INTRODUCTION
Safeguarding refers as a keeping people safe from abuse, harm and neglect. It is important for the people to live their life. According to
care quality commission, protects individual’s health wellbeing, human rights and enables them to live free from the harm, neglect, abuse that is
known as safeguarding. It is a term that contains a wide range of principles and measures that assures basic rights of human being is protected. The
main goal of the safeguarding is to ensure that young adults, vulnerable adults and children can spend their life free from the neglect, abuse and
harm. Most of the healthcare organization puts safeguarding in their practices in term of advise and support, developing policies related to people
safety, guidelines for the behaviour, minimize risk for the children, process for responding to safeguarding concerns etc. through which ensures
patients that none will be abused, harm and neglect in the society. This report will discuss about Mackenzie’s case scenario that takes place under
the safeguarding enquiry form.

On 6 October, Mackenzie met his local pub friends and like usual he bought the drinks, but when he became
unable to buy some more drinks then his friends were started to having fun of him. In that situation, Mackenzie
felt uncomfortable and angry to think that often time he paid for more drinks but when this time he was lacking

behind sorts of money then his friends having fun with me. This incident told by him to his support worker Ellie.
But she said to Mackenzie that he can take it in jokes because they are friend of him. But he did not take in joke,
then on 7th oct morning, he thought that his neighbour was thinking that his neighbour had taken parcel for him.
So, Mackenzie almost got into fight and said him that you have stolen my parcel. This scenario denotes that
Mackenzie can be physical abused by his neighbour because he did not say anything to the neighbour about parcel
and directly got in fight. In this state

There were several alleged victims i.e. neighbour, Mackenzie’s parents who needs immediate safety. For
example, Mackenzie has delusion behaviour after diagnosing paranoid schizophrenia. Due to this, his parents were
always in concern that they might be harmed by him. In that state, support worker Ellie understood his parents that
due to this mental illness he has delusion behaviour and said them to support him instead of neglecting. In other
case, when Mackenzie were got in fight with his neighbour because he was thinking that neighbour has stolen his
parcel, in that situation, support worker Miss Ellie understood the neighbour that he is suffering from delusion
behaviour, so do not harm him. She also made understand to Mackenzie that neighbour was not stealing his parcel
(Querns, 2019). He just received parcel and was going to give you. Thus, support worker immediately safe alleged
victims otherwise they can harm by Mackenzie in his anger. For instance, if support worker was not there then it
can possible physical abuse and neglect situation can take place which could harm alleged victim as well as
Mackenzie.

Miss Ellie and Karl who have become good friend of Mackenzie after diagnosing form the paranoid schizophrenia. Miss
Ellie was support worker and Karl was the psychiatrist of him.

Mackenzie has delusion behavior so his parents unable to cope with him anymore because they were worrying
about their safety. Due to this, his parents do not keep more contact with him which makes him feel alone. Due to
this, he started to live alone after hospitalization. It denotes that he needs support from the family. But he did not
get like that support from family side. After that, He started his usual life like boxing, jogging and other daily
usual activity. Then Miss Ellie become good friend of him and she met him with her friend Karen. He came in
relationship with her and provides financial support her. A day he gave her loan which was provided by his father
for the furniture and bedsit. But Miss Karen became angry on him after listen about the loan. This situation also
denotes that he needs a support such as person whom one can support him and can safeguard from abusing. The
behind is that when Mackenzie was asking for the money that time his GF become angry on her. At that state
abuse can be possible then he could need of safeguard. Another situation when he met with new friends in local
pub and he was unable to bought more drinks then his friends mocked him but Mackenzie felt too uncomfortable
and angry on them. This situation is more prevalent because he was too angry on them and could abuse them but
he kept his mind stable at that situation. As same case happens with neighbour, whereas Mackenzie was thinking

that his parcel had stolen by neighbour then he almost got into fight. At that state, physical abuse could take place.
These situations indicate that Mackenzie needs to participate in the safeguarding adult process. In this process,
safeguard will provide good family care services as well as protects them from any type of abuse which ultimately
maintain his wellbeing.

of this meeting and as a result of a safeguarding enquiry (what are the
client’s desired outcomes)? (Max words 200)
When Mackenzie got into fight with the neighbor to though that he had stolen his parcel. That state literally could
be harmful for the alleged victim (Neighbor) and Mackenzie because both were arguing to each other without
knowing the reason. So, it could become usual that neighbor and Mackenzie could physically abuse to each other
than situation could be out of control. Police and ambulance could be involved as well to take the case in their
control. Bu nothing happens like that because Mackenzie did not loss his mental capacity while fighting to the
person that is the result of safeguard enquiry. There is another case that also evident success of safeguard enquiry
such as when Mackenzie shares his feeling to the miss Ellie (support workers) that he wants to work out with the
Karen but he was worrying about that Karen could take advantage of him. It denotes that he has trust issue as well.
It has proven from the statement that he has mental capacity that’s why he was thinking about Karen and
consequences which could take place after coming in relation again (Jane, 2020). But if Mackenzie again come
with her GF then he could be abused financially and neglect as well that would bring depression in his mind and
make lonely that could impact on his mental state. But Miss Ellie supports him to understand his behaviour and
helps in him in taking right decision that’s result of safeguarding enquiry.
