INTRODUCTION
Study skills are an array of abilities which help individual to tackle procedure of
managing and taking in new data or retaining key information. The current assignment will
explain three listening challenges, and strategies that help to improve listening skills.
Furthermore, it will justify some heeding challenges and tactics that help to overcome each.
QUESTIONS
1- Discussing three of listening challenges
Difficulties in hearing due to technical terms-
Technical sentences or terms may create challenges for students to hear what their tutors
said during lecture. Due to this issue, individual learn may unable to understand information
given by the others (Harrison and Loring, 2020). Technical term may bring barrier to pronounce
a word and spell it in appropriate manner, which is really quite important to do. This problem
may affect further understanding of student related to any subject, which provide benefits to
them. Complex words use by anyone make challenging for other to comprehend. It affects
information sharing and receiving process in negative manner.
Long sequences with a number of items-
Another listening challenge that students may face is long sequence of words with
number of things, which create issue for them in term of listening the lecture and understand it
completely that is essential to comprehend, because it provide a lot of benefits in the future
(Karami and et.al., 2020). Some long sentences with varied clauses also create issue to listen
what information provided during module. Long sequence of sentences is quite different to hear,
which in return provide ineffective outcomes.
Unnecessary words-
Use of unessential word is considered as another factor that may create barriers in
listening. Unnecessary word put negative impact on process of individual hearing, especially
when they take initiative to listen important information about specific topic. By using these
words, data provider may create complications to those who hear what they said (Abid, 2020). It
is one of those challenges that may affect in the future and current practice of learner, in negative

manner. It is important for lecturer to use only essential word, which is easy to understand by the
other people around them.
2- Suggesting three tactics that teachers can utilize to help students to improve their listening
skills
There are varied forms of techniques, approaches and strategies available in the world
that has been utilized by many people just to improve their listening abilities in effective manner,
which is important to enhance by everyone. Here, teachers may utilize these that mention below-
Use simple word-
In term of strategy, a teacher may enhance listening ability of student by taking initiative
to use simple and easy words instead of using technical terms (Mustari and Rostina, 2020). It
enables them to give listener chance to comprehend easy sentence properly that may lead to
decrease risk of discoordination and miscommunication, which may affect negatively. By using
simple word, teacher may provide opportunity to student in the context of asking question that
assure them they comprehend each lecture and information provided in session.
Break long sequence-
Another strategy that a teacher may use like above, in order to improve the hearing skills
of each student is breaking long sequence sentences, which allow individual learner who develop
better understanding about overall discussion in class room base on particular subject (Robinson-
Kooi and Hammond, 2020). This tactic may work well in term of increasing or improving
capability of students to listen give valuable information by tutor. This skill is beneficial for them
in term of completing work on time when they perform as an employee.
Use meaningful word-
It is important for students to have good listening skill, for which teachers may take
initiative to do so in term of developing and using strategy such as usage of meaningful and
important words related to subject, which they teach during session. They may also ask questions
after each para from student that assure they listen appropriately and be active in class.

3-Describing some listening barriers that individual experienced and strategies that have
contributed to become a better listener
Without listening information given by the other person, it is impossible for individual to
perform their task in systematic manner and obtain desire outcomes. Due to key listening
challenge a student is unable to become a better listener. Below each challenge stated;
Visual challenge-
In term of listening challenge, it unable a student to understand what presented during
module via power point slides, which is not clear. Without hearing sounds properly and seeing
clearly, it is quite complicated for students of listen. Visual support is one of those elements that
affecting listening ability in negative manner.
Complex structures-
Another challenge related to listening activity that experience during study is current one,
which make a student unable to listen properly and understand each sentence appropriately.
Strategies-
 Teacher may use appropriate technology that provide clear sound and display each
sentence in comprehending manner, which make students a better listener.
 They may utilize simple convoluted structure which is important for everyone such as
teacher and students as well.
 Another tactic that apply in this situation is asking questions again and again by the
teachers to known that individual may improve listening capability.
 By paying attention during class session, students may be a good listener, which enable
them to achieve short or long term aims and also allow to obtain more benefits along with
current one.
 In term of varied ways, students may take many initiatives to become better listener while
conducting activity as learner or worker.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above discussion, it has been concluded that by applying effective and
appropriate strategies, students have overcome the key challenges and improved their listening

skills. By breaking the long sentences into small, teacher has successful enhanced listening skill
of each student.
