Introduction
QAHE has several campuses around UK and after assessing the current
condition of each of the campus, the authority has decided to refurbish and
redevelop the business wing of the London Campus. The authority has also
allocated a fund of £100k for the entire project.
Project Initiation Document (PiD)
Project Background
. During the course of this project, London Campus of QAHE will be
refurbished and redeveloped as per the instructions of the university. The university
wants to increase space and facilities for the departments and hence, the
redevelopment project has been authorised.
Methodology
The suggested approach (methodology) is to hire a contractor who will take
care of all the construction and refurbishment works in the campus. The overall
amount that is to be paid needs to be decided before handing over the contract to
the contractor. The contractor can use his own workers in the entire duration of the
project and their wages will be included within the contract sum only. The project can
be conducted utilising the PRINCE2 methodology where each and every part of the
project will be executed as per the work package breakdown discussed later in the
report.
Purpose of the project
The primary purpose of this project is to expand the existing facilities and
overall space available for the business students. The expansion will include

installation of some new facilities.

Project scope
For this project, refurbishment and redevelopment of the campus space for
the business students constitute the primary scope of the project.
Key Risk
One major risk that is very likely to occur in this project is the safety risk.
During the construction and refurbishment works, some accidents may occur that
can be cause serious injuries to the workers. One suggested method to avoid this
risk is to provide safety equipments to the workers and setting up a first aid camp
near the site so that instant medical attention can be provided to the injured workers.
Key Staff
The key staff in this project include the project manager, finance manager and
the board members of QAHE. While the project manager and the finance manager
are directly involved in the project, the board members will provide necessary
approvals and will also monitor the progress of the project.
