TEAM BUILDING
Team building is determined as the effective skill which helps individual in performing their
business activity effectively within the company. This also provides support to the person in
accomplishing their predetermined goals and objectives with one another’s support. Business
managers or other superior managers takes range of initiatives for developing effective bond
among employees and also influence them to work collaboratively so that their goals can get
accomplished in rightful manner.
As being a supervisor in the London Underground, I have to have to handle whole team
working in the company and also ensure that all of my team members work freely and securely
at the site. By being a supervisor in my company it is my responsibility to develop positive
environment for workers where they feel comfortable and could also perform their work in
lucrative manner (Ohlert and Zepp, 2016). While talking about my own team building skill it can
be said that an quite good in this skill as I am able to influence my team workers to get
influenced towards the work and complete it effectively within the provided time frame. On the
basis of viewpoint presented by the author named as Lin and Shih, (2018), it can be said that
Tuckman building theory is an effective framework that provides guidance to the team members
about the development of team. As per this framework there are five stages such as forming,
storming, Norming, performing and adjourning which one by one reflects that how effectively
team formulates and further work collaboratively in order to bring success towards the company.
The respective author has further specified that none of the group starts performing their
activities or assigned work effectively from the initial stage only. Instead of this every team
requires some time for developing their personal bond with each team members and after its
complete formulation the respective team starts working effectively. Furthermore, it can be said
that growth of the team can be enhanced by the completion of each stage. Apart from this, it can
be said that effective team is considered as the one which more task focused and contributes in
the completion of organisational goals and objectives (Ellis, 2018).
By analysing Tuckman theory effectively, it can be said that it is one of the best theory
that could provide support any of the manager or supervisor like me while handling the overall
team. At the very first time, I have read about this theory in mu academic life where my teacher
has explained this to me but at that point of time I thought that this is only the theoretical concept

which does not hold any kind of relevancy in the real life. But when I have started working in the
London underground as a Protect Workers Team, then I have personally started incorporating
this framework in the real life in order to develop the team which will work collaboratively and
attain their respected goals and objectives in appropriate manner. While implementing it
effectively I got to know that I am good in handling the team as my team members were looking
satisfied and happy while working under me. The main reason behind this was my strong
communication skill which have made it easier for me to influence all my team members to work
effectively by following all the norms and polices that have been provided to them at the time of
their selection. My strong communication skill have also supported me to in explaining all
important information to the team members about the work which is expected by me as well as
other superiors from them. This clear form of communication has developed knowledge of
workers about their work. As a result, these employees are able to perform their work effectively
and in safe manner. With reference to my own experience, it can be further said that workers
performing their work in the tunnel are required to perform their work in safe and proper
disciplinary manner (Jackson, 2015). This is so because, chances of risk and accident are higher
the site. My strong communication skills have provided huge support to each team worker to
perform their work in safe manner as they are having detailed knowledge about each and every
risky cases and situations that might occur at the location. As being a Protect Workers Team in
London Underground, it is my responsibility to encourage my team members at every stage of
their working so that they can get motivated towards the work and perform their work with best
efforts.
In addition to this, I have also realised that my time management skill was also up to the
mark as I am very punctual and strict towards my work which have influenced my team workers
too to complete the work before the time only. I personally believe to develop an effective time
management plan in which I mention all the activities which are the part of my task. After
mentioning each and every activity I further prioritise the work according to its core requirement
and finalises time for it so that it can get accomplished within the predetermined time frame.
After developing this plan in rapid manner, I provide the same information to each team worker
so that they can develop their understanding over each activity along with the availability of time
towards the same. This helps team workers in completing the assigned task in rightful manner
within the limited time frame. From my overall experience, I have realised that I have developed

range of skills while working as the Protect Workers Team in London underground. Some of the
main skills developed by me are strong convincing skills, conflict management, problem solving,
communication skill, coordinating skill, time management and many others. Among them all, i
was already having effective command over few of the skills but still I have learned other skills
from my own experience of working as the supervisor and handling team. According to me
patience is determined as the most important thing which must be owned every team leader
which helps them in maintaining adequate functioning of the team and also supports in attaining
team goal effectively with one another support.
