Introduction
Diversity of the sector
Diversity of the sector refers to maintaining evenness within the organization for
managing the social resilience. The components of diversity management includes the mission of
the livelihoods, economic goals and the globally acknowledged competitive index. According to
the researches the more maintained diversity in the workplace environment reflect more positive
workforce nature in the competitive world. In one word, diversity refers to evenness. Evenness in
the field of distribution of the work and behavior towards all the employees of the organization.
In the hospitality industry, countries including Japan, Brazil, Australia, and
Germany are the most popular country to maintain diversity efficiently. The entire diversity
includes industries such as hotels, restaurants, firms of transportation, and theme parks. Even for
the start-up businesses the entire universe is getting narrower. In this regard, the term
globalization can be introduced as it enables different people from different firms and places to
interact with each other. Hotels as a part of broader hospitality industry enables the employees to
enhance the cultural experiences staying within the organization.
To mention the importance of workplace diversity it can be include that it
reinforces and provide motivation to the staff of the organization to serve for the organization.
Within the organizational workforce environment, employees belong to different cultural
backgrounds. Hence, diversity is the way to interact with all the employees with similar attitude

Discussion
Features of the events
A huge part of the hospitality management is occupied by events and conferences
especially in the hotel industry. These integral parts helps the business industry to grow at a
greater speed. It has incorporation with music, sports, events, and various other means of luxury.
Hotel industry is one of the booming industries acknowledged globally (Adavanne and Virtanen
2017). Events provides business opportunities depending on which the industry grows with
proper orientation with the entire industry. For example, trade show, fashion event, product
launch, and conference all provide equal opportunities to a particular business to flourish
following the proper strategies.
Events in the hotel industry need to be professional and the employees need to
professionally handle the entire organization. Every individual industry has proper event
management specialization to properly manage the events and conferences (Maj 2016). It needs a
holistic experience that allow the employees to investigate about the concepts of event
management. Managing the events needs proper motivation as the main motive of this is to
attract the clients and generate company revenue. The combination of hospitality with events is a
contrasting thing. There are proper event management skills that can make a person proficiently
handle the event related to this industry (Aljaffal et al. 2019).
The event management in hotel industry requires a proper planner to manage the
space. Space refers to the rooms for dine, rooms for conferences or business meeting, ballrooms

for musical events and often need to select venues apart from own organization. The organizer
needs to be trained enough to plan the events successfully and reach the organization destination
towards the peak of success.
Current trends in the event industry
Event is and industry that needs to cope up with the recent trends. Event are made to
create memories for the future. These memories are made create an impact on the clients that
encourage them to select the similar organization for future events (Barron and Ali-Knight
2017). To create this impact the employees need to know the current trends of the event industry
to avail the facilities for the customers.
First come in this trend is the term called transformation. It is the latest trend becoming
popular in the event industry. The events should be dynamic in nature. So planning the events in
a way that a person who is going to stay not more than two to three minutes can leave with a
positive impact for the event planner (Ahmad and Conci 2019). The globe is becoming digital
hence all the services covering every field of the corporate world is getting digitalized.
The planner must remember that the clients want the services with proper authenticity. It
should not be confused with the tradition. Authentic and tradition are complementary terms for
each other but not synonymous to each other. For this reason, the planner must select authentic
places to organize the event and present all the event with authenticity.
An important part to be mentioned in this regard, that sustainability is getting attached
with all the industries now a days. Hence, the event industry also taking initiatives to handle the
events with sustainable activities (Warren, Becken and Coghlan 2017). Changing the

monotonous event planning into a sustainable plan will be a smart choice by the planner to
impress the clients as well as contributing to the notion of global sustainability.
Another trendy activity of event industry, is combining the events with hands-on
experience. It refers to use technology for events that can serve the purpose of the event rather
using them merely as props or as a style statement. It is contributing for the one single idea that
all the planned technologies will be useful to the attendees of the events.
Different job roles and responsibilities in event management
The entire organization is comprised of a hierarchy and every individual employee has
different job role and responsibilities that will serve for them and for the organization in whole.
For an event management there are two major job roles performed by event manager and event
coordinator. Their efficiency determine the success and failure of the event planning and
execution of the entire event.
Event manager is the most important person in this entire program. This person needs to
be comprised with vision, courage, and commitment for the position and towards the
organization. The manager is a myriad of professional responsibilities. This person, performs the
role of event direction. Directing an event includes providing the definition of the goal,
scheduling the activities and assigning them to the right person, supervision of the personnel,
selecting the team, motivating the team members, and finally evaluating the personnel working
under the manager’s supervision (Marcon et al. 2017).
The second most important job is the event coordination. It includes event coordination
and authoritative coordination. The main responsibility of an event coordinator is to

skilled in communicating with others. Should have the knowledge of project management skill as
directed by the manager. Most importantly the person needs the capability of negotiation with
the clients.
Key management responsibilities
Managers are the main trusted key employee of the event management program. The
responsibilities of a managers is multi-dimensional. In every sector, managers have similar kind
of job roles and responsibilities for the organization and for the employees of the organization.
The responsibility of the manager is a sort of accomplishment for the person as it provides the
opportunity to assess the professional potentiality of the person. It evaluates the capability to
successfully lead the employees, management of the organizational stress, and effective
coordination with the other employees.
For the event management the key responsibilities of a managers are mentioned in the
following section.
Regular operation – it is the most important and primary role of a manager. It includes
the monitoring of regular functioning of all the sections or groups of the organization or
the particular event (Sousa and Rocha 2017). Staffing – Most of the organization poses the responsibilities of hiring, interview, and
train the new employees. In the case of event management the managers also do the same

software are there to handle an event with efficiency. However, the importance of the manager
cannot be diminished. Some excellent persons possess the innate quality of managerial skills that
can influence the employees to achieve success. Hence, the attributes and skills of an ideal

Flexibility - events are usually extremely demanding in nature. Nothing can be fixed or
pre-determined for an event. There is a situation of flux in every kind of events. The
manager needs to be flexible enough to address the immediate challenges that can be
occurred during a course of event.

innovative in terms to direct the event and distribute the event related responsibilities to
the selected personnel.
Keen eye – a small thing can be responsible for serious damage. The event manager need
to pose a keen eye for monitoring every detail of the event to avoid any fault. Hence, the
manager needs to be attentive and deal with the time with efficiency for better
performance.
Providing a safe venue and environment for guests and staff
Concern for health and safety is an integral part of event management. As a manager
caring is also a part of the responsibilities. No matter how large the event is, health and safety is
always an important concern for both the mangers and other employees of the management team.
It is the way to show the caring nature of the organization for their customers.
To ensure a positive and safe environment for the guest and staffs there are certain factors
that should be kept in mind. The areas are mentioned in the following section.
Capacity – investigate about the capacity of the venue and the number of the attendees.
There should be enough seating arrangement according to the volume of the attendees
(Megheirkouni 2017). Overcrowding always leads to negative impact and ill management
of the event.

be done. It includes flooring, high winds, and other related consequences happened
previously at the venue (Zhao et al. 2016).
Facilities – the location should be nearby a hospital or any fire station to avoid sudden
problems.
Overall it should be mentioned that assessing the probable risks before planning the event
is an important job. This responsibility is provided to the manager and the authority of the
organization. Make a list of all the probable hazards that can be occurred during the time of event
and plan out the possible solution for all those hazards. Being cautious can help to create a
positive impact on the attendees and hence cater to the component of trust on the organization.
