INTRODUCTION
Literature play a crucial role in developing the language skills in a child. Present report
describes about crucial role played by literature in developing the cognitive and learning skills of
the child. In addition to that recommendations have been mentioned about methods that could be
used for making the story telling session more interactive.
LITERATURE REVIEW
According to Hall, (2015) language ability in a child affects his learning level and
cognitive and linguistic skills of the child also gets affected due to it. Reading literature supports
for understanding and remembering new words and it helps for making significant improvements
in the existing language skills. Literature aids in enhancing the linguistic knowledge and

interaction are learn by the child. There are four method through which a child learns to study
and it includes talking, listening, writing and reading. Moreover, Hall, (2015) has mentioned that
analyzing the literature helps for developing the cognitive skills of the child. Along with this it
also helps for igniting the learner's passion and zeal to discover new facts, ideas and thoughts.
Fraley and Hudson, (2014) has described that proper balance needs to be developed
between the learning process of the child and engaging in literature. Miller, (2016) has
mentioned that if learner is provided with the opportunity to choose their own literature than
appreciation of learner towards reading the text increases. Learning of a range of curriculum
areas can be enhanced by selecting the best source of literature. In addition to that understanding

(2014) has described that reading literature helps for ensuring success in developing life long
English skills of the child.
It is essential that teacher who is providing knowledge to the students should be well
aware about the stories so that better learning can be provided to the students. If literature is
presented in well defined manner than it helps for increasing the vocabulary of child and it also
helps for developing language fluency in the child. Similarly, Bassnett, (2014) has defined that
literature can be presented in well defined and coherent manner so that interest of students can be
enhanced and it will help for making the students aware about the information that is being
presented to them. Along with this it is required that text should be selected as per the
requirement and preferences of child. There are many broad areas that are available in the
literature that could be used for developing the skills of child for future interactions.

has opened ways for introducing digital platform for children so that their cognitive and learning

language skills of the child. As per the viewpoints of Steiner, (2016) literature play a key role in
making positive improvements in the developing the language and literacy skills of the child.
PROFILE OF STUDENT
A child studying in Grade 2 has little knowledge of vocabulary and due to that difficulties
are faced by child in understanding the meaning of literature without taking any assistance. It is
required that simple texts should be used so that child should grasps the meaning of the words
and enhance the existing knowledge. A child studying in Lower standards has poor listening
skills, speaking skills and writing skills. It becomes difficult for child to understand complex and
difficult language that is being presented to them. Due to the poor abilities of child it has become
critical and complicated for the teacher to adopt innovative methods and techniques that could be
used for providing better learning to the child. Along with this

The book depicts about a story in which Fox have fun with his friend when his little sister
tags along with everywhere he goes. This book tells an interest story which defines about a
interesting story about how to make friends. In the story it has been described that Fox is a
Mischievous kid and he is asked to watch his sister but he ends up loosing her and due to that
troubles are faced by him. He buys an ice cream cone for her daughter and so that so will not tell
anybody else about it.
Fox gets in a lot of trouble for not following the instructions. He also fails in making right
choices and he faces lots of difficulties. Moreover, the book tells about adventures of fox and his
friends and his sister. Louise is sister of Fox and she always remains in tow with her brother
when he is not looking and suddenly Louise disappears and it creates matter of worry for the
Fox and series of stories related to adventures made by Fox, his friends and sisters have been
described in the book. The stories presented in book are vary easy to understand for the kids that
are studying in Kindergarten and for students that are in first and second grade. Fox fails in
finding friends around him because his sister is always around him. Moreover, the book is a
fantasy based story and makes the child understand importance of friendship in his life. Journey
of Fox in which he learns to become a responsible and caring person has been described and it
presents a enjoyable moment for a child to grasp meaning of story that has been presented in the
book.

PROCESS UNDERTAKEN
In the present assignment a step by step process has been followed and it supported in
completing the whole work in effective way. Initially literature review has been done in which
viewpoints of different writers have been mentioned. Importance of literature in developing
language skills of the child have been mentioned. It supported in evaluating the crucial role
played by literature in making significant development in the learning skills of the child. After
completion of literature review a profile of student that have been told the story has been
mentioned. Under which language ability level of child has been mentioned. Along with this
findings about how the activities have been performed have been explained. In the
recommendation section areas have been suggested under which improvements can be made.
Step by step process has been followed and assignment has been completed in organized manner.
It has supported in making the whole assignment in structure manner.
THE FINDINGS
In classroom session four different type of activities have been performed and it has
supported for providing better learning to the child. Initially role playing session has been
organized in which student is ask to play role of character that he or she likes the most. In the
next activity use of musical themes prepared for telling the story to the child and it helped for
enhancing the motivation level of child for reading the story.
Similarly, questioning session has been organized in the next activity in which different
questions have been asked from the child. It supported for identifying the learning of child in the
next sessions. Next activity was interaction session in which child was asked about other stories
that they would like to listen in the next session. Four different types of activity has been played
and it has supported for making the story telling session more interactive and attractive. Student
was encouraged to play role of Fox and this made the process of story telling more interactive.
Along with this musical themes have been used for telling the story and it made the procedure
more enjoying. With this questioning session was organized and child was encouraged for giving
answer to some small questions. Next and fourth activity was interaction session under which
child was asked about the next story that they would like to listen in the nest session.

A RECOMMENDATION
There are some intersecting activities that could be used by a teacher for providing
understanding to the child. It is essential that teaching of literature should be done in lucid and
organized way so that students should enjoy it. Below are some recommendations that could be
used by a teacher and these are as follows :-
Different styles of speaking can be used by storyteller and it will aid for making the session more
enjoying.
Group enactment of stories can be done and student can be asked to perform the characters that
have been told in the stories.
Storytelling can be accompanied by different activities such as illustration and singing and
moving stories can also be told to the child.
Involvement of audience can be taken in the storytelling process and student can be asked for
drawing pictures of their most favorable characters.
CONCLUSION
Summing up the present report it can be concluded that literature plays a significant role
in developing the language learning of a child. There are various methods such as role playing,
performing the character and group enactment of stories that can be performed for providing
better understanding to the child.
