Literature Review
Literature reviews or narrative review refers to a narrative article. It is a scholarly paper
which involves the present knowledge and includes substantive findings. A literature review
along with these aspects also includes methodological and theoretical contributions to a
particular topic. The reviews done in literature are based on the secondary sources instead the
primary ones and they do not report original or experimental work.
The literature reviews are a basis of research in nearly every academic field. A narrow
scope review of literature might be included as part of journal article presenting new research. It
is presented in order to serve and situate the current study within the body of relevant literature
and in order to provide a context to a reader. In such case, the review often precedes the result
sections and methodology of the work.
The main types of literature reviews include Narrative, systematic, argumentative and
integrative. The narrative literature review tends to critique the literature and summarizes the
body of the literature. It also draws conclusions about the topic and tends to identify the gaps and
inconsistencies in a body of knowledge.
The review which is termed as systematic requires more well-defined and rigorous
approach as compared to other types of reviews of literature. It is often divided into two
categories, meta-synthesis and meta-analysis (Crane, Matten and Spence, 2019).
The literature review which is argumentative examines literature selectively which
supports and refutes a philosophical problem, an argument and deeply embedded assumption that
is already established in the literature.
The integrative literature review synthesizes critiques and reviews secondary data in the
topic of research. It is done in an integrated way as such that new frameworks and perspectives

on the generated topics. In case, if the research does not involve the primary data collection, in
that case the usage of integrative literature review is the only options.
Literature Review on Corporate Social Responsibility
According to the views of Crowther and Seifi, (2018), CSR refers to a type of
international private business self-regulation model with is known to help a company, business
or an organization to be socially accountable to the public, itself and its overall stakeholders.
From the practice of corporate social responsibility the companies become aware of the kind of
impact which they are having on all aspects of the society including, environmental, social and
economical.
As per the views of Grayson and Hodges, (2017), the concept of CSR is broad which can
take a number of forms depending on the industry and the company. From the programs of CSR,
volunteer efforts and philanthropy businesses tend to benefit their society while boosting their
own brands. It helps the business to grow and reach their potential. Corporate social
responsibility is the main and important aspect for the organization and also for employee life
balance. That is help to manage the business process to produce an overall impact on the society.
That is covers sustainability, social impact and ethics and those are important for the business
and its success.
As per the view of Harjoto, Laksmana and Lee, (2015), corporate social responsibility is
continues process and commitment by business for behave ethically. It is contribute the
economic development for improving quality of employee life and their families as well as the
community. But Jamali and Karam, (2018), argue CSR is about the capacity building for
sustainable. That is respect to the cultural differences and also creates business opportunity in
building skills of employees.
According to Kang, Germann and Grewal, (2016), it is the integral part of the wealth
creation process managed properly and enhanced competitiveness of business or also help to
maximize value of wealth creation of effective society. But in the contras it is collective activity
of communities of human beings. But Petrenko, Aime, Ridge and Hill, (2016), said that a
concept of companies is decided to contribute better society and cleaners the environment. CSR
is when a company operates in an ethical ways with its environmental and social impacts. That is

As per the view of Schrempf-Stirling, Palazzo and Phillips, (2016), it is important for the
company to operate in a way that is demonstrating social responsibility. It is the social
responsibility and ethical practice because of customers are more aware with importance of its,
and its actively seeks products from the businesses that are operates ethically. But Unit, (2015),
argues said that it demonstrates the business that are take interest in social issues and it is impact
too business profit margin. That is also attracting customers and shares the same values. By this
have some benefits which are help to make an effort to adopt business.
According to Baik, (2016), CSR is beneficial for improved public image at marketplace
because customer’s takes assess with the public image of company and take decision for
purchase products from that. Public image is giving the positive impact on the customers and
profits margin. This help to increase profit of firm and also improve productivity of its. At the
other hand Crane, (2019) said that it help to increased brand awareness and recognition if
organization is connected with the ethical practices and this will spreads. Peoples are hear that
brand image is goods and purchase or attracted towards it. This help to increased brand
awareness.
As per the view of Crowther, (2018), that helps to boost employee engagement in the
business and within the organization. It is very important for the managing the sustainability of
the employees and its work. Employees are work with the company that have effective and
valuable brand image at marketplace. They are wanted company image is good at marketplace
because by this they are also feel they are working with reputed organization. This gives positive
impact on people and employees image. It is helped to attract more customers and employees
also. This help ton engaged more employees are together and also highly engaged.
But Grayson, (2017), argue that corporate social responsibility is help to attract and
retains investors are pouring money into the companies because they are want to know about
their funds and also money. This means that corporation plans or budget, but they also means
that they have strong sense of this corporate social responsibility. Companies are donating
money to the nonprofit organization and encourage their employees to volunteer their time. This
show has an interest in the local and global community. Investors are attracted by the valuable
and effective brand image of the company. Effective brand image is help to attracted and

At contradict Harjoto, (2015) says this increase customers engagement towards the
companies and organization. Companies are use sustainability system and also social media. By
this customers are aware with the brand and its products. Social media are give the positive and
effective knowledge to the peoples and customers. By this customers have the information and
also update with any new product lunched at marketplace by the organization. At that customers
are attracted for purchase this and take view product. With the help of this customers are
engaged with the brand image and also help to increase it at marketplace.
According to Jamali, (2018), corporate social responsibility is more beneficial for the
employees. Employees are at the company if manager and any other embrace CSR then it give
negative impact on employees. But manager are feel respected at the workplace then it will give
the positive impact on the employees and its behavior. By this organization workplace is positive
and productive place for the work. That is help to encourage personal and professional growth of
peoples. That is help tom promoting business and its image at marketplace. But Kang, (2016),
says that by this has advantage to their competitors.
At that companies are not follows the corporate social responsibility then their
competitors are take advantage of this by using their employees or attract them. This is not goods
for the company and its growth also. That is give negative impact on our company. By this
competitors are take advantage and also this creates opportunity for competitors. Corporate
social responsibility has the advantage and disadvantage to the company. Those are discussed by
the various people. As per the view of Petrenko, (2016), this has responsible company is
marketable and attractive to the customers and buyer.
This is the advantage by the CSR at the place and in the contras Schrempf-Stirling,
(2016), say they have disadvantage is the greater in the manufacture of product have needs to be
replaced are at the marketplace. But Farber, (2016), argues that it is positive publicity for the
positive behavior. That is simply means that the it have positive image at marketplace and that
customers are also behave positive in the right and positive manner. By the CSR has the increase
in cost and also decrease in contribution of the products. This is the disadvantage of corporate
social responsibility. That is give negative impact on the peoples and customers as well.
As per the view of Matten, (2019), say by this have advantage is companies are less
likely and single faced action from the pressures group of peoples and customers. Customers are
wants high quality of product and services because they are pays for that. They are pay for the

best and better result of services which is provided by the company and organization. But against
of Seifi, (2018), product make without renewable sources, at that product is may be produce in
negative ways or it will give the negative impact on the brand image of product and its services.
It retention of current employees is more likely if companies are treat them well and
effective. Like companies manager are treat their employees very potentially and give respect to
them. In case of this it is give positive impact on customers and employees. By this employees
are also attract towards the company and give their hard contribution to achieve goals and
objectives. According to the Hodges, (2017), this policy is improved company profitability and
values. They say, it is also help to increase company’s accountability and transparency with the
investment analysis and also to media, shareholder and local communities. This turn into
enhance reputation and goodwill among the investors as well.
As per the view of Laksmana, (2015), this creates the better relations with customers.
Most of the customers are attracted by the effective and valuable brand image. At that, manager
of companies have to make effective brand image by provide best product and services. In
contras Karam, (2018), says the costs money to implement. This is the main disadvantage of
CSR costs are fall on small businesses. It takes time to analysis monitor exchanges and involves
hiring extra personal that business cab be affordable. This creates the conflicts for the profit
motives and obstacle. Some and fewer critics are believed that it is the exercise. Manager have
duty to respect to their employees towards the achieve goals and objectives.
CONCLUSION
From the above study it had been concluded that the literature review has important for
gaining extra knowledge and information for the particular topic. By that marketer has got the
each and every knowledge which has important for work and information. That has various types
for the getting knowledge and information required for the business and companies. Corporate
social responsibility has important and beneficial for the company. That has beneficial for the
customer engagement and also for improve the profit and productivity of the business and
