INTRODUCTION
Environmentalists have taken responsibility for the climate change which is taking place
which needs to be well maintained. Environmentalists want that there is going to be minimum
damage which is going to be received which is going to be good for a long run. Arguments
which environmentalists are putting forward are climate change which is a great concern for the
locals and the development of the country overall. Peace and disturbance which is going to be
created for the locals is the second argument which the environmentalists are putting forward to
the government to stop the expansion.
British airways focuses on the change in business travellers which has to be considered.
There are a lot of travellers which are coming in London which is why this organization is in
support of expansion which the government is ready to invest in. Pre-Covid there was a visible
growth in the passengers carried which was from 2009 which was 800,000 to 2.8 million as of
2019. Arguments which are going to be discussed in the further presentation are the economy
stability of the country and the company which is in favour. The second argument which the
British airways is putting for the expansion of the London city airport is that there are going to be
more businesses in the city and travellers are going to be more comfortable.
ARGUMENT 1
Environmentalists first argument is for the climate change which is going to be present.
Airport and aeroplane are creating a lot of air pollution any ways which is very harmful for the
society which needs to be monitored. More airports is going to result in more pollution which is
not going to be good and health safety of the population is going to be in concern. It is important
for the environmentalists to make sure that there is effective working which is going to be
present so that the population is going to have higher operations and understanding which is
going to be present. Environmentalists have to make sure that the government is taking care of
the surroundings of the population while making sure of the growth and development of the
country (Shen, Wang and Yang, 2018). There has to be good balance which is going to be
required so that there is going to be higher operations and health factor of the people is not in
danger. There is going to be land as well which is going to be occupied and that is not good for
the growth of country and also a lot of trees and plants which are going to be cut for the building
of this airport (Gorripaty and Hansen, 2017).

British airways is in favour of this growth because the country needs this development so
that there are going to be more tourists which are going to get attracted. There is a growth in the
travellers because Covid-19 hit globally which was a great factor for the overall development in
the country. There are a lot of businesses in London as well and for the comfort, easier travel and
faster travel this expansion is going to be really beneficial. A lot of aeroplanes which are going to
be got in this business so that there are more people who want to travel and it is going to be
beneficial as well. There is a free cash flow which is present in the market of London which is
going to be beneficial and more travellers are coming in the country as well because of these
airlines (Milmo, 2006). Government is going to be benefit is the argument which British Airways
is putting forward so that this project can get through but there is a lot of personal development
as well which is that second argument of the airlines.
ARGUMENT 2
Environmentalists have another point that the lifestyle and surroundings of the locals is
going to change when there are going to be so many aeroplanes which are going to take off in a
day. It is important for the businesses to consider the local lifestyle as well when they are getting
in the change which is going to be in favour of the environment so that there is going to be
effective working which would be present. Whatever the developments maybe is what
environmentalists say there has to be effective and not disturbing the people which is the basic
needs of the people (Serrano and Kazda, 2020). Pollution of air and noise is going to be very
disturbing and also make the wildlife be disrupted which is not going to be good for the overall
development of the country. Wildlife protection is also very important for country to have which
is going to help the tourists come in the country and that is going to be very helpful for a long
run.
British airways has expanded and 26 CityFlyer fleet have been included in the industry
too so that there are going to be more passengers. This factor has added at least 20% new BA
seats for London City in 2019. The organization had planned new destinations and further
decisions were taken by the company in order to be able to gain a profitability in the market
which is going to be a great factor for the company to have (Klinkert, 2019). British Airways is
thinking about personal reasons which are valid as well because the government is going to get
the right economy flowing in the market, resulting in higher income level of the population. The

lifestyle of the people and so are the values for others are going to increase which are important
to have. There is going to be effective working which is going to be good for the overall
development and that is going to be good for the people and company (Hafner, 2019).
CONCLUSION
From the above presentation it is analysed that both the stakeholders are putting their
points forward very strongly and it is going to be difficult for the government to make their
decision on this topic. The key argument for both the opponents are considered and have valid
points but there has to be a good benefit overall and not short term goals which can not be
overcome. The argument has been taking place from a long time and there has to be a decision
which has to be taken accordingly so that there is going to be effective growth which is going to
be present. Environment is changing on a large scale which has to be maintained so that there is
going to be effective working which is going to be present and that is going to impact the
working as well. The plan of expansion can be continued by the government which is going to be
beneficial for a long run because there is going to be more businesses. The environmentalists
have to be satisfied with this decision as well so that there is going to be higher functioning. This
decision has to be taken for the benefit of the country and city because this is going to add on to
the development of the country which is going to be a great factor.
RECOMMENDATIONS
There are a lot of solutions which can be taken out for expansion of London city airport
which is going to be beneficial for the country as well. There is going to be more pollution and
deforestation which is going to take place because of the construction of airport which needs to
be well maintained. Government will have to take measures to replant and make sure that the
environment is not getting harmed because of this decision which is going to be very good for
the overall working. The air pollution will also have to be controlled by planting and air purifier
in the country so that the air can be healthier for the population (Boyko and Prusov, 2018).
Disturbance in the local life is going to be disturbed and for that the route of the aeroplanes can
be shifted and also the expansion of the airport can be on the outside of the city so that the local
life is not being disturbed at all and the regular living of the people continues. Peace of the locals
is going to be disturbed is another argument which the environmentalists are having which has to

be solved so that there is going to be effective working which would be present. There are more
events which can be organized in London when there is going to be more improvement in the
country which is going to be visible so that there would be better operations. Guidelines are
going to be set by the government of the country related to this field so that there are going to be
effective working which is going to be present and that is going to be very good for the overall
functioning (Di Vaio and Varriale, 2020). The growth of LYC project is going to get in £586
million economy which is going to be a great factor for the development of the population of the
country and city as well.
