AI Summary
This essay examines the transformation of Locke High School in Los Angeles following its takeover by the Green Dot Initiative. Prior to the takeover, the school was plagued by issues such as riots, gambling, drug use, and general indiscipline, largely due to its location in an area characterized by drugs and gangs, as well as the prevalence of single-parent households among students. These factors contributed to poor academic performance and high staff turnover. The Green Dot Initiative implemented several measures to address these issues, including placing the school board on a payroll, allowing students from juvenile facilities to return, and focusing on academic excellence. While some doubted the effectiveness of these changes, the initiative ultimately led to improved student grades, reduced dropout rates, and increased staff involvement. The essay concludes that the Green Dot Initiative had a positive effect on restoring normalcy and harmony to Locke High School.

school was run in order so as to produce positive results that had been earlier not seen. They took
several measures WHICH included putting the school board on a payroll so as to ensure
effective management of the school to a specified requirements .
Green Dot had to do longer calculation that would help in achieving a positive success to the
school. It came up with several strategies some included allowing students from different
juvenile facilities to return to the school and offering good guidance to them so as they may

academic excellence of the school was brought back.
Majority of the people were still in doubt if the change would bring a positive value to the school
or it would end up adding more damage to the status that had already deteriorated. They argued
that because the policies that Green Dot used to hire young and unexperienced principals at will
with added authority of hiring and firing withought finding them any new job for them was a
major factor. But on the better hand, Locke was to benefit from extra funding from the state
which would facilitate its makeover and regain its dignity and trust among people.
