Introduction
Sustainability is doing work while considering the requirement of the resources for the upcoming
situation that is the completion of the work without harming and depleting the existing resources.
Sustainability in the construction industry includes sustainability in building creations in a

must, which can be helped by the contractors and designers to minimize the consumption,

 Helpful in mitigating the global environmental threats – through integrating sustainable
development to the social, environmental, and economic prospects it could be possible to
deplete the threats global environment, for instance, the climate change (Tukker &
Charter, 2017).
 Reduced poverty, unemployment, pollution, and poor housing – sustainability
development is responsible for acts like fair taxation, workers’ rights, business ethics, and
trade. This will result in a reduction in poverty through an increase in opportunity.

Key achievements and lessons of the London Olympic
Park and its influence on this project
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, was built in 2012, which was identified for sustainable
development considering the environment and sustainability. The park considered to keep the
promise for the creation of sustainable development, with the resources required and the world’s
changing climate. The objective was the appropriate use of games’ innovation, inspiration, and
infrastructure, for which the park was designed according to sustainability as its core
significance. For this, the London legacy development corporation’s sustainability was included,
which focuses majorly on four themes that are smart parks, future living, garden district, and
neighborhoods. This was one of the major infrastructures of the country which could be the key
learning for the project. For instance, the sustainability report of the London Olympic park 2030.

Third sustainable issue or opportunity identified was a community, which the corporation
considers promoting the economic growth that will be helpful in diminishing the inequality for
Londoners. This will be helpful for promoting the development of the community by providing
the homes, jobs, and social infrastructure (greenbiz, 2019)
Land use strategy, the major sustainable opportunity identified was the use of land in a more
sustainable way. With the plan, it was confirmed, it was said that the urban quarter must be
redeveloped comprehensively in order to make it available for the accommodation of minimum
twenty-four thousand households and increase the jobs to be increased 55,000. This leads to one
of eth major sustainability issue that is the requirement of new transport, social infrastructure,
and utility. This will require the resources from the environment and society. For this, London

cleantech hub. The city’s mayor was advised to create low carbon economy, for which the

would enable the advanced forms that would be rolled out from various equipment through
demand response technology (greenbiz, 2019).
Recommendations
 Green roofs – this could be included to keep the roofs cool, building the resilience for
preventing the area from floods, and creation of open space.

 Keeping dry – it is recommended to include the urban drainage into the designing
strategy of the project
 Use of appliances – highly efficient appliances must be used to save the energy depletion
and wastage
 Smart meters – this could be helpful in monitoring and control the use of energy and the
smarty appliances could be implemented to reduce the consumption
 Recycle it – the state could promote the zero waste strategy that includes the waste to
landfills (Titarenko, 2017)

Conclusion
From the report, it can be concluded that the sustainability plays relevant role in ensuring the
availability of resources for future generation. The cities are converting into sustainable cities,
for the reason to reduce the harm to the environment. Sustainability development influences the
economy of the nation, social implications, and environment in whole. It was observed that the
sustainability is relevant in the construction industry to greater extent, for instance, In the case of
new building construction, the consumption of resources is must, which can be helped by the
contractors and designers to minimize the consumption, however, would not be able to change
the commitment overall. The report included Old Oak common and royal park project in
London, for sustainability development. The major sustainable issues or opportunity identified
were the transportation and local connection, the energy consumption and carbon emission, for
which the opportunity for area planning frameworks works and assign to develop the area into
more sustainable.
Other major infrastructure in London was Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, through which their
were various aspects that can be considered as learining from the sustainable project that can
