Critical assessment of the potential benefits to your organisation and the individual of
personally developing individuals in the workplace.
Individuals in an organization can be developed through setting an overall goal and encouraging
employees to work as per the goal. They should be provided with proper training and
development programs for developing their skills. A proper standard must be established and
employees should be motivated perform with respect to the established standard.
Relation to Taylor’s scientific management theory
Individual performance of an organization is dependent on the organization’s overall
performance. Increased performance level has a positive impact on the workplace achievement.
This can be understood in detail by taking Taylor’s scientific management theory.
Taylor’s scientific management theory focuses on improving efficiency of each individual in the
organization. The major emphasis is given on increasing performance of the organization as a
whole through developing individuals (Waring, 2016). This theory focuses on synthesizing and
analyzing workflows in the organization. The sole purpose of this management theory is to
improve economic efficiency and employee’s productivity. There are four basic principles of
Taylor’s scientific management theory. The first principle is time and motion study, where
organization’s motive is to study the way in which jobs are performed by the employees and to
find out improved ways. The second principle is to train, teach and develop employees in order
to improve their skills. This second principle is highly applicable in Lomax Gym for developing
individual skills of employees. The third principle is about harmonizing interest of employees
and employer in order to maintain healthy relationship among them. The fourth principle is
based on establishing appropriate levels of performance and pay premium to employees for
better performance. This an important principle of this management skill as employees put more
efforts in the workplace, when they are given proper standard for performing a work and given
premiums against improved performance.
By implementing scientific management theory, Lomax Gym can get many benefits in terms of
better quality services, advantages of employee distribution for performing different duties in
fitness club, better working condition and enhanced profit. The fitness club can ensure providing
better services to customers through effective supervision and taking measures of standardisation
