Prompt – 1
Earliest Death or Loss
Death and loss are a constant part of the lives of the human beings. All human beings
should follow the cycle of birth, growing up and finally dying. I have encountered a number
of deaths in my family in my 25 years of age. However, the earliest death which I have
encountered in my life was the time when my uncle had died. I will explain about this in the
coming paragraphs.
In this case, let me mention my grandfather had four sons, my father being the
youngest. The uncle I am talking about in this prompt was the eldest of all brothers. He was
suffering from chest pain for a long time. Finally came the night when, he breathed his last
breath.
I remember everyone was so shocked when the news reached our place at about 3
a.m. in the morning. Within a few seconds, the environment of the house changed from one
of shock to one of grief. Every member of the family broke down in tears hearing about the
sudden demise of my uncle. The night passed and the morning of mourning and grief arrived.
The relatives of the family had started arriving at the place to console the family members
about the incident. When the body arrived from the hospital, my aunt, mother, father and
other members of the family broke down in tears. Unfortunately, I was far too young at that
time to realize the situation, but I had realized that something very bad had happened and
hence I also had started crying, seeing others cry.
I felt that my mother and father had supported me at that time by explaining that
everything was going to be okay and that my uncle is in a better place with God. I had
gradually calmed down on hearing this news myself.

The death of my uncle had taught me one of the most important lessons of my life
even in my young age. I had realized form this fact that the human beings are not really as
invulnerable as they like themselves to believe. I learnt the fact that death will consume all
human beings when they reach the end of their lives.
I got to know the fact that the births and deaths are a part of the life of the humans. I
came to know human beings if they are born, will ultimately die one day. This lesson has
helped me to accept the subsequent losses or deaths in my life as a natural part of the
existence of the human beings. This loss has helped me to change my outlook on life and
death.
Prompt – 2
Most Significant Death or Loss
Life and Death are considered to be necessity of the life of human beings. Human
beings have to follow the life cycle of birth, death and rebirth until the time they attain
salvation. I got to know this lesson from the books, but I got to learn this lesson from the
heart on seeing the number of deaths in the family. The deaths and the losses which I have
encountered in my life.
My grandmother had died in the year 2011, when I as a 11th standard student. She was
suffering from brain tumour. Needless to say, she had suffered a lot, but all that ended when
she breathed her last painful breath at 9 a.m. in the morning.
The situation in the family was quite similar at the previous death which I had
described about in the earlier prompt. It included the family members breaking down in tears
and neighbours as well as the relatives coming to the place to console the family members.,

This death was personal for me it was needless to say I loved my grandmother a lot.
This is because of the fact that my grandmother had played an important part in my
upbringing. Since both of my parents work, she practically brought me yup when they used to
be in office. Therefore, it would be natural that I would be affected by her death. Hence, I
learned from this death that not a single human being can be saved form their fates.
Everything is destined for the humans. They have a particular duration of living after which
the humans are destined to die. Hence, it would be futile to resist against death as death will
consume the humans when their time will come.
While I have learnt to accept the role of fate in the lives of the human beings, I still
believe that good life and good deeds done by the humans will be rewarding to them, in their
afterlife, which I sincerely believe to be the case for my grandmother, as she was a good
woman who always saw the good in everything.
While I was not able to save my grandmother, in the future, I have learnt to accept life
and death as part of the existence of the human beings and I will try to abide by that rule
itself.
