INTRODUCTION
Reflection is the essay that determine writer experience during a particular time. Through
reflection, writer can writes the about own experience and also exploring how they change or
develop these experience. In the same way, report is all about to write the reflection on Project/
Placement Design and Implementation (PPDI) that build the portfolio of the evidence by using
different methodologies. The report is all about the reflection and by using different models,
writer can easily share their own experience in better way.
The report will present the reflection that is based upon the first week of PPDI which is
based upon the critical incident so that the writer can gain the knowledge and also reflect their
experience through PPDI. Further, report will describe the experience of whole week of PPDI
and through this, they will share the knowledge gain during the project by using reflective
model. Lastly report will develop the career and personal development plan by which an
individual can reflect upon their own learning, performance and achievement in order to plan
their personal and career development. This also includes SMART objectives that helps to
conduct the personal development plan in better way.
TASK 1
a) Reflection on the particular week's event
In order to present the reflection, Gibbs model is used that helps individual to think in
systematic manner about their own experience which are used to describe the specific situation,
event or an activity. The model is consider one of the best tool to reflect own experience because
generally it is hard to reflect the same and it is not easy for an individual to consciously think
about how the things could be do better in next time (Barksby, Butcher and Whysall, 2015). That
is why, at that time, individual uses Gibbs model to reflect the though and experience in better
and systematic manner. In order to describe my own experience of PPDI , I choose first week of
PPDI and The model is based upon the reflective cycle that helps to share my experience in
better way, which is as mention below:
Description: The PPDI project is my first project and we were working in a team of 4,
and we all are so nervous because none of us know what to do in the project. This week among
all 10 week is critical because we all have to understand the typical term and the way of doing
the project. That is why we all were excited as well as nervous. Moreover, the week first of the
PPDI project is completely based upon the induction in which we learn the role of work related

learning and also learn the overview of FT Portfolio Simulation in which we had to buy and sell
the share of 5 to 6 oil companies such that CNOOC Ltd, Marathon Oil Corporation, NuStar
Energy LP, Valero Energy Corporation, Murphy Oil Corporation, Exxon Mobil Corporation.
Though my overall experience of this project is quite good because I learn different
things as well as develop the skills which help me in my future as well. Apart from this, our
group have intelligent people and this will help to complete the project successfully. Initially we
all did not know each other but we were is a team so we assign the roles and responsibility as per
our speciality. So that the work will completed in perfect manner without any hindrance. In
addition to this, this PPDI project is helpful to enhance the knowledge which will be helpful in
future.
Feeling: initially, I feel so excited as well as nervous because PPDI is my first project
and even our team takes time to meet the requirement as well. My experience to lead the entire
team is quite good because this helps me to develop some leadership skills and also completed
the work on time. Very first day of out team meeting, my teammates easily said about their
strength an weaknesses which help us to assign the roles and responsibility in better way. Such
that in our first week of PPDI project, there is a taught session in which the teacher describe the
role of work based learning, professional skill, PBL and Critical reflection (EVRE) so that it will
help to proceed further.
As per me, I taught that the learning from this week is so difficult for me because these
things are completely new. But at that time, my teammates encourage me or motivates. At that
time I feel quite confident because of having better team who always support to complete the
project in better way. Thus, we set goals in order to complete our day to day activities and also
learn new terms from each other. During our session, I feel so excited and happy because after
completing lecture we have to prepare the assignment in a group of individual learning contract
and problem solving, decision-making interaction with FT portfolio simulation, in which we
learn new skills and realized the importance of working in a team is more better rather than
individual because of sharing our views and gain knowledge as well.
Evaluation: Initially I evaluate that this week is quite challenging for me but when I start
working in a group I realized that every big issue can be sorted by taking other views and my
team mates are always ready to encourage each other. This help me to complete the work in
better manner and generate best results as well. During the project, out team working is the best

experience I ever felt because we all work in a tea and whenever we find any difficulty everyone
supports and provide better solution as well so that we complete the defined work on time. Apart
from this, in the first week of PPDI, I was so confused because I am not able to understand the
things in better way but at that time my team mates support me and describe every term
practically so that it will be easy for us to complete the work on time (Whitehead, 2019).
On the other side, I also evaluated some bad experience that is we all did not meet on
time that is why we present our work individually. We are have good presentation skills that
helps to present the entire work in better way and also we all put our best efforts in order to
complete the project in better manner. Such that, as we assign the roles as per their speciality
like, one of the team member have strong communication. Thus, his responsibility is to buy and
sell the share from different oil company at defined rates because of having good negotiating
skills. Overall, I also evaluated that working in a group is more beneficial for attaining the
defined goals in better way.
Analysis: during the entire situation, I analyses that the first week of the PPDI project is
quite interesting for our team because we face different or adverse situation but because of
having strong team bonding and collaboration we also overcome from this. Such that one of the
member facing problem with describing the work based learning and at that time, we all helped
him to understand the concept in better way. I also analysed that working together Is better way
to complete the work by using other views and opinions as well, the same is also analysed by
other team members. Furthermore, at the time of making assignment, I also analysed that
effective collaboration between our team members also plays an effective role, as we were
working in a group therefore, it is essential to verify the work and make proper coordination in
order to complete the entire task in better way.
While working on this specific PPDI project, I analyses that I increases my team working
and communication skill, tough during our first meeting, we did not know each other but as we
have to work in a team, therefore, it requires proper team working abilities and in order to
manage the team we also use Belbin team role and then specify the work responsibility
accordingly (Palmeri and Dubisar, 2019). I also learn different things and enhances my
interpersonal skills which help me to attain the aim in better way.
Conclusion: during our journey of first week of PPDI project, I concluded that if I work
individually then it will not be easy for completing the task but as we work in a team of four and

we all completed the defined task with own speciality and this effective coordination nd
collaboration helps to attain the defined work in specified time. Therefore, it shows that my
overall experience during the first week is so excited and even I learn many new things during
the class as well, but I also concluded that there is no proper supervision for this week and that is
why I feel so frustrated. But at time, my team member supports me and encourage to perform the
task in better way. In addition to this, I also concluded that I develop team working abilities
which needs to be further developed more and I have strong presentation skill that helps me to
prepare the entire work in more better way. While on the other side, my oral presentation is not
as effective that is why I usually write notes for presenting the entire work.
During the journey, I concluded that my team put their best efforts in order to present the
work in better way and this is possible due to having strong collaboration and communication. In
order to conduct the research in more better way, I start developing my weaknesses so that it will
be beneficial for me to perform better in the teamwork.
Action plan: during the entire journey, I realize that there is a need to improve some
skills so that it will be beneficial for my future project in professional as well as personal way.
That is why in order to improve those skills, I develop action plan with the specified time period
by developing short and long term goals (Kelton, 2019). On the other side, I also start making
proper scheduling when the team work will be start so that I will be more confident in my work.
Thus, the action plan is consider one of the most effective approach that make proper schedule to
discourage me from avoiding promises. In addition to this, I should also develop my assertive
skills when I am working with colleagues and this is so because to make sure that the work is
maintained properly.
b) Reflection on final report
In order to express own experience, it is quite essential to use effective model that clearly
describe thought and experience in better way. Further, to elaborate or describe the entire
situation, Gibbs model is used such that by using the cycle in systematic manner, and reflection
on those experience should be structured in phases (Martin, 2016). This makes people to think
about an experience or an activity in more detail manner, by making them aware with their own
action and can be adjust or change their behaviour as well. Thus, this also determine the positive
and negative impact of event and identify the learning from that event as well. Therefore, from

the PPDI, I also learn different things and faces adverse situation as well which are describe in
the form of a cycle, that are as mentioned below:
Description: while working for PPDI project, initially I was so nervous and it is one of
the best project ever work on. It is so because of our team, we were working with a group of four
and they all have string knowledge and effective working skills that helps us to completed the
project in better way. The project is run for 10 weeks, though my first week o learning was quite
difficult but with the support from my teamwork, I make the work easy and learn different new
concept and things which will help me in my future (Li and et.al., 2019). Apart from this, the
whole week of PPDI project is so good and interest and this overall, enhance my leadership
skills, learning and gain knowledge as well, which will helpful in my future. In my second week
of project, I draft learning contract and gain knowledge about learning and its types.
Further, at the end of week, teacher provided an assignment which needs to be completed
in a group and this helps to develop the team working abilities among us. In the same way, we all
also perform the task as prescribe and that is why we are able to complete the work and meet the
deadline as well. Moreover, the PPDI project also help to gain or enhance my knowledge so that
I will make the project more effective in future.
Feeling: it is the second stage of Gibbs model in which an individual describe own
feeling during that situation. While conducting the PPDI project, I feel so nervous at initial stage
because I cannot communicate easily with others. As I have to perform the work in a team and
due to lack of communication skills, I lower down my confident and this leads to creates
negative impact upon my performance. But when I start involving myself into the project and
introduce in team, helps me to feel better (Schultz and et.al., 2019). As we have a team of four
and we all have strength such that one of the member have strong catching power and makes
notes easily. This helps us to complete our weekly assignment better and other member have
strong communication skills which helps to buy or sell the share from other oil and gas company.
Apart from this, I also feel that there are some adverse situation in which I feel
demotivated but my teammates always ready to cheer me up. This team bonding realizes me the
importance of working in a team to feel happy and grateful. In my whole journey, we always
appreciate other team members work so that they feel motivated and energetic to perform more
better in next week (Lazzari, 2019). This strategy will help to stay away from the conflicts and
attain the best results without any obstacles.

Evaluation: From the above situation, I evaluated that initially I was so nervous and
hesitate to perform the work but I realized that overall the work is good and all the team mates
also contribute their best for reach the aim and objectives in better way. Such that when one of
the team member feel low or demotivated, other members encourage them to perform the work
in more effective way. Apart from this, I also evaluated that I enhance my current knowledge and
skills that helps me to perform the task in more better way. During the entire journey, I evaluated
that due to strong communication and bonding between our team members and all have strong
critical thinking abilities that helps to take better decision-making even in adverse situation.
Beside this, I further evaluated that overall, the project is quite good and interesting
because I learn different things that help me in my future. On the other side, we also start
brainstorming ideas on different topics and due to strong collaboration we are able to find plenty
of information in order to support different arguments (Casimiro and et.al. 2015). For instance,
due to collecting best and effective data, we are able to present our assessment for PPDI project
in successful manner. While on the other side, our silly mistakes sometimes makes us frustrating
but still we never lose our hopes and put our efforts to perform the work better. I evaluated that
This is the reason we perform our assessment of PPDI project in more better and systematic way.
Analysis: In my entire journey, I further analyse that I gain different skills such that
interpersonal skills, time management and also gain knowledge with regard to PPDI project.
Such that initially I faces different issues but with the support of my team members, I easily
overcome such problem. Beside this, I also analysed that working in team is more important as
compared to work individual because it helps to collect more information and using critical
thinking, we were easily solve different problem in better way. We also uses Tuckman 5 stages
of team development theory into our performance so that team was develop and also conduct the
work accordingly. Initially when we allot the work as per individual speciality will help to meet
the aim and objectives in better way.
On the other side, we also uses different theories and literature in order to conduct the
work in more systematic way and also enhance our knowledge. The best part in my team is such
that they all have moderate decision-making abilities which actually needs to improve so that it
will help in future. Apart from this, 4 of us posses good critical thinking abilities that helps to
solve every adverse situation. Thus it also reflect that we have moderate situation analyses skills
that should be developed further. Moreover, I analysed that we all put contribution in order to

successful closed the PPDI project as we all posses different strength which helps us a lot for the
successful completion (Nguyen-Truong and et.al. 2018).
Conclusion: From the entire journey of PPDI project, I concluded that I learn so many
good things with the project which further help me to conduct the project in more better way.
Further, I gain positive experience from the entire situation because whenever I find any
difficulties, I took help from my peers, supervisor and solve every doubts. This confident
supports me to complete the project in better way and can be used in my future project as well. In
addition to this, I further concluded that I also experienced some negative situation too such that
sometimes I was not able to understand the things in better way but that time, my teammates
supports me and elaborate the things in better way in order to encourage me for performing best.
In addition to this, I also concluded that I raise my presentation skills, interpersonal skills
but there is a need to develop leadership skills, decision-making skills and communication skills.
So that I will make better project in future. Therefore, it is also concluded that this PPDI project
will help to gain enough knowledge which can be used in my future projects.
Action plan: During my entire journey, I realized that there is a need to improve the
communication skills because it helps me in my future project as well. Therefore, I will attend
training session in order to improve the oral communication. Further, I also do interactive face to
face session that helps me to overcome this problem which will help me in my future personal as
well a professional career. Apart from this, I also analysed that by improving decision-making
skills I also take best decision for future. By improving decision-making skills, I easily improve
situational analysis skill which will further help to take right decision in my future (Sherwood
and McNeill, 2017). Further, I should also improve my leadership skills so that it will help me to
attain the work in specified deadlines, it Is quite essential to make effective strategies to
accomplish the aim.
