Nursing system in schools
Schools in general are considered a very important key in order to promote good
habits and healthy lifestyle. In order to assist the students to follow the same, schools have to
provide basic healthcare facilities. In fact, the nurses employed by the school need not be just
basic nurses but doctor as well needs to be there in order to diagnose the situation in a better
manner. Although, the schools in the nearby districts have made a pact to employ a nurse in
order to make sure that the students are provided emergency care at least.
Apart from a nurse that provides initial assistance, a facility of a counsellor is also
provided by certain colleges to ensure the mental health of students facing stress or are in
some or the other manner seem traumatized or upset are provided help straight away. In
scenarios that are much critical, the school tends to address the child with a basic
phenomenon and in order to resolve a serious issue, hospital or other specialized medical
staff is involved (Chidiac, et al., 2017). The schools in the neighbourhood have made sure
that preventive as well as practical aspects need to be considered and steps in accordance
with the same need to be taken. Sudden issues like awareness related to HIV and other
sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy also are covered by these nurses. Talking about
issues like sex and precaution and educating children about the same is also covered in this
criterion. Apart from this, local flu, cold and fever or aches or even injuries or any such minor
issues are all treated by the local health care expert in the school (Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, 2013).
These nurses are quite efficient in their work which is the reason why they are
appointed by schools to treat children. In some schools, the nurse plays both the roles of
being a nurse as well as a counsellor and students are encouraged to talk to them in order to
resolve internal issues by the manner of therapy (US News, 2019). Without fail, healthy

lifestyle is promoted as food provided to students in the cafeteria is healthy, time to time
being in touch with students and tracking their progress and behaviour, meeting parents or
contacting them if something concerning comes up and promoting physical activities such as
soccer, swimming, dance or any such thing and inculcating them in day to day life of the
students. Though these students are able to figure out what they like as well as maintain a
healthy lifestyle (Clark, 2013).
