry a strong wish to become an educator, visit an orphanage as
well as try to teach and helps as many people as I can. In this way, my inspiration of
becoming a teacher comes from that incident of my life which taught me a lesson to spread
knowledge and values of life among all with the help of the profession of an educator.
