INTRODUCTION
Communication can be defined as the act to transfer thoughts and
perceptions to some other person by using symbols, language of any
other mode. Communication is the process which takes place between
more than two persons. This poster entails about barriers of
communication within tube system of London and adoption of some
strategies to overcome the same along with involvement of cultural
awareness.

Different kinds of barriers
1. Social conditions and over crowdedness
It has been observed that due to hot temperature and over
crowdedness passengers feels hot and grumpy due to which they get
irritated and try to avoid any communicational aspect. Due to over
crowdedness people do not get seat to sit and as there are many
tourists who are using tube services they are following different
customs such as they speak loudly and eats in the tube which might
irritate other passengers.

2. Cultural barrier
People pursue different meaning of signs and symbols in different
culture. In London tube system there is no proper arrangement by
which people from various cultural can be communicated and
conveyed the information which they are required to know, this is
creating communication barrier within Londoners and other
people.

3. Lack of indications
In tube system of London it is seen that there is lack of
indication as no proper signs and hints are given to
passengers so that they can follow them in order to avoid any
inconvenience. Due to this barrier these tubes are loaded
with high passengers due to whom people are facing trouble.

Strategies to overcome communication
barriers
There are various strategies which can be used by management of London tube
system in order to deal with communicational barriers which are elaborated as
under:
Stickers and posters: By using banners and stickers which contains
special indication in various languages such as restrictions to eat in the tube and
other indications so as to help people in understanding perceived behaviour at
tubes so as to eliminate grumpiness and establish effective communication.
Improvement in infrastructure: This is the most prominent strategy
which can be used to eliminate barriers in communication. As in this more trains
can be provided to passengers in order to avoid crowd and on the other side
limitation can be imposed on number of passengers within a tube so as to provide
space within tubes. This will help the people to cool down their temperament
which can boost their communication skills.
Training to personnel: As London is a place where large cultured people
are living and using the services of tubes, so in order to tackle those people it is
required by the management to appoint such personnel who are multilingual so as
to provide assistance to those people who are having trouble in understanding the
instructions. This will help to reduce communication barrier within passengers.

Cultural awareness
The above strategy entails that stickers and posters are added
cultural awareness as indications in various languages and culture is
added on that. Personnel of tube are given training to highlight
cultural significance so as to enhance cultural awareness. Further the
involved language within stickers and posters required being free
from any jargons and tough signs, it should be common so that
could be understood by varied culture people.

Conclusion
From the above poster it can be deduced that within London tube
services there are various barriers which are faced by passengers
such as Lack of indications, Cultural barrier, Social conditions and
over crowdedness and by adopting strategies such as Stickers and
posters, Improvement in infrastructure, Training to personnel the
barriers can be removed and positive impact can be seen.
