1. SMART goal setting is a process of structuring and tracking goals and objectives. SMART is the
acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timeline (Mann, De Ridder& Fujita, 2013).
Specific means the goal that an individual wants to attain should be specific and clear. Measurable
signifies the amount of work to be done to achieve the goals. Achievable means the process of
accomplishing the goal. Relevant goalis required to understand whether the time is right or whether the
individual has the ability to reach the goal. Timeline explains the amount of time needed to achieve the
goals.
Maintaining a cheerful life and motivating others to be happy is the one goal that I want to
achieve. In today’s competitive environment being happy and enjoying a stress-less life is very difficult.
SMART goal setting technique defines:
Specific: The goal is to be happy and cheerful. This will help me to motivate others to come out from the
stress free life and become more cheerful. Being cheerful and hopeful towards life will need a huge effort
as the job pressure is increasing day by day. With growing competition, being cheerful always seems to
be impossible (Quick et al., 2013). However, with the help of proper meditation and other activities like
yoga will help me to develop a positive attitude towards life.
Measureable:The goal is to motivate at least a dozen of individuals to be stress-free that will also reduce
many health issues, which is caused by excessive stress.
Achievable:The goal is very much achievable by understanding the root cause of stress and taking
necessary steps to reduce the stress. The simple way to achieve the goals is to surround youwith lots of
positive and happy people, helping others will help in crating positive vibes and will give a mind
satisfaction to an individual. Understanding the responsibility and taking control over them will reduce
conflicts and will help to become more successful and happy.
Relevant:This goal matters a lot to me, as it will not only help me in leading a cheerful life but it will also
help in increasing the productivity. A healthy and positive state of mind is a key factor in workplace. By
being happy and stress-free, I can motivate others as well which will help them to lead a positive life and
will decrease their health issues.
Timeline: To carry out the goals I will at least need three months. Meditation for at least three months
will help to gain a positive mindset and live a happy and cheerful life.

2. Action plan:
3. People nowadays want success so they are dumping their happiness and running behind the stress-full
and chaotic life of corporate world. Earlier people used to be live for 80-90 years on average now the
number came down to 70-80 years on average (Lawrence, Hancock &Kisely, 2013). The main cause of
the reduced life expectancy is the health issues caused bystress and tension. I am new to the corporate
world and I can understand the work pressure is increasing day by day and as a result a negative and a
stressful life is taking control over the happiness. To reduce the stress-full life I need to concentrate more
on the positive things around me. I have to understand that failure is a part of life and we should accept it
and move on (Mandelbrot, 2013). In the busy and tight schedule,some activities can help me in
developing a positive state of mind, which will lead to a happy and cheerful life. Self-meditation is one of
the best solutions to increase concentration and reducing the stress (Saatcioglu, 2013). Yoga is a spiritual,
mental and physical practice, which helps in maintaining a positive health and mind. Yoga helps to take
responsibilities and increase concentrate on something. I have planned to join Yoga classes that will help

me in increasing the production as well. Walking, cycling and jogging will keep me fit and reduce health
issues and will reduce the stress issues. Visiting orphanage or meeting new people will help me to explore
new things about life. By being happy and cheerful, it will help me to understand other’s problem as well
and I will be able to motivate them. Leading a cheerful and hopeful life always adds to the credibility of
an individual and I want to achieve this goal as soon as I can (Mann, Rider & Fujita, 2013).
