Environmental management is the management of the ecology. It helps in the analysis
of global issues encouraging various ways for reducing the problems. It deals with the ways
in resolving the environmental issues as well as helps in the prevention of the ecological
disaster. Environmental management takes care of the land, air, and water. It helps in the
preserving of natural resources (Silva et al. 2017). Australia is one of the highest producing
countries in the world that has been producing wheat, wool and various other crops including
rice, sugar, oilseeds, and grains. Australia provides a large share of Australia's exports.
Around 350,000 jobs in the years 2010 and 2011 were based on agriculture. There is a great
impact on the environment in agriculture. Farming practice has an impact on the ecosystem.
It affects the variety of production and system of farming (Waters 2013). The paper is on the
limitations in Australian agriculture. The paper is based on is there any limitation that the
farmers are facing in Australia and how it can be solved.
Environment management system targets in the improving of the environmental condition
without hampering the market sale and the economy of the country. Its main motive is to
improve the quality of the food ensuring health to the environmental components and saving
the natural resources. The environment management system has been designed for the
management of the business and to ameliorate environmental risks associated with the
product. It helps in biodiversity and encourages habitats and sustainable agriculture. It
promotes education and different types of agricultural practices to the farmers ensuring
higher production along with sustainable agriculture in order to save the environment from
degrading (Daddi, Testa, Frey and Iraldo 2016). Environmental system has several limitations
and it has been imposing its limitations in the agriculture. However, environmental system
ensures that there is no loss or lack in the economy of the private or public sectors. Hence, the
environmental system provides different techniques and ways of agriculture for improving
the quality of the product as well as the condition of the environment.

Australian agriculture has been producing various products and crops that have been
increasing in the economy of the country enhancing agricultural growth. Australia is famous
for producing wheat, wool, and beef (Cary and Roberts 2011). The major Australian
commercial crops are broadacre grains, legumes, and oilseed. Other intensive crops include
rice, sugar, cotton, grapes, potatoes, and bananas. Beef, wool, and dairy products are the
major livestock including sheep, poultry meats and pig. Around 350,000 employees in
Australia are associated with agriculture. It has significant input in various industries,
especially in food industries. This had a turnover of $65 billion and an added value of $ 24
billion in the year 2010-2011. The comparative advantage of Australia in the production of
agriculture is quite strong. This has been possible is Australia due to its high size, geography,
and innovation in technology and an increase in workforce skills (Sonesson et al. 2017). In
Australia, agriculture is the most productive and competitive sector that has helped in the rise
in the economy of the country. The increase in the population of Australia leads to an
increase in the

Modern agriculture excessively uses natural resources hampering the land, air, and water in
order to meet the demands of the people. Modern agriculture helps in the decrease in the
price of the food with an increase in the supply of food (Lewandowska 2011). Modern
agriculture, on the other hand, promotes the use of hybrid seeds, which increases the use of
water, fertilizers and other chemicals that have an impact on the environment degrading the
condition of the groundwater.
The effect of different farming practices has a different impact on the environment. There
are two types of environmental impact: means-based and effect-based. The means-based is
the farming production method whereas the effect-based is the impact that farming has on the
farming system or is emitted to the environment. There are positives as well as negatives

impacts on the environment. The following are the negative impacts on the environment.
Firstly deforestation, the increase in the population has increased in the demand of the food,
which leads to cutting down of forest for agricultural purposes. These lead to a decrease in
the number of trees and several animals and insects are getting extinct. Due to deforestation,
therein reducing in the annual rainfall leading to a decrease in the water level (Collins et al.,
2017). Often framers move from one place to another in a forest due to loss of fertility of the
soil, this leads to cutting down more trees. Increase in the use of pesticides and chemicals
leads to pollution of the underground water with which the chemicals intrude to the human
and animals leading to various diseases. This is caused due to the pollution. Irrigation is one
of the major problems of agriculture. The depletion of the aquifers with over drafting is one
of the major problems of irrigation. Due to irrigation, great soil erosion takes place. It
depletes the condition of the soil. Agriculture leads to soil degradation. Excessive use of the
land for agriculture for a long period leads to erosion of the soil decreasing the fertility of the
soil, which leads to moving from one place to another for the purpose of agriculture. There
has been observed various changes in the climate due to agricultural activities. Agriculture
has produced several greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane
affecting the balance in the environment. Moreover, the practice of tillage, pesticides, and
fertilizers also affected the environment by releasing excessive ammonia, phosphorus, nitrate
and other gases that affect the climate. The use of plastic mulch in agriculture is known as
plasticulture (El Hanandeh, 2015). The use of plastic in order to cover the soil and protecting
it from dripping is practiced by the farmers that lead to an increase in the waste in the soil.
Cary and Roberts (2011), argued in their paper that there may be various toxic elements that
has been degrading the condition of the environment yet there has also been various ways of
managing these issues.

environment. There are several benefits of organic agriculture on the environment; the
following are some of the benefits of organic agriculture, for sustainability over the long
term, producing organic food helps in the development of natural resources. The use of
fertilizers and chemicals is limited in organic agriculture increasing sustainability. Decrease
in the chemicals will decrease in the penetration of chemicals in the underground water,
improving the condition of the water (Leung and Yang 2012). This stops the contamination
of ground water. The use of fewer fertilizers and organic ways of agriculture improves the
condition of the soil. This helps in the saving of the soil. The use of natural seeds and
manures help in the increase in biodiversity.
Agriculture has a diverse effect on the natural resources; sustainability of agriculture
helps in the increase of the fertility of the soil and increase the natural resources. Practicing
sustainable agriculture helps in the increase in the protection of the environment. It increases
the income of framers, promotes environmental stewardship, increases the production of food
and enhances the quality of the life of the farmers increase their profit. The following are
some of the importance of sustainable agriculture, in order to meet the need of the people,
sustainable agriculture help in the increase in the production of the food, fiber, fuel, and feed.
Sustainable of the economic viability of the agricultural system. Sustainable agriculture helps
in the protection of the environment and expansion of the natural resources supply. It helps in
the protection of the soil. It promotes organic farming enabling the increase in the quality of
the food. Sustainable agriculture promotes educating the farmers to provide more production
with minimum use of chemicals (Zhang et al. 2014). It improves the quality of the surface as
well as the groundwater. It addresses the threats that are caused due to pests and diseases.
Australia should introduce different laws for practicing agriculture. There are various
laws which has been effecting the environment directly or indirectly hence, to stop those laws

and educating the farmers to promote sustainability of agriculture.
Agriculture is one of the major occupations in Australia and has been a great reason
for the increase in the economy of the country. However, various factors that affect the
environment. The use of excessive water and natural resources leads to the depletion of the
natural resources affecting the balance of the ecosystem. The use of fertilizers and chemicals
in agriculture leads to problems like an increase in the pollutants of groundwater. There are
other factors as well that leads to the imbalance in the environment. The environmental
system is the way of conserving the environment along with an increase in the production of
food to meet the demands of the customers. There are various effects of agriculture on the
environment such as the depletion of the groundwater, pollution of the groundwater, soil
erosion, deforestation and depletion in the condition of the products. Thus, sustainable
agriculture is the way of protecting the environment by an increase in the economic condition
of the framers increasing the production.
