Dream job detailed job description
Our health care facility is looking for a competent licensed Practical nurse (LPN) at the
long term resident the LPN will aid to fulfill the requirements of our patients. The licensed nurse
will not be under the supervision of any nurse manager or registered nurse and hence should be
fully accountable of their duties. He/ she would be fully accountable for the safe care delivery to
all the patients. Time flexibility should be there available for the LPN’s and will be provided
with shifts as per their will but they should be willing to work overnights during excessive
patient load.
The main responsibility of the licensed nurse will be to provide bedside care, administer
medicines and proper electronic documentation of the results. The LPN should have a vivid
knowledge regarding the medication administration. The LPN would be able to provide a
bedside care, administer medications and document the therapeutics effects, take the vital signs
and assist the residents with comfort. One of the main job roles in this context is to develop an
interpersonal relationship with the patient especially the older patients. The nurses may have to
take the residents to walks or personal shopping and have to look after their grievances.
The pay role of an LPN in this age care is impressive and is subjected to increment on the
basis of experience and competency. The nurses are allowed to attend outpatient personally for
an extra income but only after a written consent from the accreditation body.

nurses. The nurses working in here should take care of the vital signs recorded by the registered
nurse and keeping a proper record of the clinical handovers, assigning duties to the non licensed
nurses. One of the important aspects of the role of the LPNs working here is that they have to be
a part of the multidisciplinary team (Turner, 2017). Hence they also have to work on their
individual competencies while working within a team LPNs are not much allowed to take
decisions for the patients unless there is an absence of registered nurses. The LPNs will have to
deal with patients belonging to diverse cultural background and thus are entitled to provide a

Comparison of the two job descriptions
One of the differences between the dream job description and the authenticated job
description is that, the Alberta LPN nurses have to work under the nurse manager or the
registered nurse, whereas in my dream job the LPNs will have the full autonomy to take their full
decisions regarding the patient care after consultation with the doctors. Furthermore the dream
job description emphasizes more on getting in to a personal relationship with the patient who can
sometimes become difficult and is beyond the scope of practice and the accountability of the
nurses.
Unlike the dream job there will be flexibility in timings although the nurses might have to
work for long hours during patient load. Furthermore there will high payroll in comparison to the
authenticated job description.
Rationale for the choice of authenticated job
LPN is quite rewarding profession with a bright future. It is an ideal job for a person
wanting to devout his/ her life by helping and looking after the sick and injured ("Licensed
Practical Nurse", 2018) .Nursing has been a smart career choice over the years as the field has
extended his paws over various fields. The health care consumers are increasing day by day
along with the demands of the health care professionals including the licensed nurses ("Licensed
Practical Nurse", 2018). One of the biggest rationales for taking up this job opportunity is the
shortage of staffs and the heavy demand for the competent licensed nurses. This job profile gives
full scope to the nurse to test their nursing skills and provide a compassionate of care to the
patients. The excellent organizational will be helpful in developing the interpersonal relationship
