RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology is that part in which there is discussion about different processes
and techniques for conducting survey. Research is time taking process because there are different
tasks including introduction, setting aims and objectives, literature review, approval of proposal,
etc. So this is conducted with proper techniques (Alvesson and Sveningsson, 2015). This section
provides complete information about different techniques used while conducting this
investigation and reason behind it. In order to understand research methodology “Research
Onion” framework is used which is discussed as under-
Research philosophy: It is a assumption which are considered while performing research
activities. There are 3 types of research philosophy i.e. interpretivist, pragmatist, and positivist.
In this investigation, interpretivist research philosophy is used because this focus on major
requirement while conducting investigation or which have impact over research outcome.
Research Approach: Research approach includes plans and procedure which are used to
conduct investigation. There are 2 types of research approach i.e. inductive and deductive. In this
investigation, inductive is used because this suits best with qualitative research method. Apart
from this, in inductive research approach more focus is on broad concept of corporate structure.
So all the aspects are covered properly (Boutilier, 2017).
Time Horizon: There is requirement of some time for conducting different research
activities such as introduction, literature review, etc. and get proper outcome of investigation as
recommendations and conclusion. There are two types of tome horizon i.e. longitudinal and cross
sectional. Cross- sectional time horizon is considered to be best for this research because under
this time is pre- determined for all the activities, so research proposal and project will completed
within specified time.
Research design: There is specific design in which investigation is done to communicate
proper outcome to reader. Research design can be classified into three categories i.e. descriptive,
experimental and exploratory. Design of this investigation will be descriptive which is relevant
as per investigator point of view as it ensures adequate information about techniques,
assumptions, etc. considered while conducting this study (Carayannis, Sindakis and Walter,
2015).
Research methods: There are specific methods in which investigation will be done i.e.
qualitative and quantitative investigation. In this study qualitative methodology is used. This is
13
Document Page
the method in which information is presented in pictorial and graphical manner. This assist
reader to understand about different human behaviour about corporate structure of MNC while
working at international level. Qualitative research provides reason behind specific view. So this
is most appropriate method to conduct investigation.
Sources of data: In order to make investigation relevant and specific, information is
collected through two methods: primary and secondary (Brondoni, 2014). In this investigation
both the methods are used. Primary source of information is collected through one to one basis
by researcher through personal interview, focus group, questionnaire, etc. This is the best way
because this provides complete and relevant information. While secondary information is
collected from information which is already collected by others. Investigator collect this
information through online sources, magazine, newspaper, etc. There are possibilities that this
information is unclear, so in order to avoid such complications authentic and date sources are
used. With the help of primary and secondary information research can be made authentic and
relevant for future use or study.
Sampling: Sampling is the method under which some individuals are selected for taking
their views for collecting primary information. Sampling is important because it is not possible
for researcher to collect views from all the population (Zhang, Fung and Changhong, 2017).
Sampling can be carry out through two ways i.e. probability and non probability sampling. In
this project, simple random of non probable sampling method is used. This method is best
respondents are selected randomly so fresh and relevant information can be collected. This
makes investigation ethical because there is no possibilities of biasness. 50 employees at LINDT
CHOCOLATE are selected for collecting primary information through questionnaire.
Research ethics- There are three aspects which has to considered while conducting as
ethical consideration while conducting investigation i.e. informed consent, confidentiality,
anonymity. While collecting primary information respondents have complete knowledge about
conducting investigation, reason behind it, so informed consent is taken. Details of the
respondents is not disclosed in investigation, so anonymity is maintained. Research outcome are
shared with parties who have keen interest in it, hence confidentiality is considered under it
(Child, 2015).
14
Document Page
Research limitation- While researching, time limitation was constraint because
researcher is not able to collect primary data within specified time. There are some respondents
does not revert back of questionnaire or some individuals skipped some questions.
Research reliability and validity- From this investigation, information is collected from
online sources having authors to make it relevant and primary information is collected from
workforce of LINDT CHOCOLATE who have complete information about corporate structure
and challenges faced by managers while operating at international level. So this investigation is
reliable and valid for future use. As all the ethical consideration for covered, so it can be used as
base for future study (Sidani and Al Ariss, 2014).

magazine, internet connection, telephone services, etc. through which investigation can be done
in appropriate and relevant manner. So there is requirement of budget £550.

REFLECTION AND RECOMMENDATION FOR ALTERNATIVE
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Reflection
I am glad that I got an opportunity to perform investigation over such an interesting topic
that support me in enhancing my knowledge toward the corporate structure of multinational
organisation and manner in which it contribute toward the success of a company. Apart from this
I would also become aware about the number of issues that an organisation have to face in term
of corporate structure at international level. Throughout the investigation I go through several
challenges such as time provided for investigation is very limited and respondents are also not
ready to respond effectively but despite of all this I tried my best to convince them for providing
correct information so that research can be performed in more authenticated manner. In addition
to this for dealing with issue related with lack of time I have used questionnaire to gather
information in less time. But instead of questionnaire, interview can be used as an alternative
method for gathering information which ensure larger amount of information by having a face to
face communication with respondent.
Alternative method:-
If same research is allotted to researcher, then they must prefer for utilising secondary
sources of an information as additional methodology. This is the suitable way for conducting
research over complex topic in order to get in- depth knowledge about it. This is an easiest way
to collect data because given primary data is highly time consuming and remains costly. Aim of
the additional methodology is led effective practices to enables firm to reach its desired goals
behind the research.

As per the above performed investigation over “The impact of globalisation on the
corporate structures of large multinational companies and the major challenges they face” it has

international market. These issues are required to be rectified in order to improve the
