INTRODUCTION
Digital system can be described as elements that includes hardware, network, software along
with their use. There is different component that is required for purpose of developing on system.
Digital system is important for digital transformation that is important for survival of business in
digital landscape (Blau and Shamir-Inbal, 2018). These digital systems are important for purpose
of improving hiring process as company can maintain records of candidate on digital system.
This system also helps company to maintain other record of employees like leave, salary and
personal information. It also allows company to build good relationship with their patients as
effective digital system assist company for maintain privacy of patients records that is important
in order to maintain privacy. This project report includes description of reason due to which
health care organisation become vulnerable and dependent with use of information systems. It
explains different internet challenges faced in view of the protection of healthcare staff, patients
and customers data, privacy and intellectual property. It explains different ways in which
informed consent, legislation, industry self–regulation and technology tools help protect the
individual privacy of internet users. Moreover, it includes discussion of ways that protect
intellectual property rights.
MAIN BODY
Describe why some Healthcare organisations have become dependent and vulnerable because of
using Information Systems
Health care organisation is using technology at large extent which provide them various
advantage. But cyber security is creating threat for health care industry as there are various types
of data is issued in it. These data are related to their staff members as well as their patients.
Increasing use of information system crate vulnerability for patients data. As it is important for
health care organisation to put careful insights in business which assist them for purpose of
protecting valuable information of their customers (Buck, Probst Marques and Rosemann, 2021).
Without insights of organisation, third party can take advantage of valuable information of
organisation. There is various reason for which health care organisation is becoming dependent
and vulnerable with use of information system. These reasons in context of health care
organisation are mentioned below:
1
Document Page
Staff: There are various employees work in a health care organisation who has easy access to
files of patients. All these employees do not take advantage of this power but some employees
can steal this information of patients. This information can be used by criminals in theft related
to identity or can be used to for blackmail people. There are different ways in which staff can
steal these records. There are some cases where employees can access to financial documents of
patients and use their credit card numbers for purpose of committing fraudulent purchase.
Malware and phishing attempts: There are various malware as well as phishing schemes
which are planting different malicious scripts on device or stealing login credentials that can
compromise complete system (Burgos and Ivanov, 2021). In this, challenge is occurred related to
dealing with malware is that it requires seemingly authentic link for purpose of introducing
nefarious cyber presence into network. In this, it is important to provide training to staff for
purpose of recognising phishing attempts. In this, most common scan that is done by creating
emails from authentic looking sites that require login information.
Vendors: There are various health care providers who needs to work with different vendors and
they work with them without assessing as well as accompanying risk. For instance, hospitality
needs to hire cleaning company and their employees can access to computers. Although, it is
difficult for average employees for accessing to patient information but at same time, it is also
difficult for health care organisation safeguard all points of accessing information. At same time,
it is also important for hospitals to hire cleaning employees in order to maintain healthy work
environment.
Unsecured mobile devices: There are various health care facilities which are allowed logins
through mobiles but these devices do not always need to meet security standards (Gretzel, Ham
and Koo, 2018). It creates problems for their networks and also make them vulnerable for
hackers and malware as all these planning and security of organisation does not create influence
over communication devices of staff.
Explain some of the internet challenges faced in view of the protection of healthcare staff,
patients and customers data, privacy and intellectual property
There are various changes occur health care organisation as there is increasing use of
internet and other technologies in business. All these create some internet challenges for
business. In order to protect privacy of data of healthcare staff, customers, different challenges
are faced by healthcare organisation and these are mentioned below:

Hacker and risk of hacktivism: Rise of hacktivism is creating problems for business of
health care organisation as it can results in data theft. Hackers use different techniques and get
access to health care organisation which create threat for privacy of patients, staff members and
other things. Hackers can take advantage of the data of hospitals and can sell it to third party
which is creating threat for them.
User error in adoption of technology: Threat for health care security can also be occurred from
simple patient user errors. A patient once unencrypted to folders in cloud, it can result in problem
for their personal data (Guinan, Parise and Langowitz, 2019). It is important for health care
organisation to use best practices of hacker data security along with using strong encryption that
protect that information sharing from third party access.
Adoption of cloud and mobile technology in healthcare: There is increasing use of
cloud for purpose of saving information of staff members, patients and other important
information in health care organisation. There is increasing growth in this industry which
increase needs of saving more data of patients. There is also use of mobile technology as
customers are using mobile in order to book appointments. There is encryption of the data when
it comes to cloud. In order to protect data of patients and other visitors in organisation and to
increase security of data, health care organisation ae using bring their own device policy in order
to ensure that use of mobile and other mobile device does not harm to security of data of
organisation.
Outdated technology in hospitals: There are various funds require in order to run a hospitality
as running of it is not cheap at time when healthcare organisation is using latest technology like
MRI, increase in numbers of staff members in order to fulfil needs as well as IT budget (Khalilov
and Levi, 2018). There is various software as well as infrastructure that is offering data security
risk related to health care as different vendors are stopped their support for IT system of hospital
that incudes patches of vital security. Different things like purchasing new server or biting the
bullet can create problems for budget but it is easier in compare to dealing with fallout of data
breaching.
Explain how informed consent, legislation, industry self–regulation and technology tools help
protect the individual privacy of internet users
Informed consent: It can be described as process that is related with communication among
patient as well as health care provided which leads to permission or agreement of treatment, care

as well as service. It is right of every patient to be get informed and also ask question before
treatment and procedure. A patient who is adult and is mentally able to make decision, in this
medical care cannot start their treatment without getting informed consent of them (Kiszl and
Fodor, 2021). This information is related to name of condition, name of treatment to be
recommended by healthcare providers, risk as well as benefits of procedure and other options.
This informed consent is taken only from patient directly or if they are not able to make decision,
it is taken from their family. It is important to make privacy of individual user as this informed is
kept by health care providers. At time of using information system, this information is
completely encrypted.
Legislation: Privacy and confidentiality is one of important components among
relationship of health care provider and patient. This relationship is based on trust as well as fair
expectation of heath care provider and patients. Medical confidentiality is all about a consent of
health care providers for maintaining information of patient during their treatment. For this,
various legislation is made in UK which assist to maintain that privacy as well as confidentiality
of patients. This legislation includes data protection act 2018, consent under DPA/GDPR and
others. According to this legislation, it is essential for health care provider to maintain data of
their patients. Ignorance of these legislation can create negative impact over health care
organisations.
Industry self-regulation: Industry self-regulation is another tool that is require in health care
organisation for purpose of maintaining privacy of patients. It is a process in which members of
industry, sector and trade of economy that monitor own adherence to ethical, safety and legal
standards instead of having outside, third party entity, government regulator that enforce and
monitor these standards (Lee, Cameron and Hassall, 2019). This self-regulation is to be consider
by all health care provider including doctors, nurses, and other staff. These self-regulation helps
members to consider privacy of staff members, patients and other people.
Technology tool: There are various technological tools which is used in health care
organisation for purpose maintaining protection of data of patients, staff members. For this,
various security systems are implemented in organisation and also an IT professional is hired by
health care organisation who can ensure that they have best practices that assist them to protect
data of organisation.

Discuss two ways that protect intellectual property rights
Intellectual property can be described as creation of minds like inventions, literary as well as
artistic work, symbols, designs, images used in commerce. This property is protected by law that
includes patients, cop rights, trademarks that allow people to get recognition as well as financial
benefit from things they invent and create. It is important in order to create a valance among
interest of wider public and innovator (Lone and Mir, 2019). Intellectual tool can be including
different things from procedure of production to launch of product schedule. List of countries,
trading secret. There are different ways in order to protect intellectual property which are
mentioned below:
Application of copyrights, patient and trademark:
Different organisation can protect their management and other operation through rights
related to intellectual property as well as legislation that provide them better position of
bargaining for counterclaims and cross licensing. It is a right as well as registration that allow
corporation for competing goofs, pave different ways for future market share and deter entrants
in future market share.
Copyrights: It is a kind of intellectual property which protect original expression of artistic work
or authorship. It can be licensed for drawing, text, artwork as well as combination of different
objectives that is produced through corporation (Parusheva and Pencheva, 2022).
Trademark: It consist symbols, brand name as well as logos that can be used b company
for purpose of differentiating products and service of company (Love and Matthews, 2019).
Trademark can be defined as words, text, painting, photograph which is used for purpose of
identify group of objects.
Patents: It is used for purpose of registering things and inventions which are unique and
not known for general public as well as other method through which they can work. It includes
information that is related to invention and can be submitted to public with application of patent
in order to obtain patent.
Never stop innovating:
In order to protect intellectual property rights, it is essential for health care organisation to
maintain innovation. Creativity is one of component that leads to rapid evolution leaps
(Mohamed, 2021). There are various rivals in industry and in order to overcome of it, it is
