MAIN BODY
“Lord of the Flies” is a novel stating the tale of young boys who finds them alone on the
Island. They form their own ways and rules to survive in that lonely separate Island and during
that term, some of them gets violent, brutal and impatient. While going with this tale of boys it
has been noticed that that human nature and fundamentals are one way of another a bless and
savage to survive.
“Piggy” is the character for which I would like to highlight the diary entry. He is a cute,
chubby, and intelligent boy who is mostly believed and known for his mental intelligence and
capabilities and is weak from physical perspective. He often suggests innovative ideas and
suggestions to the needful so according to me he has critical mind and problem solving skills.
Due to the fact of wearing glasses, there have been instances where he was bullied by other
characters of story which made him facing various emotional challenges. There was a moment
in the story where due to some reasons piggy loses possession of his glasses and soon as that
happens he loses the will to survive and considers himself as the weakest person on the Island
and he lost his confidence. He always thinks himself to be weak other than the moments he is
with Ralph. He thinks Ralph to be his strength and ally and his all loyalty goes towards him. He
helps all other is through his mental intelligence but as soon as Ralph gets weak or powerless it
appears that, he also loses the strength and motivation to survive in the lone place. As far as I
was able to understand the stories, it felt to me that since Ralph was his true friend and ally he
always had his trust on him and whenever there would have been any option to choose a leader
of the lone Island he would have always gone with Ralph (Hasim, 2018) as he was confident
and strong enough to solve complex problems.
There was an incident in the novel where Simon another character of the story is
murdered due to the reason of being misrepresented as a violent person and chaos maker by all
the other boys In the Island. In addition, in this tragedy Ralph and Piggy were part of Simon’s
Murder. However, since Ralph is believer in maintaining rules and power but in this chaos
even, he was unsure if he was able to follow that and he spoke line saying “I’m frightened of
us.” This line means that he was king of unsure if this rules in which he believe will be able to
save life of all the boys on the Island. (Larasati, 2019)

There were moments in the story where Ralph lost his confidence of being an leader for
example when everyone in the Island started eating the pig uncooked and were not ready to
listen to him which is as per him dangerous to eat an uncooked raw pig. However, Piggy
regularly kept motivating him and encouraged to be a leader and architect of their survival. This
story made believe in the concept of human rules and powers are the one, which leads every
activity to be done systematically.
