Use on latest and improved technology has helped rustically in providing better visual and
better appearance and also in relation with the security of people who visit to enjoy the event. In
this context, there were many technological innovations which were helpful in providing better
services. Innovation is something in which something new is developed or changes are made in the
existing product or service. Innovation takes place when product or services provides identify issue
and they make changes accordingly so that issues could be resolved (Wu, 2012). Following are the
innovations in relation with the technological which took place in London Olympics:
Cameras which are robotic: These type of cameras were placed at different place at Olympics
stadium and were capable of rotating 360 degree. These cameras were very helpful in taking
pictures in 3-D. In addition to this, these cameras were capable of taking delicate photos which
humans can not because of security issues (Gold, Seuring and Beske, 2010). The photographers are
not allowed on the place where events take place, they all have keep a certain distance form the
actual place where competitions are held. For such situations, these robotic cameras are proved to
be very helpful in getting photos with the help of which clear and most important movement are
also possible.
Souped-up sound system: According to this innovation in London Olympics, most of the sound
which are head on the television during the game are not real. These sounds are pre-developed and
then mashed up with the competition so as to get a real effect (Martinez, Stapleton and Van
Document Page
Wassenhove, 2011). In optimized conditions, some of the sounds are recorded in advance and then
they on the television they are superimposed. These type of pre-recorded sounds are recorded from
the audience who visit to watch the competition, when ever these audiences cheer-up or shout for
their favourite athlete they record it and play it when they have the race or competition.
Cameras which go all over: Cameras which are capable of capturing every motion of athletes are
challenging tasks but with the use of improved technology. There are cameras which are capable to
doing it. In addition to this, there are cameras which are helpful in capturing synchronised
swimming (Trkman, 2010). These cameras are capable of capturing photos or videos below or
above the water. Moreover, there is a camera which was designed in Japan which is very helpful in
capturing images above and below the water level so as to get a perfect picture. Earlier, it was very
difficult to take photograph of athletes when they were on to the competition. But improvement in
technology has helped in innovating cameras which are capable of taking picture even if athletes are
competing for any race. In simple words, it was very difficult to take motion pictures. But know,
with the help of innovation in cameras, London Olympics are able to take motion pictures and that
also above or below water (Arnold, 2011). Mostly it was difficult to take photos of swimming
competitions. But now with the help of innovation in cameras, they are able know how participants
perform under water as well.
Track suits: Nike have come up with suits which are lighter than any of the track suits. This
innovation done by Nike is very helpful for the participants to put on their full efficiency as they
need not to carry the weight which they had to with their old track suits. In addition to this, these
suit is helpful in providing the used of advantage of about 0.043 seconds. This difference can be
compared as similar with gold and platinum (Wheelen and Hunger, 2011). Earlier, these types of
suits were heavy and because of which the participant found difficulty in performing their race
properly. But innovation has helped them in solving their issue and in this context, Nike has
developed the lightest fabric which are very helpful for the participants.
No more false start: New blocking start has been introduced which are very helpful in measuring
the force applied by the participants. Earlier, they used to note down the movement made by the
participants which always resulted in false start, but now with the help of new device they are able
to have a perfect start.

4. RECOMMENDATIONS
4.1 Recommendations to managing risks
Generally there are many recommendations for managing risk for London Olympics events in 2012.
Mainly event organizers faced many risks in this programme. To overcome these risks, many
suggestions are given below the paragraph.
To reduce the health related risks, event planners should manage proper sanitation through
hiring proper cleaning staff in London Olympics events. In addition to this, they should use
medicines to destroy the harmful germs as well as insects in the programme (Swarbrooke and Page,
2012). This process can also help the management to overcome from this risk in the event.
To overcome from security risk, event organizers should use proper CCTV cameras for
digital recording of events in the ground and its associated areas in London Olympics events. This
process can also help the management to monitor the people and it can aid them to identify the
potential suspects and threats in the programme. In addition to this, event planners should take help
of local police and military forces to manage higher security in the ground and other fields. There
are chances that people among the crowed would have come to create issue. In order to avoid this
kind of situations, management should focus on installing cameras everywhere and should be
monitored regularly. As a result, such individuals could be identified easily and risk could be
managed easily. This thing can contribute effective role for management to stop the terrorist attacks
and fire explosions in London Olympics events (Ngai, Chau and Chan, 2011).
To decrease the construction, transport and infrastructure risk, event organizers can follow
various steps in the programme. For constructions and infrastructure risk, management should use
effective quality of raw material for designing and developing this type of works. Further, event
planners should take help of architects to reduce these risks in London Olympics events. There are
many cases in which damage to viewers and participants occurred just because the materials used
were not strong enough to hold on the viewers and thus it collapsed (Leveson, 2011). In order to
avoid such kind of issues it is very important for the management to use quality material so that risk
could be minimized. The management could also help to design and develop effective construction
and infrastructure in the ground and other areas. This process can also help the management to
