This report presents a case study analysis of two Year 1 students, Riley and Mia, and their reading development needs. The assignment explores the application of various teaching strategies, including synthetic phonics for phonological development and the whole language approach for fluency development. It examines the benefits of group-based learning experiences and the incorporation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance reading skills. The report compares and contrasts the selected teaching strategies, highlighting their advantages and limitations. It concludes with recommendations for fostering improved reading skills and competencies in early primary education, emphasizing the importance of tailored approaches based on individual student needs and learning styles.
