Life course approach in health, social care and ageing refers to the emphasis on all the

experiences across the generations that present the different ideas as per the current positions

the current and past experiences that helps in shaping the wide area of social, economic and the

approach is to determine the behavioral and the psychological processes that will present in the
whole life span of the human being. This report is based on the representation and the

Eastern /Asia and western/Europe culture and history - To understand and gaining
more knowledge regarding the representation and experience of the old ageing that is differ from
culture and the history this point is very effective that shows the difference and comparison
between the two cultures that is western i.e. European culture and the Asian i.e. eastern culture.
In this the Asian culture is totally influence by the Confucius values and beliefs that mainly
consists of the Chinese culture and this included the term that enhances the image of the Asian
culture because they focus on the virtue that respects the parents, elders and the ancestors. The
related term for the filial party is love affection, respect to the elder ones and the obedient nature
towards the other person even if they were strangers. It demonstrates the major part of the Asian
culture and shows in a positive way for the aging people and contains the high esteem for those.
Therefore, on the other hand western culture is totally different from the Asian culture as they
mainly focus on the young people and they are not connected with the ageing people as much.
They prefer to isolate from the natural environment and stay lonely and as a nuclear family. They
showcase the negative vibes for the aging people and even for the elder one also. As per the past
decade report it is shown and examine that Asian people arte3 more attracted towards the ageing
people as they respect and obey them. There society provide the full support to the ageing people
which is very attractive as a listening and seeing by other culture but at the same time some
culture says negative towards it they prefer the European culture that means they youth oriented
and mainly supports to the youth people instead of old people(Svensson and et. al., 2015).

It contains the difference between the culture of United Kingdom and the Taiwan in this

the values, beliefs, customs and behavior related to that in which they develop the society and
economic without having the ageing people in their life. That should show the bad attitude
towards the old age people. They think they waste their time when they with the old people and

Asian culture is follows this is also called Eastern culture in this society is more conscious about
the ageing people and they care more for them. They feel good to spend time with the old people
in this family and also with elder ones. That will consider the positive attitude towards the
society and culture. Here individual values, belief, behavior is more indulge in securing the
health of the old people. In today’s world both the culture are included and followed in the
universe according to the demand of the society and they countries culture and economic
condition. This shows the western culture is denoted to the youth oriented culture whereas Asian
culture is denoted as a collective nature. Which is very effective and attractive because it shows
the positive human values(Suzman and et. al., 2015).
Challenges facing in an ageing society
Ageing people in the society create a great challenge for the society, culture and the
whole economic of the country. People of society are rapidly aging and it is the biggest
implication on the economic and the social factors in all over the universe. Due to enhancing the
population of the aged people in the society is the biggest issue for the productivity, it also
decrease the working age of the people and also increments in the cost related to the health care
and unsustainable commitments to the pensions increases. There are various problem s and the
challenges related to the old age that can be encountered below(Staff and et. al., 2016).
Increase in the cost of the healthcare and checkups – The biggest challenge that is
faced by an individual family and a person regarding the old age people in the society is that it
enhances the health checkup cost that is much more important to spending the amount on their
health in the society. It will affect the GDP of the country on the same time it will also affect the
person’s income because they spend more money on their health checkups. Having the large
number of the old people decrease in the employment rate because they are not able to work
properly and they cannot have much skills and capability to work in the organisation and give the

effective results to the company. Because of large number of old age people or ageing people it
is very important to invest more in the health care system if it is not strong it cannot care the
ageing people properly and it is also helpful in preventing the critical health issues that may
contain according to the growing age of the person.
Enhancing the dependency ration- It is also the main challenge that is face in the
ageing people society is that high dependency ratio. Here people are more dependent on their
close family members and they live on their fixed income that is served by the government of the
country as the pension. Due to this it will create pressure on the economic of the country as they
spend more amounts on the pension that helps in their sustainability and at the same time they
manage and maintain all the health related issues and for this they may contribute to that. In this
government spend amount by collecting the funds from the taxes that was pay by the public. On
the government side ageing people are dependent upon the pension amount for their further life
and for the family point of view they totally depend on their family members for their further
life(Bousquet and et. al., 2015).
Care and brain health coordination - It is another challenge that is facing in the ageing
people society is that disease related to brain and the other major areas. Old people are mainly
come in the critical health disease like Alzheimer, Dementia etc. that place an major impact on
their body and health. After the age of 80 the chances of having this type of disease is so high
and at this time it is very critical to handle them. In this family spend more money on their
recovery. Due to this people spend more on the health insurance to mange these
conditions(Kendig and et. al., 2016).
Decrease in productivity and also decline the population age of working - It is the
major issue and problem that is facing by the society that follows and respect the ageing people
culture. In this due to increasing number of the old age people the working population is declined
and due to this the profit earning is also reduce and it cause and effect the income of the person
in an negative way. Because of this company facing the problem of not getting the capable labor
that works as a productive man and complete the task in an innovative way. Increasing the
number of aged people in the society decreased the workforce in the industry and increases the
wages of the person because of shortage in getting the appropriate candidate(Walker, 2018).
