INTRODUCTION
Visitor attraction is the place of interest where large number of tourist visit within a
limited period of time. Tourist generally visit such places for its natural cultural values, historical
significance or built beauty. It is very much essential for the economy and visitor management
companies to implement effective strategies for managing attraction of visitors. The
organisations chosen for this report is London and Partners which is the promotional agency
operating its functions in different parts of London(Leask,2016). Major topics covered in this
report are various classification and importance of visitor attraction, type for a range of different
visitor attraction. Negative and positive impact of visitor attraction on tourism will also be
covered in this report. Various visitor management strategies along with its implications for
sustainable development will be discussed for achieving the goals and objectives in the best
possible manner.
TASK 1
P1 Different classifications of visitor attraction in relation to specific categories of visitor
attraction.
There are different kinds of places in every country which attract large number of visitors
within limited period of time. Government of particular country also tries to make major changes
so that tourist are attracted. Increase in tourism will not only benefit the organisation but also
lays a positive impact on overall development of economy. The major type of attractions which
are visited by tourist and visitors are mentioned below-
Natural Category: These are those places which are build naturally and due to its
uniqueness visitors get attracted towards such places. These generally include- hills, mountains,
lakes, climactic conditions, etc. The best example of such places is Eppling forest which is
located in London. It is a woodland forest which is covered in nineteen kilometres. Forest is
famous for its horse riding, mountain biking, etc(Page, 2011).
Build Category: These are man made places which are generally made for attracting
large number of visitors. Such type of places are build by different organisation and also be the
contribution government of particular country. Major focus is emphasised in making the place

attractive so that large number of tourist are visited. Example of build category is London Eye
which is a most famous place of London. It is famous for its cantilevered observation wheel.
Build for another purpose category: These type of places were earlier build with the
motive of some other use but now it is famous for its different features. The example of these
type of places in South bank centre. It is famous for its artistic venture, it is also known as the
largest art, music, drama and painting centre.
These were some of the sources of attraction for visitors in London. These places
attracts and encourages the visitors which directly helps in increasing the economical conditions
of particular country(Michalkó, Irimiás and Timothy, 2015).
P2 The importance of different visitor attraction in relation to overall purpose and impact upon
economic growth.
Tourist places a very important role in increasing the economy of particular country
within limited period of time. As with the help of this different kinds of job opportunities are
offered at the local, national and international level. If the government of particular country is
not able to implement appropriate plans for maintaining these places in proper manner. Than
visitors may not get attracted towards such places. There are large number of places in London
which directly contributes in the growth of economy, some of among them are discussed below-
Epping forest at London: This place is famous because it is covered with ancient
woodland in 24 hectares. It is also known as royal forest. Its maintenance is basically
done by City of London Corporation. It is famous for mountain biking, horse riding, etc.
Various other type of activities are also organised with the motive of attracting large
number of visitors during at particular season(Pullman and Rodgers, 2010).
London Eye: It is located in Lambeth ,London and is famous for Ferris wheel. The
building process of this place was started in 1998 and was finally completed in the year
2000. London Eye was awarded for its unique design in the year 2001. large number of
cost was involved in building this place, it was approximately £ 70 million. It
maintenance is mainly done by Merlin Entertainments and focus is emphasised on
attracting high number of visitors by keeping the place attractive. Visitors generally
attract this place because of its height and location(Inkson and Minnaert, 2018).
South bank Centre: This place is mainly famous for its artistic venture which is located
in London. It is at south bank of Thames River, it is between Waterloo bridge and

hunger ford bridge. There are different other places which are famous among the visitors,
these generally include- Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth hall, etc. South bank
Centre was established in the year 1951.
These places directly and indirectly impact on the economy and functioning of London in the
negative and positive manner. As with the help of these places GDP of the economy is increased
and individuals also get different kinds of job opportunities at the local and international level.
Impact on Economy
Enhance source of foreign earning: With the help of tourism chances of increase in the
economy is directly increased. As if large number of visitors are attracted towards at
particular country than its economy will automatically grow at local and international
level. It will lead to increase in source of earning for the economy in the best possible
manner(Weidenfeld, Williams and Butler, 2014).
Employment generation: With the help of tourism chances of employment opportunities
in a particular economy will be increased. As individuals will be getting new and better
chances for increasing their living standard in the best possible manner. It will lay a
positive impact on the growth and development of economy at different levels.
Exchange of culture: If there is high tourism in a particular country than its culture can
be exchanged with another. This is lead to growth and development of both the countries
in a systematic manner. With the help of this better talented and skilled individuals can be
used by the organisations. It will directly increase the growth rate of economy and other
factors related to it.
These were some of the factors which directly and indirectly impact on the development
of economy, there are some other factors also. Its positive impact are increase in foreign
exchange, increase in investment opportunities for the economy, better development of
infrastructure, etc.

P3 The need and motivations of different visitor types for a range of different visitor attraction.
The motive of tourist for visiting a particular place may vary from person to person. This
means motive of visiting a particular place for any individual may be very much different from
the other. There need and wants are also different from each other. These needs are fulfilled after

visiting a particular place for a specific period of time. There are also various kinds of things
which motivates the individual in visiting the place. The different kinds of visitors along with
their needs are mentioned below-
Demographic segmentation: This type of factor is segmented by the tourist on the basis
of age, caste, religion, etc. This means people who visit such places generally have
different kinds of need and requirement which they want to be fulfilled. Young visitors
will be visiting a particular place different mind set and perspective while old age people
will visit the place for some other motive(Van Niekerk, 2014). This means people form
different age will have different motive and perspective behind going to a particular
place.
Psycho-graphical segmentation: In this type of factor people generally visit a particular
place because of their lifestyle or culture. This means of the individual have some kind of
cultural values associated with the place than they will focus in visiting it. Keeping this
factor in mind government of particular country also plans different set of strategies so
that people are attracted towards it. New and innovative strategies are made and
implemented by the government for increasing the satisfaction and experiences of visitors
in the best possible manner.
Business Tourist: These are those people who tries to visit a particular place for a
business motive and purpose. Individual who fall in this category travel from one place to
another for their official work and gets paid for it. Example of this factor is salesman who
travel from one place to another for benefit of their business(Hatton, 2012).
Adventure Tourist: These type of individuals visit places to enjoy and gain better
experiences. Individuals who falls in this category generally want experiences of
adventurous activities in the best possible manner. These activities include- rock
climbing, bungee jumping , etc.
The management of London and Partners focuses on implementing strategies according
to the need and demands of its customers. This is done by promoting diverse places to tourist as
per their need and requirement. With the help of this better satisfaction is provided to visitors in

P4 The negative and positive impact of visitor attraction tourism.
There are different factors which lays a positive and negative impact on the attraction
capability of the visitors. These factors generally include- social, cultural, economic and
environmental causes which affects the visitor attraction to a great extent. It becomes very much
essential for the organisation to implement appropriate strategies as per current market situations.
As by doing this chances of negative impact on these factors can be reduced in the best possible
manner. Negative and positive impact on these factors are discussed below-
Social factor- These type of factors are related with the values, belief and mindset of the
individuals who belong from a particular area. This factor lays positive as well as negative
impact on the visitors attraction(Ivančić and et. al., 2017).
Positive impact- If a particular place is associated with social values of individuals than large
number of visitors will be attracted towards it. This will improve the experience of the visitors.
Negative impact- If large number of people will visit a particular place than its infrastructure
might not be maintained in the proper manner. Organisation and government might not be able to
handle situation of overcrowding and poor sanitation which will lead to increase in problems.
For example the government of London is not able to maintain uniqueness of London Eye than it
will be negatively affecting the visitor tourist attraction.
Cultural factors- Tourism in the economy is directly connected with culture of a
particular region. This positive and negative impact are-
Positive impact- It will lead to overall development of the local people within limited period of
time. Better education and leisure facilities will be offered to the individuals, it will also lead to
increase in standard of living of the individuals(Rodrigues and Carlos Pinho, 2012).
Negative impact- Visiting of large number of Tourist will result in disturbance in the local
culture. This means local individuals will try to copy lifestyle of visitors which will result in loss
in their traditions.
For example South bank Centre must also be done maintained in the proper manner so that
chances of negative impact can be reduced.
Economic factor- It is concerned with use of better strategies for improving the
economical condition in the best possible manner.
Positive impact- It will directly improve the economical conditions of the local individual as
they will be getting equal chances of increasing their lifestyle.

unequal income disparities some area might not get appropriate development chances.

Feasibility study is very much essential for London &Partners. As with the help of this
better plans and strategies can be made for increasing the satisfaction level of visions. It will
guide the management of organisation in implementing strategies as per the current demand of
market and also according to availability of competition. By Feasibility study of visitor
attraction for London Eye number of visitors can be increased in the best possible manner. Some
of the factors related with feasibility study are mentioned below-
Market demand- Plans and strategies can be made according to the current demand of
visitors related to London Eye. This is if visitors demand to visit a particular place than different
set of plans can be made for the same.
Competition- The attraction also faces large number of competition form different other
visitor places.
Better services can also be provided to visitors so that their overall experience is
increased. This means different kinds of programmes can be organised for visitors so that they
can have better experience.

P6 Different visitor management strategies and implications they have for sustainable
development.
Forming and implementing visitor management strategy will lead to increase in overall
satisfaction of the visitors. Plans and strategies can be made for offering better services to
visitors. Some of the major strategies implemented for the achieving of sustainable development
are mentioned below-
The management of London &Partner is plans it future course of action as per the need
and preferences of the visitors(Wang, Chen and Chen, 2012).
Different activities can be organised for increasing the overall satisfaction level of
visitors and also for making best use of available resources.
Sustainable development is concerned with make plans for increasing and enhancing the positive
impact on the visitor tourism management. For increasing this organisation can focus using the
resources in optimum manner. Innovative plans and strategies can made for increasing the
positive impact of these resources.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that management of visitor attraction is very
much essential for the organisations. As with the help of this goals and target can be easily
achieved within limited period of time. By classifying different visitor attraction organisation
will be able to contribute in the growth and success at local, regional and national economy.
After evaluating the various type of different visitor attraction chances of negative impact on the
economy can be reduced. Sustainable development can be achieved by planning various things in
advance for the future course of action in the effective and efficient manner.
